I still remember I think either the ugly to beauty challenge or breed out the ugly challenges, the CC simmers would spend an ungodly amount of time seasoning the toddlers with all the makeup and frizz imaginable. giving them lashes, shiny eyes, freckles lipgloss etc and it just made me so uncomfortable.

@@yaleatorio I consider myself to be a cinematic (or a "simematic") universe player, where I create various characters and plop them around the world and switch between their different shenanigans. I just find it gets less relative since I can switch between different households and witness more drama. It's also just nice to see your own Sims wandering around like an ncp when you're not playing them too. (This works even better in TS3 too, since every sim in the world functions 24/7 rather than just loading in and out of the lot.) The only problem with this play style is if your save corrupted, you done goofed since all your eggs are in one basket. (But I suppose it's about as deviating as losing a long legacy.)

As an alpha cc user, i have to say skin details are some are the hardest things to find find without your sim looking scary. i spent hours finding good skin details that i use all the time. but hair and clothing are honestly worth it because they tend to be less cursed but there is weird stuff out there.

They did stuff like that in Sims 3 (and probably the other Sims games as well). Recently started playing again. A cc search reminded me about all the uber pale skins, lack of dark skintones, and--what was really weird (to me! I know loads of simmers loved it so no judging!)--dolls with knobs for joints, etc. Oh, and there was a weird harelip kind of lip that was really popular too. I don't know why. My guess is a story takes off, people love it and want to emulate the sims. The Very Berry Challenge started out as a legacy (maybe an IBSI) then suddenly everyone was doing rainbow colored sims. *thinks* In fact, it may have started in Sims 2 and carried over into Sims 3. Anyway, I digress. Guess there are trends everywhere.

I am a laptop-player, so I am just glad and thankful when mods and other sims stuff are working properly. I think that I use some Alpha CC but for only victorian and medieval dresses, and maybe a few hairs, which is more than enough. You manage to make this household look like a disfunctioning family from an r rated show. Well done.

I can't believe TSR is being allowed to demand that we pay for premium to download ANYTHING! Also I totally agree with the Alpha skins and some of the hair too, but I do like the clothes myself, unlike other simmers I like the Sims clothes to have real brands on them, it makes them like real people! Also I saw you have This Is Them skin or at least it looked like them, now they look great, but even after EA put a stop to people having their CC forever behind a pay wall, they have been keeping theirs under for way more then a month, at least for the new ones! Of course I got MOST of their skins, except for a few new ones, and they do have child and teen skins available for different skin tones and including Asian sims! To me the worst is those skins, I actually use the normal skin, but with cmars nude parts, if you know what I mean! And then I put on the guys LUUMIA's body hair, I still prefer it to Maxis version, which mostly looks like someone used a magic marker to make themselves look like they have body hair! lol!

As an avid alpha CC user (Mostly CAS), i can say that it depends on your taste and what look your going for. Some creators cc looks great in pictures and.... questionable at best in game. I usually have 1 rule, if it doesn't look good, i wont use it. Oh, and as far as kids go, i usually stick to in-game or maxis match with the exception of eye color and normal eyelashes. Ngl, some people do way too much when it comes to kids.

I use alpha cc for jewelry, contacts, some shoes, nails, eyebrows (face piercings and body) purses, lashes, and tattoos I feel like some creators make maxis/alpha hybrid clothes and hairs I prefer those over strictly alpha or strictly maxis match For skins, build/buy, makeup, and skin details i use maxis match And I don’t use any cc for beds, tables, chairs, cabinets, toilets and counters, doors, and windows

