Different bait and maybe a slightly longer leader? I like this idea of seeing what bait the fish are/are not interested in.

I’m mostly a Midwest Bass fisherman. I did surf fish Hilton Head SC last year and had a blast. One bait shop recommended Finger Mullet as bait. We also used some Costco shrimp without a float. We moved the bait every couple minutes to keep the crabs off. That camera is neat and that footage is amazing!

I’m thinking it’s the leader and float and not the Jack. It would be good to try Jack again with a plain hook and mono/fluoro leader.

If you want those Reds, Carolina rig, bait shrimp reel slow on bottom, also great for flounder!

I had recently came across an olive snail. It was wrapped around the hook and little piece of shrimp I had on my pompano rig. I thought it was a once in a life time thing. Never knew the name or that they took your bait like that. Thanks for the info and great video.

Maybe have a couple of different bait options. Lots of factors why they won’t eat

I eat jack crevalle I prefer using squid for bait usually fish can't resist it

Give it a try with mullet, pinfish or croaker

What was the reason to use titanium leader here ?

Good video. I’m thinking fresh dead shrimp or sand fleas would’ve been irresistible (depending on what you’re targeting)

That is the fun. Especially when you have a camera and can see. I would say the first is the bait. Most fish didn't even attempt to check it out.

On the surface this is a discouraging video but if you think more it taught you what not to use. First don’t use jack creville for bait. Second your tackle looked very visible. I also always wondered how much of a distraction the camera might be

Sometimes it’s a huge distraction

The fish see the black shank of your hook. cover it, I use a piece of shrimp I saved from cooking my dinner to go on the shank. Also , cut your bait so that it has a skinny tail, which will wave in the current. Get rid of the white float, use a clear one.

I hate them olives. Lol. I reposition my bait constantly because of those things. I didn’t know about them either till I watched another video of one burying the floor bait. Since then, that’s all I can think about is some olive snail burying my bait. I think the bait is too close to the float and the float is pretty big. To take the bait they would almost have to take the float as well

I used to do a lot of fishing 🎣 I know this is what your fish I think it's that lure that yellow and white floaties really and for some strange reason I feel like fish have evolved and they know when it's a trap I used to use floats I wasn't catching anything soon as I remove it and went in again about an hour later I caught fish
@BeatrizToro-t4v6 ай бұрын
Could be anything. I almost never use floats or beads and still catch a lot of fish. Maybe its the cut bait you're using. I always recommend to use sardines (pilchards), best bait in my opinion. Chop them up, mix them with marine salt, let them dry and solidify for a few hours and you're ready to go.
@chuckpeck83236 ай бұрын
Wow, Nearly every opinion possible here. You really need a side by side presentation of different rigs or baits to learn why no bite. Some times fish just aren’t feeding. Great footage though.
@timallaire16 ай бұрын
With all that crap on your tackle no wonder you're not getting a bite especially if a hardtail won't bite they'll usually eat anything. No beads, light fluorocarbon leader and a small live fish like a pinfish, mullet or croaker will get a redfish or bluefish to bite. I'd use a slip rig with 2-3 feet of light fluorocarbon leader, circle hook and just enough weight to hold in that current. Sometimes it's worth the risk of getting cut off occasionally rather than using a leaded that fish can see.

Ok, I'll bite and leave a comment! I would cut the bait so that it will flex like a swimming action. Not just a blob on a hook. And hide more of the hook with the bait. I don't believe the float will matter if the cut bait has more action.
@tonyfield23606 ай бұрын
Pretty obvious. The float is scaring the fish off. Predatory fish are very visual, which is why we try to hide the rig near the bait.
