Thankyou for sharing your experiences of getting taken out of school and showing that letters on a sheet of paper arent they end of the world... Seeing others experience a similar situation to me gives me hope that minor setbacks help your future in a positive way. I too got taken out of school and homeschooled myself with help and support from my parents. Ended up taking my GCSES at a FE college i was there a year longer than i had anticipated, but the minor set backs further motivated me to put in the graft to do the actual exams.. At the age of 20 i just completed my Diploma in Psychology/Criminology & Sociology and in September i start my uni degree in Psychology and Criminology. I gathered that its not just me who decided that university isnt for them straight after they turn 18. Still unbelieveable and still these past few weeks i still pinch myself (literally haha) that a kid who hated school where i would hyperventilate and feel nauseous at any given moment the world school was brought up in a conversation. Would end up moving to university! Sorry for a rambling long comment i just havent ever seen/heard anyone in the same boat as me.. In my mocks, I completely struggled with Maths and Triple Science. It's just such a complicated system, and especially since lockdown has impacted the recent Year 11s, things have been more challenging than ever. It's completely messing with my head, since I have deteriorating mental health and a lot of other stuff on my plate. I feel as if the curriculum is expecting too much of us at such a young age? We shouldn't be tested off of our memory, but what work we complete in class and all that! Like coursework. I find the Government and schools push us too much, and don't realise how bad it affects teenagers. At the end of the day, some people can just get straight A*s (9), and you know what? Good for them. It would be a whole lot easier if the schools didn't make us overwork ourselves, we're at school, sat down for five-six hours a day and that itself can be challenging. Though some enjoy it, I personally find it painstakingly hard to concentrate, especially with learning difficulties, there's not much in place for students. I've got a Grade 4 in English Language and Literature, and a Grade 5 in art. But even so, that's just mocks.

well i started reading a book for the exam the night before but i had done a bit of reading of other books in the run up. for english language, i didn't revise. but that's solely because the exam is based on comprehension and daily use of english, so it's not something to revise imo.

Pretty sure you’ll definitely get into a college! ( I do a level sociology and I learnt that all schools/,colleges have a exam league board and they try get students into their schools/colleges because students mean funds and schools focus on those who have potential (set 2/3 students) since they will boost their position on the exam league board making their school more appealing hence getting more students applying and getting more funds) Unless there are some colleges that have specific grade boundaries, for my college I had to achieve 2 sixes and 5 GCSES :)
@justhereforreal33603 жыл бұрын
@@_xiaotin8490 my college said 6 GCSES and two 6s, the thing is i got a 6 in English Language and 6 in RE (my sixth form is religious) and 8 in a language… would it be possible for me to still do ALevels?
@_xiaotin84903 жыл бұрын
@@justhereforreal3360 hi! Well first have you secured the 6 GCSEs? If so rest assured :) have you maybe checked your college website for the subject qualification you need? For example (I think?) at my college you need to have 5 gcses with 2 6’s a grade 4-9 to study criminology. you will definitely be able to do a levels if your qualifications suit the expectations! Definitely check the subject qualifications :) I’m not too sure about the connection with Language (as in you studied a language?) / Re. It’s good to achieve a higher grade in Re if you want to enrol in a religious college as for my college they primarily selected students from Catholic/Christian backgrounds as the college is Catholic. They’ll definitely prioritise you however you need the grades that they set for you to be accepted in enrolment :) !! Not too sure about Language? I mean they’ll see okay this student has 6 gcses 2 at 6s right let’s enrol them. It’ll definitely help if you want to study a language too! Don’t worry if you don’t have 6 GCSES that’s fine you may not be guaranteed a spot since you’re up against thousands of other applicants who may possess better grades but you still have a chance! I know a friend who didn’t qualify for the boundaries (achieving 6 gcses with 2 being 6’s yet she was enrolled). Your GCSES mainly matter for the future subjects you wish to study! The college will get an idea of how suitable you are to study a certain subject from the grades you have achieved. I know some people who could not study a course because they did not pass a certain subject, but some people if lucky kind of push their determination onto the teachers like I will do well please give me the offer to study this course. (This girl I met at my college didn’t pass math which she had to re sit in college, she does business and she said she had to plead with the subject advisor to let her study business and she will definitely pass maths the next time the re sit exam takes place, (she did pass!) I think the most important GCSES are Maths + English It’s beneficial to have as many GCSEs (grade 4s-9s as possible)

@@compilationvideos9314 ngl it isn't laziness its a mixture of a ton of reasons but mainly, I don't want to be successfully depressed in a boring job with not enough money to move upwards. Honestly if it wasn't for Covid I would've got pretty good grades and whatnot but I wouldn't really have to think outside of the box almost ever. At this point I'm learning more and faster than I ever had at school because they don't teach properly. Once you seriously start putting effort into learning a skill you can apply the knowledge on how to master something with anything and in the long run you will be able to do more as a self employed entrepreneur. IMHO failure and mistakes are the best way to learn and master things but the education system discourages it immensely. But yeah this is just a random ramble.

It's good that you're thinking about these things so early on. My advice for you right now is to focus on the present. Stay in the top sets, stay on top of the material. Read a lot of books. Find out what interests you then pursue it. Just immerse yourself in a world of learning. Start thinking about your GCSE's in Year 9 and focus on doing well in them. In Year 11, you want to think about A-Levels and University. Following that, you can't really go wrong.

REVISE. Ik that’s not much help just saying that, but I now regret it. I used to always revise during yr7-8 and because of that, I would get good grades. However, further on yr 9, I would always feel lazy, sad and always procrastinate. I think that’s actually partly due to me managing to find friends (which is really ironic) so I would go to the library less and spend less time revising. So if you have friends, do not let them rule your life. You’re in charge of what you do. Not them. Don’t let peer pressure get in your way. Yr 10 and 11 was probably the worst years of my life, partly due to the pandemic. I could legitimately say that I revised around 5-10 hours overall, for the 2 years. Yeah. And because of that I got mediocre grades. Funny thing is, my grades aren’t even that bad. So if I revised, who knows what type of top grades I could of got?? 8s? 9s? I think I’ve learnt from my mistakes, so now I’m determined to do well in A-levels. Good on you that even in Yr 7, you’re asking for advice and A-levels. Remember to just revise. In the short term it may seem boring. But you’ll see the positive effects in the future.