I really enjoy seeing people’s creativity shine through when they’re creating realistic looking Sims! What I HATE seeing (and from my personal experience I notice it to be more common with other African American Simmers), is when they give their Sims these HUGE over exaggerated looking mouths and eyes and all of the comments are people hyping them up like, “Yasss!” and “slayyy” but they just look EXTREMELY STUPID to me! And I’m not talking about how a lot of us have bigger / fuller lips n stuff like that. For Sims 4, I have I think 6 mods. Yes, thats it, SIX. One of them is Kijiko's eyelashes, which I highly recommend, they are under facial features and stick to the actual eyes so the eyes don't need to be adjusted to fit the lashes. Related, I have a mod that takes off the "eyelashes" that are those stupid thick lines from Maxis. Let's see, I have a mod so that Vampires can make plasma packs out of plasma fruit. A mod so that sims don't get mad when they "find out" an alien sim is an alien, since my aliens walk around LOOKING like aliens and did when they met all the normal sims. A cat ears accessory that looks like the one in game so they an be with any hair instead of that one hair the ears are attached to, because the devs seriously overlooked having it as a hat and my niece really wanted it. I have the mod to license songs every day and one to allow donating to charity anytime and for higher amounts. Is that six, I think that's six. Oh, I also have Carl's season tuner mod but I don't use it often. Well, didn't as I haven't played sims 4 in almost a year.

I ended up spending weeks (literally) going through all the mods for sims 2 and 3 and getting rid of about 2/3 of all the mods and those games now run much better. Of course, those mods kept do include the necessary fixes.

The judgement was harsh. I love alpha cc but you have to know how to pick it out. Like... What you see is what you get, it's not lighting, ignore the pose, the Sims 4 does not havehir movement so there will be no adjusting that anything lol But I used TSR for other things like makeup and shoes and build buy items. A lot of the hairs and clothes yea. But most creators are asian, so its not emulating as much as them just making their stuff. skins tend to be more black focused, even ones with white swatches tend to look better on black sims. Eyes usually go either realism or anime with no inbetween.

I like alpha CCs as maximatch ones as well. I try to have well balanced sims. I think the cartoonish sims 4 style is not very well done (after seing the one used for Paralives, paralives is better to my point of view, better balanced) but it’s true that many alpha CCs are too much realistic and look uncanny. But don’t you think it’s normal that realistic CCs are weird on a character like Shanice who is very uncanny as well ? (Even if it’s totally on purpose and for fun). I mix both and try to not make stereotypical « perfect » sims and let alone carbon copies of stereotypical kpop idoles made and based on just one limited norm of beauty standard. (Again it’s just my opinion) I don’t like super pale skins too, it could be weird. But I use them if i try to do something specific. I think the CCs creators make a very good job and sometimes even better than EA who make you pay for objects or cas things with very bad textures and sometimes bad 3D models. In fact, yes it’s quite difficult to find the harmony between alpha and maximatch CCs, however, i’ve seen many good ones with a look like something in Life is Strange aspect and it’s so nice.

Alpha CC, certainly is a thing. Just so much of it on that ad-infested site that is TSR, and it is always for females 98% of the time too. Just utterly flooded with mounds of it all the time, hardly any male content on there. And what male stuff there is, just the kind of thing that those in their up to mid 20's would use, and they all look like plastic kendolls or some such. Rather have more basic looking male clothing, as that's what i do when i make male sims & whatnot, could care less about that 20-something model clothing. Females look just off a lot of the time, that's just how Alpha CC seems to be. And yeah, is the most egregious on TSR, it just seems more like The Instagrammer's Resource, with things made mostly just for all those silly kinds of pictures you'd see on there (never used instagram & never will), but hey, there are people who do genuinely like & use that Alpha CC, which is fine. We all hav what we like after all. Though as others say, if it is done & used the right way, it can be fine & not so uncanny valley. But those children & toddlers, they are just quite "off" we'll say, shouldn't be doing that kind of thing with the young ones i'll tell you.

