I failed again, because the University I was in, was very archaic and had old communist teaching methods where the professors just talk to themselves and try to make it as more cryptic and complex as possible. So I changed Universities, and now I am doing fine, they teach very good and this has made all the difference, I am still struggling as it is hardcore engineering, but it's within my capabilities.

Another problem, looking at math from a teacher's point of view, is the "I already know this stuff" attitude. My first job after my master's was teaching an adjunct College Algebra class at a community college. Most students did well on the first test. Several students came to me with that "I'm bored" look, telling me they already know this stuff and the class is too easy. Second test comes around and mass fails! (No, I didn't make it harder) About half the class dropped. I talked with other instructors and the attitude was, "well that's pretty typical for College Algebra". Couple of points: After you feel pretty confident, leave it for a day or so, then come back and see if you can do the proofs or workout the problems. If you get stuck on a part, then you really didn't learn it. Refresh yourself and go over the material again. Second point. No matter what level the class is, you can always learn something, including someone with a PhD. Even in an 8th grade math class the teacher may come up with a technique you haven't seen before. When I was teaching high school I was constantly learning new tricks and techniques to solve problems from my fellow teachers.

"Couple of points: After you feel pretty confident, leave it for a day or so, then come back and see if you can do the proofs or workout the problems. If you get stuck on a part, then you really didn't learn it." I take offense with this because im a forgetul person and at the time i was taking the quizes and end of modual exams i did not get stuck and i did learn it. But for some reason when i took my final for the class even after studying for the entire day i failed the fianle so badly i failed the class. I would practice over and over again everyday before i took any quiz and for me i had online homework so i was able to go over my homework and it would be long in some cases but id do it because i valued my grade My grade point average was actually 96 at its highest for the class and only really dipped to 92 after logartithms. After i took my end of module exam for logarithms i had two days to study for the final exam but in reality i only had one day because i had to do a wrighting for the other day. I studied and prepared as much as i thought passible. But on a test with 29 questions i only got 2 correct so i only have one thing to say to a stuck up pos like you, fuck you.

I am also a believer in giving up (let things go). Most people do not give up because they haven't cultivated the skill of giving up ego. When you giving up something you also gain the skill of giving up ego. Years ago, I struggled getting a job in my research field. I told my worries to my mentor. He asked me "so are you giving up ? " (sort of indicating, I am gonna be a loser if I give up) I told him that there is nothing wrong with giving up. For instance, if Hitler had given up the war, most people would have survived. After years of unemployment due to my own ego, I came to my senses. I learned my lessons. I looked jobs for my skills instead of jobs in my field. As soon as I let my ego go, my brain started functioning better. However, please understand that giving up is not about "Not trying enough and giving up". You do your best, but if something is not working, you analyze the situation, make a decision best for you or/and others in order to move forward.

Wow. That's stressful. I like self study just for the fun of it. I hate exams, which makes me judge myself. The vast majority of the mistakes that I've ever made in math were not mistakes in the main understanding, but just being sloppy and not seeing it no matter how carefully I look at the exam. I've had dreams of being overloaded at University, what I would call a nightmare. I think the trick of dealing with failure is not placing all your worth in the examination process, since there are plenty of outstanding scientists who did not stand out in University but went on to achieve remarkable results by never ditching their curiosity. And even then, the value of a human being is not what they achieve in academics.

I’m just in high school and I have a AP Physics 1 exam tomorrow. I felt like I did everything I could to get good at it. I payed attention in class, spent hours on the homework, always asked for the teachers help whenever I could. I think I’m finally coming to understand it better, but its sticking into my brain too late. But after doing a practice test just yesterday I got a 2/5 (a 3 is passing.) There’s a good chance that I will not do as well as I want to. I’m currently crying and really disappointed in myself, but all i can really do is learn from this experience and learn how I can do better next year.

Remember, it's not the quantity of study but the quality of study that may determine your performance in exams. If you are distracted while stuyding, or simply skimming material expecting to remember (which you should not really be doing anyhow, you should be understanding the material) how to solve problems...you will have a bad time come exam time.

biggest problem with education systems all over the world is their inability to actually make students know what really they want to learn...not everyone would want to learn math or physics or geography or music or economy and so on...but surely every student has some interests and passions and that is what education system must be able to identify, but unfortunately teachers are not qualified/knowledgeable how to do that...

I always hated it when the professor would just spread the graded exams on the front desk and have the students sift through them to find their own exams. The big Physics classes were always like this. The Chemistry department at my college did something interesting. The first page of the exam was just a cover sheet with your name and grade on it. But they would cut out a fold near the grade and tape it over the score. So you only saw names on the exams.
