Might be too late now, but if possible just do your no equipment run on another save (beginner mode) while getting the speedrun trophy (Beat game before 15 hours). Saves you having to do extra runs.

No, it's not true. The only thing you need for that trophy is to beat the game with nothing equiped. I got the platinum years ago, so I can say that for sure. Just beat Ansem.
