I can't believe that you reacted to ARKONA, one of my most important bands and a love of my life, always filling my heart with their endlessly beautiful message of nature worship and standing against the insanity of our modern society. Masha, the vocalist of Arkona, is not only breathtakingly talented switching between her heart-melting cleans and her obliterating growls, she is also an impressively pure and sincere human being who desperately yearns for mankind to stop all the atrocities against our environment. Rarely heard of a more impressive and more passionate person than her - and ARKONA as a band definitely DESERVE so much more attention and love, as it's not exaggerated to call their musical evocations magic!🖤🌿🌾 Next, dude: "V pogonie za beloj ten'yu" (Live), "Kob'", "Ydi", "Liki Bessmertnykh Bogov", "Slavsia, Rus", "Vozrozhdenie" - you won't regret it, I promise!!!💥 That I took my time to write this comment even though I'm not supposed to have time right now shows how special ARKONA are and what a special place they have in my heart. Please continue to give love to this band, our world is in dire need of their message!💚🌾✨️

Glad to see you check out Arkona! They're definitely one of my favourite folk metal bands, and this album is easily going to make it into my top 5 for the year. They've gradually been shifting away from their more traditional death/folk metal style into atmospheric black metal, and it culminated beautifully here. If you're interested in checking out their earlier, more folky style I'd recommend their song "Goi, Rode, Goi". That album also has my absolute favourite song of theirs, "Na Moey Zemle". It's basically the story of a Russian traveller on a journey around Europe, featuring guest vocals from five other folk metal bands. It's a 15 minute monstrosity sung in 6 different languages without a word of English, and I love it.

Finally someone did an Arkona reaction! Been listening to this band for about 15 years now ever since I first heard Masha's voice on the song Goi Rode Goi, which I highly recommend. I have seen them live 3 times in small ass venues in the US and loved seeing them every time. Masha is a metal goddess and another queen of death growls.

I thought I preferred their older style to the blacker development, but this is a gem, possibly even my favourite. 'Rus' will always stand out, and the decade of glory show dvd is outstanding

Arkona is one the bands on my ever growing "need to check out more"-list. Loved everything about this song. There is another great russian folk metal band called Grai, I think you would like "Mlada" and "In the arms of Mara" for starters.

Yes, they've changed to pretty dark and sinister black metal and death metal in the course of the last albums, they don't use folk instruments that much anymore. I guess as times become more rough these days, the sound of the band is also meant to adjust to what is happening in the world.

That was pretty epic, of course i have no idea what she was saying but musically and vocally i enjoyed it very much. Starting out all brooding and calm and building to that end was superb. Very nice find, TY Cosmic ❤ and ✌️

surprisingly melodic piece, on the point. not too dramatic, not too harsh. it reminds me a bit of an icelandic movie called "málmhaus", which translates to metal head. it's of course - being an icelandic movie - melancholic and sad, but also a bit funny. it'S different from american movies. long scenes, slow story telling. the actress is not a singer, but petur bens music created for the movie is awesome.

Arkona, legendary russian band. Over 20 years and 8 albums, one re-recording from the first album "Vozrozhdeniye (2004) and plenty of live shows in YT. What you hear here, she does it effortlessly live, and her energy is almost unbeliavable. You wont find a better *guttural female voice* in whole Metal, period, with some many layers, emotions and complexities in her voice that is almost impossible to describe - you just need to listen to believe it. Widely known in the metal scene, and her voice very easily recognizable. BUT, the band style been changing a lot over the years. They used to be a folk metal with death and some black elements (switching between growls, clean singing, choirs, folk instruments such as flute, piano, accordion, etc.). Starting from Yav (2014), Khram (2018) and Kob (2023), the band started to explore new grounds with a mix of progressive rock, black folk, some electronic elements and an overall darker, less happy-folkish feel. In Kob, they just went full black folk, while Khram still has some progressive sounds with some electronic and a overall very heavy vibe. From Kob, you should listen: *"Kob"* (videoclip) *"Mor"* (videoclip) *"Ydi"* From Khram, a very spiritual, dark and brutal album, one of my personal favorites, i recomment the full album, specially: *"V ladonyakh bogov"* *"Khram"* *"Tseluya zhizn"* (a crazy 17 minute song !!) *"Rebyonok bez imeni"* From Yav: *"Na strazhe novyh let"* *"Zarozhdenie"* From Lepta (second album) *"Marena"* (lovely melodies and brutal growls) From Goi Rode Goi, the album they probably stablish themselves as one of the best folk metal bands *"Goi Rode Goi"* *"Tropoiu Nevedannoi"* *"Yarilo"* (great to dance a little bit and the first song i heard from them, instantly hooked) *"Arkona"* (one of the most easy to listen from them) And from Ot Serdtsa K Nebu, one of the best folk metal albums ever produced *"Ot Serdtsa K Nebu"* *"Pokrovy nebesnogo startsa"* *"Sva (live) - Track 10"* (if you can, listen to the live show with this exact description, its beautiful) *"Katitsya Kolo"* (THIS is THE song to see what Masha can do and, let me tell you, its out of this world) *"Nad propast'yu let"* (seriously, pure over the top brutality - Masha just goes nuts with her non stop destructive growls) sorry for the very long comment, but a band such as this deserves to be explored and discovered. I did it over many years and i was never the same again, musically speaking. Hope you like my suggestions! :)

Big fan of this band. Folk death is like my favorite genre. I know I recommended this in another video, but parts of this just reminded me of Vintersea's style. VINTERSEA - Befallen. There's a different video offering. I have both of their (Vintersea) albums on vinyl if that tells you how much I love them. Edit: I'm an idiot - they have 3 albums.
