Could you take the petals of your dried flowers and market them as wedding confetti if you supplied them in pretty little envelopes? Maybe a way of turning them into a sellable and desirable item?

I found a local artist who I gave a load of my dried flowers to. She makes products out of them that we agree upon, and I sell them and we split any sales 50:50. Takes the pressure off me when I’m busy growing fresh flowers.

Nice! You could sell bulk dried flowers for crafters online as well e.g., bags of straflowers, statice, whatever. They are light so should be cheap to ship. Also, would the Bells of Ireland keep their color better if dried in silica?
@Thingys-Jill Жыл бұрын
Maybe you could stick them into styrofoam eggs and hang them from branches that are planted in pots to be Easter trees. Or glue the flower heads to the exterior of the ornaments and turn them into a topiary for Valentine's Day, Easter, etc.
@imasharp1 Жыл бұрын
Your ornaments are pretty, but maybe you could use pretty ribbon instead of twine. I think this would appeal to more people. Not everyone likes rustic. Seems like the twine is too heavy looking for such a delicate ornament. Just a suggestion. ⚘
@dearvictoria4716 Жыл бұрын
Something small though. I always take ribbons off ornaments because they detract from the ornament itself. (I personally like the twine but lots of ornaments come with pretty string and that's nice)

Peonies dried in silica are amazing, both yellow and pink. I usually pick the smaller blooms so they are easier to use in projects. Also found roses dried in silica look great and the scent is also preserved. Finally, dried larkspur is one of my favorites.

Are door wreaths a thing in Canada ? Here in the UK, we love them all year round. Not just Xmas, especially dried flower wreaths. We change them seasonally.

Here in my country (Denmark) some people used to sew straw flower on narrow piece of fabric, in order to make a kind of wall hanger with flowers. It only takes one or two stiches in each flower to make it stay. :)

Hey guys, love your channel. Failure is always go to recognize. I think your successes have by far outweigh the failures. Just throwing my two cents, take with it what you will. When your selling at the craft fairs you could also sell the following * bundles of dried flowers like pics for the tree. The stems need to be clean and bare and like 10 stems of same flower per bundle * you said you don’t make wreaths, but I think you should consider. Christmas is not the only time for fried flower wreaths, I try to make one once a season. Bring them to The flowers market in the summer as well. FYI- so jealous of your stash of statice and strawflower 🤤 * other makers as you said would love to buy. Become their supply source (see above comment lol) *crunch them up and make organic confetti and sell as the farmers market again- you could just have a couple pails of all the leftovers even * I would do different ribbons on the Xmas ornaments. Have a variety of pretty ribbons so it can appeal to everyone vs just the rustic look I know time is the most important thing, again just throwing out suggestions bc you have a wonderful crop to work with. Been watching you guys for years, and want you to keep being more successful every year. Happy Christmas and a plentiful new year.

Have you looked around for some soap makers they would look beautiful within them. You could also look into selling online during Christmas as tree embellishments. I've put my dried hydrangeas and gomphrena on mine and it was beautiful. Online the prices for dried flowers can be crazy.
@debbiedempsky8160 Жыл бұрын
The jute strings are a bit chunky for those ornaments. Look for some Red or Gold elastic string. It will elevate your ornaments and make them look more delicate. Also, after Christmas look for craft packages of mini ribbon bows that can be hot glued onto the rings on the top of your ornaments. I think these 2 small changes will help sell your ornaments. The jute is good for a more rustic type of ornament, but not something as delicate as your dried flowers.

sell them to people that make soap to embed in them, or that decorate focacia bread and other types of creative endeavors. Dried flowers collect alot of dust so I don't know anyone under 50 that purchases them for home decor.....but using them in bookmarks, handmade papers and other types of crafts, they could definitely be of use/value.

You should compost all of the dried flowers you currently have at hand. Return them to the earth. Start fresh with next season. Dried flowers are not eternal. You get a few years but they eventually get too fragile and dusty. Always start drying from a fresh season of flowers.

Those safflowers look amazing and would make beautiful flower ball (I think they are called pmander balls) And what if you got a cheap burlap type ribbon to glue all the flowers to and then you could wrap and glue a piece around a pumpkin or use on a straw wreath so you could do wreaths at a cheaper cost and with less time to make. And the anise flower, could you create organza bags of potpourri with it? Wishing you all the success you can handle!! ❤

I dried some delicate double cosmos flowers in actual sand from the beach as I had no extra monnies for the silica gel stuff. Had to boil, wash, dry and sift the sand to rid it of the distinctive sealife smell and bonuses. It worked in a shallow single layer, might be too heavy for bigger flowers like dahlia or gladiolus. Also this method does make the colour change, fade a bit, but the shape holds.

Great video! The pumpkin topper reminded me of a hat in an old black and white film. Got me thinking...bridal veil, graduation caps (with a glued on) flower top, headbands, pins-easier than the ones with wire, maybe the vineyards near you would like them to decorate gift wine bottles- like a removable ribbon.... next video-how serina built a website. Merry Christmas Serina! To you and your Family. Thank you for being so honest and open with your knowledge! And.....oh my. You may not like your Anise Hyssop as much this year, err, next spring. I am in 5B ON. Normal winter temps are -20°C, at night, mine self seeded and I had way, way too many. I let them go and could not pull them out in late summer, and then birds started eating the seed. Now I am still cutting off the heads, so hopefully a lot less will self seed. Mine are a white/yellow colour. Maybe they self seed better than purple. Take care! Eileen 🇨🇦 🍁❤🎵😊

Here`s a couple of ideas on what you could do to enhance your income while utilizing your dried flowers. Hire someone who has the time and interest to make things to sell on a contingency basis. in other words, they get paid a percentage out of the successful marketing of what dried flower creations they make, minus the cost of materials. A bored retired person who loves art crafting wouldn`t be so hard to find, believe me, there are plenty of us. Another dried flower heads idea that may help you; try making very fancy paper for note paper. You could wrap them cheap by using toile and putting a mini bouquet of dried flower buds on the drawn together ends. You can make a simple cheap soft tissue paper and overlay it in the last step with flower petals, and then lay a single sheet of tissue paper of a color you choose to complement the composition and then do the final press. Looks like you have the space to keep a large flower press. Also you could sell the seed from the seed heads off to your viewers. Statice is amazing and is my very favorite dried flower and I would love to buy some strong growing seeds. I`m sure many people would love seeds. Also I noticed that your christmas ornament which are very beautiful, by the way, could sell better if they were made more festive and attractive with a little inexpensive ribbon around the metal ring to hide it.. Also, here`s a question; why don`t you grow lavender? It has a scent that is popular and has a gorgeous purple color. Anyhow best wishes on your success.

Perhaps contact them and truck down a huge truck full of all your flowers at a bulk price. You both win. They get nice assortment and you win by turning all the less than flowers into $. They start crafting the floats months in advance. It might be a very lucrative idea. 😃 Merry Christmas to your family! ❤
