@@sokrebis Not necessarily. Few years ago, when I went of the trail and crashed 30+ mph in to a rock garden the first thing I did after the crash was to ask from my buddy "Is my bike ok?". I ended up to get a ride from ATV and ambulance to the nearest hospital and had surgery next morning. Luckily, I only had strained neck/upper back and broke a collarbone that now has a lot of metal on it. Without a proper protection (fullface helmet, elbow, back, shoulder, knee etc. protections) the results would have been much worse. The bike suffered few scratches on handlebar and fork. :D

I had many crashes, but had one 2 months ago and it was horrific. I always did ride bravely, but this time is when i realized man this is not worth it. I could be looking at career ending crashes. I love going to gym and other stuff and love mtb. But the crash put some sense into my head. Luckly i ended with bruises, light concusion and pain, but i was literally 2-3 cm away from breaking all my fingers, ribs, knee etc. I will still do mtb, but i wont take risks anymore. This sht aint worth my handicapped bones. Stay safe bro.

Glad you are safe Blake! Thanks for doing a video on protective gear - even if it was an ad. I would like to see more about protective gear. As I get more bold with my mountain biking I am taking more risks. Things like chest protectors, neck protectors, knee and elbow pads, can all get quite expensive. Additionally, there are so many choices and variations on this equipment. A guide breaking down the pros and cons of various bits of protective gear could help some of us stay safer and make the right investments in appropriate safety kit. Thanks a ton for reading!
@daswienerle30183 ай бұрын
In my experience it's also quite a bit of trial and error. Everyone is different and not every gear fits you like it should. Knee pads or a chest protector for example. It also depends on what you are riding. For a bike park you need different gear than for a normal trail ride or an enduro race. And let's be honest, mountainbiking in general is just expensive so it won't be cheap.
