I laughed out loud when you said "I like walks" because I had such an intense memory of the VERY LONG walk you took me on from like Finchley to Highgate and I remember following you and just constantly thinking in my head "WHERE IS SHE TAKING ME?!!?!?!"

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic we bought a few books on amazon and my kids loved this new book called “Tony And His Mythical Friends”. They love the illustrations of the mythical characters. Great story about friendship and inclusion. I like it because it opened them up to the idea of enjoying the outdoors!

You babe. Also, I very much enjoyed Braised Pork. It’s super allegorical. Not perfect by any means but lots to think about x

Hi Jen, thank you for your video...always love making a cup of tea and listening to you talk about your recent purchases. One thing that has brought me joy this week has been being able to go to my local library again. I got Blue Monday and absolutely devoured it...thank you SO MUCH for this recommendation....I'm heading back to the library today for Tuesday... thanks again. Love your channel and all you do. Emma xx

Really like the sound of In Praise of Paths by Torbjørn Ekelund so that has gone on the TBR, as well as The Museum of Whales You Will Never See. I can recommend Walking by Erling Kagge too

Maybe I bought 6 books on bookdepository yesterday evening. But they were on sale and because of the Reading Rush later this month there is a code for 10% off... so there was no way I couldn’t buy books. 🙈

I've just finished The Rain Heron by Robbie Arnott and it was stunning. It's been a while since I read a book that had me totally enthralled. The writing is beautiful and contains a powerful message. There is some fantastic fiction coming out of Australia at the moment, and this is one of them.

Hi lovely, thanks for sharing. I had a similar ‘felt sad, bought books’ moment, I bought Accessible America: A history of disability and design by Bess Williamson, BRIT(ish) by Afua Hirsch, and High School by Sara Quin and Tegan Quin. Also feeling sad about the lack of walking. The books you mentioned sound all pretty great, I like the idea of reading flash fiction right now especially as my concentration is diminished. Really hope you’re well Sophie x x

I wish I could afford to buy books. OUr library is only doing limited click and collect and you have to know exactly what you want so I'm currently reading Brit(ish) The Overstory, Silver Sparrow and Gingerbread by Helen Oyeymi. There's so many books I'd love to read tht I have heard about on YT and hope they get them in some day,.

I'm beginning to think you own all the beautiful books - you've quite a few that I haven't heard of before, but think I need to look into. Thank you for discovering and sharing them. The last book I read was Pet by Akwaeke Emezi, which was a little bit like a fairytale and moralistic but also had something of a great friendship at its core whilst dealing with some hefty themes. Either way, I liked it. I hope that you find some new favourites from this haul.

I finished Jini Reddy 's Wanderland and loved it. And somehow that got me thinking obliquely (strange ways of the mind) and now I am pouring over Speaking of Siva by A K Ramanujan. I am not a religious person but I have always been intrigued by the concept of Shiva.

And here I was thinking I'm the only one who does sad book buying :-). Lots of books in this haul that sound fascinating, particularly Wayétu Moore's memoir and The Vanishing Half. Did you know that there's a movie that's loosely based on The Blank Wall? I don't know if it does the book any justice since I never read it, but the movie is definitely worth your time. It's called The Deep End and the excellent Tilda Swinton and Goran Visnjic star in it.

Everybody Should Have a Man sounds interesting. I also need to finally check out Nicci French. I finished Imago by Octavia Butler (the conclusion of the Xenogenesis trilogy) last night and am excited to read more of her work.
