For nearly two years now, I've given up on life. I feel like I'm in a better place, but my want to progress in life has not improved. Maybe I'll make KZbin videos until I die.

It's good that you're thinking about this now, as opposed to your 30s or 40s. 20 is still very young, so, you have plenty of time to turn things around. As a matter of fact, the fact that you're even evaluating your life at all is proof that you have more potential than you think you do. I'd recommend getting a job with ridiculously low hours. Maybe a per diem job, or a part time one that you only go to once a week or so. As for education, I'd recommend getting certified in something that doesn't require too many credits. These things might seem trivial in the moment, but, an extra job would look good on a resume, and a certification could help you with getting into more competitive classes. Plus, starting off small is eventually gonna build up. You're eventually gonna naturally want to do more of this stuff, since, by then, you'll be used to it, and you'll want to aim for bigger goals. But, I'm getting ahead of myself with that. It's best to start off small. I've kind of had a similar epiphany not too long ago. I'm wasting my time by being a DSP at a grouphome. But, from being there, I've noticed, that I can do better, and now that I've seen this video, I can safely say, that, so can you. Because, I've been around people who actually don't have potential in their lives. My clients would have behavior plans, where they'd have goals that can help them improve their lives. They don't care though. They don't want to admit that there's anything wrong with them, and they don't want to improve anything about their situations. Instead, they try to bring other people down. They'll bully staff and eachother. It was actually even worse at my last job, since, those people would attempt sa/murder. People in worse situations than us have turned things around for themselves, so, we should be capable of doing so too. We are not idiots, unlike the people I mentioned earlier. You absolutely have what it takes to make things better for yourself.

Bro, you literally nailed this feeling right in the head. I know exactly where you're coming from because this is how I feel all the time. I feel stuck and can't move forward because whenever I've faced challanges and setbacks and tried SO HARD to overcome them, no matter hard or smart or strategic I've worked, they never benefitted me and only resulted in worsening my mental health and emotional well-being. Also, everyone expects me to get over all my mental trauma as if it never happened. Like you can't improve your mental health in just a single day. It can take YEARS or even DECADES. In other words, no one wishes to understand me.

Honestly you’re very lucky to be thinking about this at such a young age. I’m turning 30 this year and I feel like I wasted my 20s on just video games, fucking around, and avoiding school since 2017. Trust me, I feel like my time is up. But you being 20 and being aware of yourself is a blessing. Just build upon it and seek counseling. That’s the first step bro

Hey, i just got this in my recommendet videos and i just wanna say that it is ok to feel that way. What helped me was getting out of my comfort zone first. I started by going to the gym and meeting old friends again. That was 6 years ago and a lot has changed now. It also helps with getting motivated finding a job. If you get out more you find more ideas on what you could do. Or ask other people if they can recommend a job to you. And comparison is the thief of joy man. It doest matter how old you are or if others are better off than you. I also started praying. It helped me reinfocing my goals. Hope this helps and keep it up man

hey man, popped up in my recommendation, I felt a lot like you last year, also at 20, never had a job, was last in school 3 years ago, never even kissed a girl, overweight, unhealthy, and had no way forward. it actually felt like my life was over, but you would be surprised how fast your life could change in a matter of weeks. Start small with anything, maybe send out a couple resumes, maybe try an online course, one thing that worked for me was the gym, but you don't need to go all out on the gym, really you just need a goal and work towards it, if you do not make a goal, your life is over. good luck, my man. When life is horrible, the only wrong decision is to do nothing, god bless.

ive been on youtube a very long time and lemme jus give some statistics; 90% of people on youtube do not grow period. there are LOTS AND LOTS of youtube accounts and only about 10% have over 1000 subs. you are successful. as you grow you'll find ways to grow your channel even further and you can find financial success with this channel. the fact you post every day shows that you do try very hard. try your best to find peace in things. i find peace in music whether its a soft dream of a song or something so egregiously loud i can do nothing but move my body. just for a fair warning, i play a lot of games and personally, peace in games isnt as common as youd hope. gl out there

Hey man, you've got way more ahead of you than KZbin! Your mom is right. Life has only just begun. I know it's easy during times like this for your perspective to narrow, and for it to feel like life is hopeless, but I think life is also full of good surprises. Hard things are part of it, and when you spend this long avoiding them, they can feel like immovable mountains. There is a whole lot more purpose and meaning to life than you realize and you'll discover more of it in time than you realize. When we start becoming adults we can feel like life is just gonna be getting harder and harder, but really there is surprising fullness that comes. It might be hard to see right now but I really believe that by the end of your life you will look back on it with pleasure and gratitude. One day these years will become a source of life and you will be able to draw from your unique experiences to help other people like you.

I went through a similar thing when I was around your age. I turned it around and am quite successful in most aspects of life and my mental health is rock solid. It is possible. The problem is there's a lot of bad advice out there especially online and in online communities. It sounds like there's quite a few people supporting you in the comments but if you're looking for someone to talk to hit me up.

I didn't start to understand things till I was in my early 30s. Now in my 40s and life is much better. I agree with counciling. It is a very good idea. Also get out of your comfort zone. Even if you don't try at work, go do something fun outside with people. Dance classes and meetups where actually a big changer in my life.