Though if you into stores like target, walmart & whatever ones you might have where you are, they have clothing sections which still have those silly kinds of styles, but are somewhat more normal clothing i've found at least. Or just go to a thrift store (which are called op-shops where i come from) and get yourself some decent clothing there. Since they tend to have realistic clothing, and not stuff made for skinny twig-like people which is just everywhere nowadays

The only thing I have from tsr are curly hair hairstyles, because there are not many wearable curly hair in the game. If I have to honest, only the wavy puffy one from werewolves and the cats & dogs one. Other than that there are no cool curly hairstyles [And EA are still considering themselves "inclusive"]. At tsr there are not many either, but I was able to add some variety. I feel like the sims community don't care about this type of hair. But I must admit - base game still have more curly hairstyles than the sims 3 [Which has no curly hairstyles in the base game]

I only use maxis match CC for my sims because the randomly generated townies always spawn with random alpha CC and it just looks weird- and, yes, I agree that I absolutely HATE how people make their sim's children look like 30 year old women on instagram

I used to play with Alpha CC but always tried to avoid pieces similar to the ones you downloaded (especially the hair). They're so sharp, so shiny, and some of the clothes have nonexistent or overly done creases or shading. I'm not trying to be hateful, some of the CCs can be beautiful, but when I see full alpha sim it just reminds me of an oily mess.

As an avid Alpha CC user some of the alpha CC is just TOO alpha. Like it's TOO real, and I steer away from that kind of CC as it doesn't look good in game, in my opinion. For example, I don't enjoy Alpha build buy CC as it just looks out of place. However alpha hairs, not too realisitic alpha skindetails and clothes is what I personally love.

So when I started playing Sims 3 again, I got rid of ALL my CC. Yes, all of it. To use your words, it was literally traumatizing. But the game worked ALOT better without it. Then there were just a FEW things I found I could not live without (mostly hair, especially male hair since there is little good male hair in all the sims games, especially cool quirky hair). So I found most of what I sincerely missed was located on Mod the Sims and The Sims Resource. I told you all of that to explain that if you have an account, a free account, with TSR and you download through the account then you can go to the history and filter your history for, say, HAIR for TS3 and all of the hair for TS3 is listed. In this way, I was able to go through all the hair I had previously and easily find those few, ok maybe like 20, hairs I really needed for my game. So, yes, TSR is very irritating, but it does have some perks if you use the free account. Now, what I felt was absolutely necessary for my game and what others feel is absolutely necessary, I'm sure is totally different. My niece is completely in love with the "zombie apocalypse" thing and just NEEDED bloody make up and torn clothes. So that really upped my content more than I truly wanted, but being as I got rid of sooooooooo much, my game still runs phenomenally with the "few" I have. Highly recommend cutting down the CC if sims 2 or 3 is running slow.

I am a maxis mix person, and the sims resource has gotten more maxis match CC on it to. Plus your VIP gives you access to that basket so it can download a lot at one time. Plus has a CC manager.

I use alpha cc and I never watched twilight, well, maybe twice with my mom. I am stuck in my euphoria stage tho. My alpha male sims never look like K-pop and half of them are Black actually with dreads Afros the whole 9. I do have a style tho ( really grunge, street wear, eboy egirl)

As an ex-alpha cc user.. ew. I like *some* of the eyes, clothes and makeup, I almost always use alpha lashes though because they’re so cute Maxis hair and a lot of clothes is just so much better and I love the skin details

I personally dont like the realistic cc. I stick to maxis match or stuff that isnt too far off. I have to have eyelashes tho, Sims 4 default lashes are triggering when sims 3 i think looked like eye lashes

As a maxis and alpha mix i do agree that i think it is a little weird to put makeup on toddlers i do use cc for them but only like eyes and skin details hair and other stuff but none of that is makeup so i understand the point he's is making on the toddlers wearing makeup.

I use SOME alpha cc, but mostly hairs, the eyes creep me out. I also have a decent graphics card: Alpha CC is NOT for weak graphic cards since it is generally high poly. I always go with Kijiko's lashes most of the time, they look way better, like they actually have lashes. Also, the face preset seems VERY strange here. Face presets make a huge difference.

I only paid for the sims resource once and have never paid for cc before cause i wanted to bulk download the whole cyfi collection and would do the same for the other collections or bulk downloading hairs and things, i could have used it more tbh i only did one month and it was 11 euros only, definitely worth it if you quickly want a lot of things you just have all the downloads together and it also instantly downloads any required meshes and things i think so it's super fast
