Everything in this game is based on stuff that Hololive fans would know. The mobs are all the fan groups of the various Hololive vtubers, for example the shrimps are Gawr Gura's fans known as chumbuds and the skeletons are Calliope Mori's fans known as deadbeats. All the weapons and power-up also relate to the various Hololive girls. If you're not already a fan, all this stuff is just whatever/makes no sense to you. All the music also comes from Hololive talents. The game is exceptional quality for being completely free as a fan project.

- Each character has 3 unique passive skills that don't take up slots. They max at level 3. - All weapons max out at level 7. - Having two specific weapons maxed out allow you to make a collab (combine two weapons into one super weapon), giving really good effects/DPS as well as freeing up a slot. - Weapons and Collab Weapons can be given +1 with anvils, but this costs coins and the success rate gets lower the higher you buff them. This only increases that specific weapon's damage and no longer has any new special effects. You are better off normally maxing out other weapons first, as they tend to have good effects at the max level and allow for Collab's. - Items have various max levels ranging from 1, 3, 5 and 7. - Super versions of items (of which you dropped the Milk in this stream) are only available from drops, not level ups and are better than their maxed normal versions without downsides. Extra - All the enemies are based on what the fans of each Hololive member's fandom are called. - All the weapons, items and collabs are all references and inside jokes to each of the Hololive members.

When you get 2 or more weapons at lv7, if they're compatible a goldeneanvil will appear and you can combine them. I'm not sure if enhanced weapons (+1, +2, etc) can be combined

They can, and apparently the enhancements will apply to the evolved versions. I do not know if that means the level of enhancement is reset however, which seems like it would be pretty OP. What I mean is, as an example, if you have the Glowstick + 1 and the Holobomb +1, will their collab weapon (AKA evolution) be +2, or if their collab will not have a + number, but STILL have the bonus 40% damage from the glowstick and holobomb. Because if THAT is the case, then it means the success chance for collab weapons is reset to 100/90/80% as well…that sounds kind of busted, lol.

@@TheAHuman Certainly it shouldn't count before the big update, as for it being easy, without any game knowledge beforehand and going in blind, I would say it's not easy at all. Not like a great achievement, but out of all the people I've watched play it (Which includes almost all the Holomembers), there's maybe only 2? that I've seen do this, including Nate here. Good on you for doing it. For me, I won on my second attempt, after buying a few upgrades (Not blind though). On my first attempt I got to minute 29 and died to the final wave. Was just barely not powerful enough to get through it.

I'm sure you've gotten this explanation (or figured it out by now if you kept playing), but the skills are specific to each character and you basically always get them unless you actively avoid leveling them. Not only does each character have their own playstyle based on their main/starter weapon which is unique to them, but also their skills affect how they play quite a bit. I like Holocure more than I enjoy VS. It's not just because I'm a fan of Hololive either. I'm not knocking VS, as this is a matter of taste, but there's a lot of things that Holocure does that sets it apart from VS while still drawing a lot of inspiration from the core gameplay of it. If it weren't a fan-game, I'm sure it would be a lot easier for more people to get into it without the barrier to entry of being unfamiliar with the source material it draws from. Then again, the fact that it's a free, fan-made game makes it all the more impressive how much work and polish has gone into it with a lot more content to come (such as 70+ characters if they commit to their goal of adding every member of Hololive to the game as playable characters). Edit: also, the plug-type asacoco is not a tentacle. It's much worse.

So a few key mechanical differences between HoloCure and Vampire Survivors: 1. There are 4 drop types: Weapons & Items work similar to VS. Skills (star icon) are character-specific and slotless, and Stat-Up (red + icon) are just free increases to stats and slotless. 2. Skills - there are 3 skills per character that each go up to Level 3. These basically guide how the character should be played. For example, Amelia Watson has Bubba her pet dog and two skills that improve all of her weapons (one that increases flat damage and attack speed and one that increases crit and eventually gives %chance to kill). This incentivizes Ame to go wide on her weapons (filling all 6 slots) rather than deep because having 6 weapons benefit from all of those buffs results in more net dps than 1 or 2 weapons going to max level early. 3. Each character's starting Character Weapon is unique to them and generally synergizes with their 3 Skills. 4. Super Weapons in HC are weapon + weapon, not weapon + item. Think of everything like the birds in VS. Every weapon (except the starting Character Weapon) has 1 or 2 other weapons they combo with. Character Weapons don't combo with anything, but reach a Super Weapon state automatically at level 7. 5. Anvils allow upgrading weapons beyond max level for the coin currency. It is recommended to only do this to Awakened Character Weapon or combo'd Super Weapons as the bonuses are lost on normal weapons when they combo into Super Weapons. Anvils can also just level up a Weapon or Item of your choice for free (basically acting as a free level up). 6. Rare versions of normal Items (like the milk and body pillow received) will have gold auras around them. They are functionally equivalent to their respective max level Item + a little extra. For example, level 5 normal milk gives the weapon size and pick up range equal to the values of the rare milk, but rare milk also gives a bit of maxHP up. These are extremely rare drops from boxes. Getting 2 in the same run was insane RNG. 7. Characters are unlocked via the coin currency gatcha (random lottery). Duplicate characters from the gatcha give +1% to Attack, Defense, Health and Speed up to 20%. No IRL money allowed. 8. Each character also has a Special/ultimate attack, which is a cooldown-based ability that can be unlocked via the main menu shop. 9. Later stages have actually complex bullet hell dodging mechanics.

