I highly recommend trying new game plus, the feeling of getting revenge on all the bosses that packed you up is too good to ignore, btw if you want to use the Wukong stance outside of chapter six, you'll have to beat the game three times, max out all the relics, and strictly get the true ending where you fight Erlang. However, while the damage it does feels great and the voice lines you get are empowering, the stance only lasts for a few moments.

@@Comedydude1316 honestly NG+ only the final boss gave me excess trouble, with the Bishui Beast, Yaksha King and Erlang taking two fights. You don’t have to go NG++ if you don’t want all the relics, cuz if you played optimally (got everything from both runs) you’ll have enough for all achievements. Maxing all the spirits and armor though… is a different story. For whatever reason the game decides you can’t just buy more Celestial Ribbons, Blood Bull Iron and Void Knots. It gets to be pretty irritating.

To explain the ending, the old monkey is actually a bad guy, he wants another monkey, the Destined One, to inherit Wukong's power, but not his mind, so the Heavenly Court could enslave Wukong with the Golden Headband again, he doesn't know that you already got Wukong's mind and memories from Erlang, hence why at the end, instead of taking the headband, the Destined One shot a laser out of his eye, that was the sign that Wukong has finally been reborn, in the original story, when Wukong was born, he shot lasers from his eyes

If the old monkey puts it on the Destined One, he is fated to serve the Heavens once more, and that is not what Wukong wants. And we don't need to "prove ourselves". We already have everything that makes Wukong, Wukong. And the laser eye thing was a reference to the original story, when Wukong was born he shot a laser out of his eyes. And if you actually paid attention to the true ending cutscene Wukong literally says "Watch me rip it off and break free" which means he considers the headband a prison
