Not sure why I got suggested this video. I've been in a similar spot a while ago, and I understand it's hard. The only suggestion that comes to mind: It totally seems like you're stuck in a loop, pondering the same thought-spiral over and over and over again. Part of you wants to hold on to this and not let go, because it's familiar and comfortable (even when it's not). If there is nothing new or helpful coming out of it, try and break that cycle. It's not helping, you're just training your brain to remain stuck.

Try new hobbies, find new connections. Do things you normally wouldn’t do. That’s the best way to expand your self identity, it’s pretty much just experience. As for your friends I was in a very similar situation as you, but I couldn’t have been more happy to leave a particular friend group, I felt a huge weight of my shoulders, I got over it almost immediately. It sounds like you still have some unresolved business with some of them, or maybe deep down you still would like to be friends with them, if that’s the case maybe try talking things out with some of them and try to clear things up. If they don’t respect you or understand what you are trying to say then you are right to move on, but sometimes people change when your gone, and sometimes all it is, is just a big misunderstand and lack of proper communication between each other. Just my advice, I know how you feel and it sucks, but it dose get better just try learn how to be secure on your own and everyone else will fall into place once you’ve figured yourself out.

I'm going through something similar. I know the feels. Important to look forward rather than to keep looking back. I'm trying to focus on learning game development. Life is a long and winding road with plenty of opportunities. I realised it wasn't worthwhile keeping the status quo just because it was comfortable. It felt like certain groups brought me happiness but overall it was just keeping myself in a negative environment. Here's to freedom

(Sorry about the personal story. You can skip the next paragraph if you don't want to hear that sort of thing.) I lost all of my friends from high-school when I graduated, I don't know if it was my anxiety about losing them that drove them away or if I was not worth their time outside of what was convenient or if I was robbed of my friends by circumstances. Regardless I think if the me from back then saw me now he would be disappointed; however I don't feel disappointed in myself, I may have change in some ways but I am still fighting for and doing many of the same things I was fighting for and doing since I was 13 or maybe even younger. It's normal to change but you still have many things from your past self that are the same, that is normal too. You are who you are and no amount of change can make that fact untrue.

I've been in your position for a very long time myself ever since 2022. I lost a girl I felt very close due to her betraying me. Her very controlling boyfriend not only prevented us from seeing each other, but she also took his side even though she knew we clearly saw each other before. I was devistated and hopeless. Since then, I've not wanted to speak to her until she realized that she destroyed a big part of me which wasn't until nearly a whole year later when I told her what she did to me. We managed to rekindle our friendship afterwards, but that only lasted for like 2 or 3 weeks because then she had a little friend group that consisted of people I got along with and she wouldn't let me fit in. Like, she wouldn't let me chime in on things she and the group did, but anyone else or anyone within group she was fine it. I haven't spoken to her in a year and now don't even want to be around her anymore. While I waited for her to come to her senses, I've actually tried finding other girls like her to fill in that missing part of me, which succeeded. Only for a short period of time because even they betrayed me for horrible albiet different reasons. I've actually brought this up with a few people, even some of my childhood friends, but they were not at all supportive of me. They expected me to get over it like it never happened because they made me think of THEIR side of the story and told me I had them to talk to (which is very ironic because if they actually cared about me, they would've been willing to speak to me outside of school).

I get that you lost most of your identity but it's important to learn to be alone and find joy with being by yourself. I personally like to go for walks allot.

I'm not exactly sure why this was recommended to me, naybe as a call to action, to give advice. I have no odea whst the hell happened between you & your friend group but as someone whose disassociated voluntarily from a friend group, you just need to have a strong sense of self, it will make it easier. Your friends don't shape your identity, you do, so i would say use this as a means to find yourself, learn more about yourself and experience new things just because you want to, don't feel the need to share it eith otjer people unless they genuinely are willing to listen or care. But yeah, having a strong sense of yourself, will help quite a bit

I don't know much about your situation, but just know that what's lost can be found again; it may not be the same, but you WILL find new friends and be changed by them, just like you were changed by your old ones! Just try to work on yourself and don't worry about the past.

@bigsoprano you randomly popped in my feed and I just happened to listen for about 15 seconds and was interested. You touched on a lot of things id like to give advice but the Short of the long is that you were created for a purpose. I don't think you want to hear this but God created you and loves you. Friends and people will come and go but don't hold resentment in your heart. Push on harder through your struggles and reach the the end of the tunnel. Only to find there are more tunnels and dark spots ahead lol. Keep pushing. Find out who your creator really is. Humans aren't accidents of evolution. It's up to you but I believe you are more than strong enough to overcome. One day you'll have a wife and kids and all your heart will be with them and you'll look back and think the stress of today was silly and inconsequential. GL.

Idk who you are but yes, the people you surround yourself with are very responsible for who you are, your mood, success, etc. it’s perfectly normal to feel empty if you’ve got nobody. Spend some time offline and enjoy the real world, suddenly none of this will weigh so heavily on your mind
