I was originally just planning on waiting for season 3 of the anime instead of reading the manga. After a couple years of no sign of it returning and seeing thumbnails on KZbin about Garou becoming a monster I just couldn’t wait any longer and I read it. I absolutely loved it! The war arc might just be my favorite arc in the series. The comedy, the emotions, the battles were all expertly crafted by ONE and murata. Now with season 3 finally being announced I can’t wait to see this beautiful artwork finally come to life.

Opm is such a goated manga. It went from a series mocking typical overpowered shounen characters to a story that has genuine feeling. Saitama is a great protagonist as it explores his depression of reaching the pinnacle if strength and becoming bored with life. Not to mention how relatable he is despite being the strongest man in existence. Garou is a great antagonist with a unique backstory that had me thinking, when will the monsters ever beat the hero? His personality was great and he was a great character to juxtapose the protagonist: a man who has everything to gain vs a man who has nothing to lose. The evolution of this manga was an enjoyable ride and the art was so good during fights. It exploits shounen tropes in a unique and interesting way and I'll love the series for that

I was planning on reading the One Punch Man manga for a long while, but Just Some Guy without a Mustache changing his profile picture was what tipped me over the edge. The ability to give One Punch Man of all series actual stakes and teeth-clenching moments while never giving up on the innate stupidity of a guy who beats everything in one punch is extraordinary. Just when I thought this past arc peaked, it just kept going without a sign of slowing down. Some drop-dead gorgeous artwork, fights built on pure insanity, ridiculous characters and scenarios, alongside fleshing out characters besides the main cast... just an all-around radical ride. I hear that the webcomic and manga are diverging in certain ways, and that definitely makes me want to catch up on the former some day too.

The webcomic and manga have many differences, but neither is objectively better or worse. Just keep in mind that the story is being told by the same person, ONE, so any changes and additions made to the manga are deliberate. I think ONE intends for the manga to be the definitive version of his story overall.

In webcomic there is an interesting state of Garou/Saitama right. Garou has the Shounen genre behind his back, while Saitama has Seinen behind his. One is bothered by injustice, while the second one represent the "god desiring to create an immovable stone" and etc. There are some deep things in themes and such.

I love this series so damn much. Whenever I read something new, what I look forward to the most is finding interesting characters that I can resonate with. And one of OPM's strongest features for me is its wide variety of lovable characters. Murata and ONE do such a great job at distributing the screen-time/progression between all of them, and especially with the latest arc and how long it was. The manga has went so far off the rails compared to the webcomic , both for better and for worse . Like the Saitama vs Garou fight was really incredible , but it also omitted many good scenes and lines , such as Zombie man watching Saitama vs Garou and the line "Zombie man witnessed as , in front of the unknown B class hero , a wall of black appeared" when Saitama did the Serious Table Flip , and many more great scenes for the secondary cast like Darkshine , Puri-Puri Prisoner , Sweet Mask and many others

personal brief summary of my feeling for Murata's Garou arc: Packs a bigger Punch, less focus on the Man. There's a reason why Murata wanted to redraw the webcomic. Even if One was co-authoring the new changes, something was definitely lost. I'm updated with the Murata's publication, and the art is outstanding. But tbh, I'm more interested to see more chapters on the webcomic.

I like the Web Comic ending better, but the Heroes vs Guild arc as a whole, I liked what Murata did One simply saw that he has the best action artist in the industry, and is enjoying the partnership, it's hard for me to say the best moments, because this manga in each chapter is having 10 of them funny and impressive and Garou and Bang deserve to come back as master and student, I loved the regrets and learnings of this old man and his disciple realizing in the end that being a monster or a hero doesn't matter more than being happy.

Enjoyed the webcomic more when it came to Saitama vs Garou. Felt more simple, kinda like Saitama vs Boros. Especially enjoyed the character development Garou had from the fight. Both were hella entertaining to read though.

Garou vs Saitama in the manga was awesome, but it sort of felt like the Boros fight on a grander scale. In the webcomic Garou was the embodiment of martial arts, Boros was the first to take a punch from Saitama and keep going, Garou was the first to dodge and parry Saitama's attacks. Garou vs the S class was also so much more badass in the webcomic, it felt like a throwback to Garou vs 8 heroes, sort of a "look how far we've come" moment

@@thomasdevlin5825 the way I see it, the manga had its own alternatives to what you just mentioned. Garou’s fight with Saitama didn’t showcase too much of his martial arts like they did in the webcomic, but we got a lot of that in his fight with Bang. He didn’t fight the S class heroes, but he fought Blast, who if I remember correctly was stated to be able to beat all the S class heroes himself if they fought him at the same time (from what we’ve seen, I think it’s safe to say that statement is true). And even for some other moments like when he made Saitama punch himself in the webcomic, he copied Saitama’s power and hit him with it. Not going to argue that the manga is “better” because it’s all subjective anyway, but I do like how the manga seemed to implement those aspects of the webcomic into the manga in a different way.

The thing is he didn’t lose that power, he always had it, he just never had the means to access it, he has unlimited strength but no means to use that strength, but whenever he meets something requiring that strength to beat it, Saitama will be able to access that strength to defeat his opponent, that is why he kept increasing in power exponentially with Garou, because Garou was copying Saitama’s power and therefore growing exponentially because Saitama was also matching Garou and growing exponentially at a faster rate, which was the catalyst for Saitama’s gargantuan growth, such to the point that when the graph was presented Saitama was shown to be dozens of times stronger than he was before, and that’s because he finally got a means to draw out that power that he got when he broke his limiter

The Webcomic is really good too! There were a lot of differences with the latest arc, biggest being Garou fighting the S Class and God or Blast not being revealed yet, but nothing beats the Saitama feats, the artwork, or Garou development (achieving his goal transformation) that the Manga does.