Glad you're enjoying this game despite not knowing much about Hololive. I suggest looking into it more, can't avoid the rabbit hole anymore now :D All of the members are very talented and super entertaining. One item I can highly recommend to pick up are the Nurse's Horns, they give you a chance of healing a bit for every slain enemy. With how many enemies there are later in the game it really helps a lot. Also, that pink "tentacle" is not a tentacle, but I leave it to you to find out what it actually is. And that thing that pops up from time to time is not an anchor, but an anvil.

learning to strafe helps , you basically 'lock' into the direction you're facing and you can run in any direction. Basically it locks the direction of your normal base attack while you go in a different direction. Also I recommend downloading the client launcher, the launcher will auto-update the game as they improve with future updates. Hint: you're getting swarmed by enemies, so the best thing to do is not prioritize your base weapon, its getting new weapons and specific ones, and leveling them to max 7 level to fuse them together. To get far in the game, you wanna survive by getting more weapons for AOE field control, the way you upgraded is setting yourself to fail at the end because its only good against bosses, 1v1 Exp gain (glasses) , and anvil should be priority, anvil upgrades one level for one of the skills you 'currently' have while boxes can give you something new, leveling up can give you new stuff. My best go to is to get SpiderCooking for the Miasma. You fight only Shrimps + Skeletons at the start and the Miasma instant kills the Shrimps even at level 1, and kills skeletons b/w 3-5 seconds give or take, which is RLY good.

In VS terms, all Evolutions function as Unions. You need two compatible weapons levels to 7, and then the opportunity to Union them will appear.

I also took their hearts (yikes, took their hearts?) as a sign of them being happy, but I've seen quite a few first time players wonder if that's supposed to signify healing in this game. Which is kinda funny since when people don't know about healing in this game, they just don't know (that killing and leveling is the way to find ways to heal). Edit: Getting two Super items in your first run is pretty wild. I was pretty lucky on my first run and got one, too. Then I had some additional luck and unlocked characters with their alt costumes. Edit 2: I don't remember if Vampire Survivors does this, but HoloCure merges the EXP once there's a lot of it in one place so you'll sometimes see a lot of blues turn into a green, or suddenly see a yellow really early on in a run. But most other comments have already mentioned that Bubba, the dog, picks up EXP. Oh, and seeing your 8 month old Reaper kill guide in the side recs made me realize I've watched your stuff before lol

Some context for the enemies. All the enemies you face are the fans of the Hololive girls under a kind of curse going on a rampage. It is their job to save their fans by basically beating them up, snapping the fans out of the curse. I guess Nathaniel skipped the intro cutscene because it gave a sort summary of what happened before the game starts. All the enemies are based on the Hololive girls' fanbase names. These are Stage 1's For the Myths Gawr Gura - Shrimps (Shrimps wearing the blue hoodies and axe are based on an MV done by one of the devs) Calliope Mori - Dead Beats (Dead Beats wearing the black jacket and bats are based on an MV done by one of the devs) Takanashi Kiara - KFP Employees (Designed by Ina.) Ninomae Ina'nis - Takodachis (They are octopi, not slimes and were designed by Ina herself.) Amelia Watson - Teamates (Originally the wierd dog based on Grimace named Thicc Bubba before changing to alligators named Investi-Gators) For the Council Ouro Kronii - Kronies (I have absolutely no idea where this design came from. I checked and it is official, but I have yet to find the original source of their creation.) Hakos Baelz - Baerats (Originally based on her mascot Mr. Squeaks before being change to the Rat Bros) Tsukumo Sana - Sanalites (Originally based on her mascot Yatagarasu before being changed to the Bread dogs) Nanashi Mumei - Hoomans (Design is original to Holocure though they have an official design, but it was made after Holocure's most recent update. 0.4) Ceres Fauna - Saplings (Design is original to Holocure) For HOPE Irys - IRyStocrats (The old designs was made by the devs since Irys didn't have any kind of thing to base the fanbase before replacing them with Bloom and Gloom done by Sana) The two bosses not based on a fanbase are based on two different things. Fubuzilla(Fubura) - (Is based on a HoloGra episode where Fubuki suddenly became a Godzilla creature that destroyed the city with her Fan Beam) Smol Ame - (Is based on an animator by the name of Walfie who's design of the titular gremlin were gifs of Amelia doing her usual thing, but in Chibi form. Her signature ground pound was based on a mom joke she said "Nothing beats a ground pound. That's funny, because.... Because that's what I did... To your mom last night! Hehehehe...!")

You save the fans in this game and is why your "kill" count looks like a dizzy icon. It's a knockout count and how many you've done it to. No one really cares to make that distinction so it's just kill count by now and the joke is that you save the fans by killing them.