Hey man, the first step to bouncing back is recognizing yourself and where you stand. You are aware of the things you need to do to progress in life. Like the other comments here, start off small with certain things. Whether thats training at the gym for 30 min for 4 days a week or finding a part time job to get back on track. You dont have to dive in the deep end. Like you said, you're 20 years old and live with your mom. You probably don't have many bills to deal with (idk ur situation just assuming) and youu dont have much responsibilities besides keeping ur room clean. Get a part time job till you feel comfortable enough to go full time and start improving yourself physically. This in return will shift your mindset and perspective on other things in life. If you enjoy reading, there is a book called, "Elevate, Push Beyond Your Limits" and it teaches you to improve yourself in all aspects of your life to get the ball rolling. ( I explained it terribly lol)

Man, I can't really tell you that everything will be okay or anything, but I guarantee you 20 is not old enough for your life to be over. You got a lot of time to sort shit out. Jobs don't need to be the traditional "work at a store, work for an office," I would look into alternative opportunities for employment. Employment can give meaning to your life, it doesn't need to be a hurdle where you just suffer. Try looking into stuff like working for a contractor or lawn care company. I find that manual labor where you see physical change in the task you're working on really works to make you feel like your job is meaningful. Consider if that's right for you, because it's really underrated. I also agree that a counselor would be a good choice if you can't find the drive yourself. Hang in there man, seriously. Life sucks bad for everyone dude, but in unique and awful ways. You were given a bad hand in the game, but you can overcome it if you figure out what your brain needs from your employment. It's different for everyone.

First thing to focus on is prob reaching monetization since your so close to it. Then seek counciling on the next steps as it can be tricky figuring out the next phase. Usually employment is easier than finding a irl friend group or partner.

You are what you surround yourself with. If you have friends that are making progress in life, it will motivate you to move forward. If you are with no one, you will do nothing. A decent place to meet people is work. Even if it’s not your dream job, it’s still some form of progress. I recommend a job where you don’t have to be around people too much, like a warehouse. Just for a short while so that you have a reason to get up.

"is that all my life is going to be?" Life is what you make it. You're only 20. I'd kill to be 20 again. You're having a wakeup call. Everyone has one at different times. This is normal. It will all fall into place and someday this will just be a memory. You're never alone. So many people in the same boat.

The best part of your life, which was around elementary school when you had infinite free time and some agency, is over. You have to accept that we live in a society that values economic production over people's fulfillment. That said, I was in your spot ~a year ago after a few years of trying and failing to join the military. I was enjoying my vidya games in the meanwhile but was forced to get a retail job, which made me depressed because I can't stand being bored mentally. As you know, youtube is not a long-time career prospect and you will eventually have to learn a skill. What I did was I found out that I like science at started going to school again for that. I think that all you can do to be reasonably happy is to find a hobby you enjoy (for you as a ytuber, maybe electronics, media, programming for vidya games, etc.) and pursue that economically viable hobby as a real career. Actively trying to find that hobby can maybe be your next step to make you feel productive in the short-term. Good luck bro.

try meditating. Literally doing nothing. The problem is that you think too much. It’ll be hard, but you just need to practice bringing your attention to your breathing. You will start to have thoughts (ie you will start talking to yourself in your head). Once you notice, return to breathing.

"Noone wants to work" isn't really true, "Money doesn't necessarily make things you don't like doing more fun" is more accurate I think. Making anything is good, doing anything that feels both productive and interesting to you is good, any amount of exercise is also good. Progress takes time, progress into new territories takes much more time. And you've got at least 4x my subscribers haha. Hope things go well!

I hate to be that guy, but I've never found peace in life and certainly never will, because I had that realization five years later than you, and by that point, it really was too late to make my life count. We are all in for rough times, and you're "lucky" enough to be born into the least valuable demographic in all of society. Things have been on the decline for years, and I don't see any of that stopping. This is not the world I was born in, and the world has changed so much since I was born, that I don't even know how many "new worlds/new normals" happened between then and now. Things aren't looking good, and don't ever listen to the people who tell you to take your life at your own pace, because that's a mistake you can only make once. If existing in the rat race matters to you, you've got a solid half decade to get your shit together and scramble for some kind of life to carve out of this misery pit, before you're considered non-viable. "Most men die at 27, we just bury them at 72", as the saying goes. It's easy to play fuckaround with your 20s, maybe get into a few shitty relationships, and ruin everything you didn't even know you had. Alternatively, you can not hold yourself to the standards of society and see what that gets you. Hasn't gotten me anything, but you can't win if you don't play.

Dunno how the fuck I stumbled upon your video but...dont put your self up to what you think is a "normal" pace of progression for your life, if you gotta go slow just go slow, who the fuck cares....and dont force yourself into standards that may not fit you at all, you are you do what you want or dont do what you dont want, dedicate your freetime into trying to find what you want, you may think that you want nothing but thats probably not true. You may be depressed, sure, but most of all I think you are just trying to force yourself into a mold you will never fit, make your own mold dont try to fit into the mold that you think you are supposed to fit......you may come to me and say "yea, but I gotta eat dude, we live in a society!", well, you said it yourself, you can grind so you will find ways to make money, who cares if its not a traditional job?, who even cares what it even is?, as long as you can do it and it brings you enough money to go by your day it doesnt matter!. Now, about the whole depression arc, the main issue is beating yourself up, really, you are the source of your own happiness/depression, your situation and other people are not, try to not beat yourself up and you will be happier no matter where you are in life, do your best to avoid stupid thoughts and try to not go down routes that you know will end up in one of those.....if you cannot do that, well, you sound like you are being taken care of, so you will figure that out eventually with therapy.... but even if you dont, never stop trying by yourself. Anyway, have a nice day dude!
