Thanks! I think I did that achievement a couple videos ago, but that might have been on the content creator build and it's gotten much harder with the early access build. If I have time, I'll put one together. I was also thinking about doing one for the guide channel where I show a build order for the harder difficulty - that might help as well

Yeah that helps with getting a couple early camps before the Baron does, but it's not crucial to winning this scenario. I'll have to redo this with the bandit camps turned off as I think it helps much more than it hurts the player (or helps the Baron).

It's a good thing the recent patch testing decreases ail consumption greatly. Just waiting for them to fix the Baron hiring up all the mercenaries, makes it very difficult to win the mercenary only challenge.

A game I would absolutely love for you to cover is Gates of Hell: Ostfront. It's probably the most in depth WW2 RTS there is and it is getting better with every update. Maybe you don't like that sort of thing but if you do I'd definitely check it out!

I think with trade allowed, it wouldn't be too bad since you can make money very quickly and convert it over to treasury. You can hold off raids with 1 fully upgraded retinue (24 units, not 12) and lose 4 - 6 of them per 4x raiders. I think you can probably hold off the baron's army with 2 or 3 retinue, so assuming the expansion isn't blocked and you rush 3 towns, I think it's very doable!

A bit cheesy, and the AI pathing sometimes does well, but if you contest a claim and can kite the enemies for 90 days, and keep them from entering the battlefield it can be a fairly cheap way of getting territory. had them chase me to 3 corners of the map before the time lapsed.

At around the 49-50 minute mark you build your farm setup and choose farm plowing for your upgrade, but then later you do it again. Was it a bad cut or a reload or something?

Yeah that would have been better, but I was trying to have regional wealth only come from burgage plots on this run. I don't think I explicitly stated that in the rules, but that's what I was going for :)

with that much regional treasure, you could tax the percent needed to maxout retinue, how much would be the moral hit for the town?

On this difficulty setting, it's a lot! Even at 1% tax it hits like -2 or -3 per month, but keep in mind the longer you keep the tax up, the more it spills into the "previous month" category so -2 will become -12 or -20 eventually if you leave it on long enough. I remember testing a 50% tax month and everyone in the town left quickly LOL

@@StratPlays but it would be for only a month, with your aproval at 100% like in the end of the video you could tax the amount to lose 50 approval, and get almost 2000 treasure. And a advice, al the beggining when the baron is trying to get the 1st territory even if you dont have the strength to fight is good idea to click and start a war, because it lasts 3 months, in 3 months he will not be able to reclaim other territories, so you can slow him a little bit

yes! they will live in the manor and their job will count as 'servant' afaik. Not sure how they function besides that.

Yeah the manor house gives you 2 useless families. They eat food and use firewood, but you can't assign them to work so basically useless. You can use them as militia, but they are stuck at level 1 so they can't equip armor past the helmet.

I think you might be right - although you could always just turn it off just for this challenge! Or just ignore the tax and stick to a single region and accept that you'll be in debt forever lol

Hi :) just to clarify this was pre beta right ? If i'm correct the camp cant be upgraded anymore. Curious about it cause I tried it without the option to up it and have people also warmed up in it. It's not anymore an option if i'm correct so a real roof becomes a requirement too to get to 50% quick. On the new "beta" so far i found early survival extremely RNG based because my build makes me go to 25% temporarily. I might need to try it by save scumming and reshuffle the start to have a berry+hunters+rich iron, or use more the tents than before.

like at 6!40, the game becomes RNG based. I feel there "should" be a way to avoid below 25% by playing the game perfectly, for ex there should be a way to ensure 26% or more by having the tent fueled up, or some debuffs a couple points less than currently so it's possible to survive the early days without relying on luck and reloading saves

This was done on 0.7.955 (not the current experimental build). With that being said, I think this can still be done on the current patch! You don't need to upgrade the worker camp to survive the early start (and I usually don't actually, it's a slower start IMO).

Duplexes definitely consume 2 food per plot, not 1 (both myself and Tacticat has spend dozens of hours running tests on this subject - we feel confident in this). Firewood is 1 per plot as you suggested.

correct me if im wrong - but ive seen multiple people say that artisan workshops (workshops in general) are better on multi-family plots as its quickens production? yet you are doing the opposite

It depends on how much production you wait - I wanted to limit production here since I wasn't selling excess. If you have to pause production, you cannot use those workers from the artisan shop, but they still consume firewood, food and ale.

This is a fun challenge! I guess the most OP part about trading is importing in general and abusing the price manipulation that you can do in particular, so a "no import" restriction would have been fine aswell. But this is more hardcore of course

at 12x speed each month takes about 100 seconds (1min40sec) so you can ballpark it. Otherwise, if you're farming you can look at the estimated time to harvest and look for the next number that is divisible by 30 (all 12 months are 30 days in this game).

Nice! Great video! I was wondering is there is even harder challenge? Remove bandit camp spawn, since at this point it is better, the more you have, since you can use them for cash. So no bandit camps, first bandit attack after 1 year and then build your force without trading to withstand the AI attack.. then a slow grind to conquer the rest. I think it might be possible: 1. rush manor, church and one blacksmith to produce at least 20 polearms to withstand first bandit attack. 2. remove blacksmith to grow pop asap before rebuilding and then doing the same as in this video

Just saw that build black smith requires 5 silver, so you would need to update 5 plots wait 1 month and then destroy them, this would likley be very hard to do actually..

I was thinking about this same thing as well. Most likely I would just build bowyer and 5 warbows, then delete and rebuild. Use the archers to kite them around the map until I was ready lol

@@StratPlays Cool, i was able to kill the first attack with 5 retinue and 16 archers in the back, by fighting in the church courtyard (the gate is a great bottleneck). But success is not 100% reliable. But i think with the next patch to buff archers, our strats might be viable.

Awesome strategies. Learned a lot. But yeah, farming needs a rework. Thr easiest would be to set a harvest threshold of percentage grown. Once it's reached, they harvest and replant the next thing in the crop rotation.

The real challenge would be not to use the pause option. That would be a real challenge to deal with in real time. Also would feel more realistic. Pause the game all the time just make it too easy.