As a battle manga, yes. Murata's art really adds to the action But as a coherent and provoking story, no. Webcomic just does it wayy better. If the manga had the same art as the webcomic. Ain't no way anyone saying that the manga is better.

Webcomic Garou was actually more of threat because we saw him tackle a lot of the S-Class. I think Manga should’ve stayed closer to the Webcomic but change it up a bit so it’s different in his own way. Manga OPM isn’t that bad I just think time travel is a very difficult thing to pull off and I really hope OPM can recover.

I do think situation could’ve been handled much better but ONE really wrote themselves into a corner. I genuinely have hope the series will still be good and find a way to make time travel somewhat decent. Time travel is a huge thing to tackle but can be done well. I think us as the readers should hold out some hope. You don’t really have to enjoy the series and it is what it is.

2:25 it’s a safe bet bc he’s literally the protagonist of that arc. It’s about him and it’s amazing. Yea, Saitama has his own shit(that I feel everyone can relate to), but this is one of the few times you just get true focus on a villain and you “root” for him to get to the apex that is Saitama. It’s his story, among others, in this arc. It’s such quality storytelling

Tbh, I know some people lament about some changes, but I do think those changes didn't come out of nowhere. The manga IS an adaptation after all, not a redraw, and if you're dissatisfied with how the manga went, tbh there's always the webcomic (albeit it hadn't updated in over a year, but that wasn't the longest hiatus of ONE, 111 and 112 had a two year gap). ONE is a writer that doesn't waste ink and paper. Even in the webcomic, it's clear what he outs in the page is pure brevity and then the plot gets going. The manga took the slow approach, and what was important that you've read in a chapter a few years ago may end up being relevant later. Even the sidechapters, that while doesn't push the main plot, are still pretty darn important as a whole. As a result of those cumulative expansion and changes led to a tidal wave of the manga gradually becoming its own continuity. Because the stakes are hugher, the characters interact more that deepen their bond, they get put into situations that didn't happen in the webcomic that gives them opportunity to make new choices or grow differently - the resulting plot happens because of that agency. If Garou hadn't encountered Tareo a few times before his kidnapping, he wouldn't be so conflicted with his heroic and malicious nature. If it weren't for Saitama spending more time with Genos or hearing a callout from King, he may not have changed all that much and have such a deep bond with both of them. If Blast was a lot harsher on Tatsumaki (and he was in the webcomic), she may turn out to be just as cruel and abusive as her webcomic counterpart. Tbh that's honestly why I'm fine with the way things are going. Also, I like to be kept on my toes.

One Punch Man has the best Art in Manga in my opinion. It has good balance of everything being drawn extremely well, is not just couple things that are drawn extraordinarily, and every character no matter how important they are have good and unique designs as well. (WARNING, SOME MANGA SPOILERS!) My big complaints about the series has been since the retcon that happend recently that extended the recent arc longer than it already was and needed to. They also ruined moments that the community was hyped for, for years now. Like Saitama fighting seriously, Blast's introduction, The Monsters, What happens with Genos, and the the God level threat (Which isn't all that interesting of a character, from what we've been shown thus far) And this happened after giving Garou an non unique final form design of being a galaxy man with galaxies all of his body like he's a Call of Duty weapon skin, and instantly him knowing everything in the universe and how to fight like everyone too instantly. With all that and the moment with Genos, it led to Saitama taking the fight with this new Garou form seriously, which ruined an amazing moment of that and what happend to Genos that could have helped with the story that already wasn't anything that crazy and elevate it higher, but they gave us those major things in the story when we know there's way more for us to do with Metal Knight, other people, and other places, and after all of that everything reverts to before it all happened and made all of those crazy things that happened feel like it was shown to us for no reason, and for it to all end in the same way it would have before the Retcon. So they wasted those moments that we've/I've been waiting for years, and new moments that would make the series even greater for an arc that was already over, and should have been over a while ago, instead of using those further in the story where they would have fit properly and had a greater impact, and not ruin all the other great stuff that happened in the story before than. So for anyone curious the difference between the webcomic and manga in the Saitama vs Garou fight: In the webcomic Garou underwent monsterfication by himself while the manga adds a mysterious entity that gives him a boost in power. I am of the opinion that this was done to build up the next arcs villain and overall the fight in the manga is less one sided as a result. For that matter many people has more time to shine in the manga overall compared to the webcomic where many heroes are just not on the same level as their manga counterparts outside of Saitama and Tatsukami. Something that has to do with the author One not being all that great at drawing so his original works focus more on the psychological aspects of his characters rather than the manga that adds more spectacle alongside the ideologies his artworks presents…

Yeah but Garou in the manga ate some parts of the monster's body that he defeated in the chapter that he is saving Tareo. Eating those monster flesh with having super strength made him so powerful before having the power of god. Many fans don't notice or forgot how he became a monster with yellow cracks to gargoyle form.

Yeah, they both have advantages over the other. And people seem to forget that ONE is still telling the story in the manga and is the one that’s deliberately making all the changes and additions (plus, I think he intends for the manga to be the definitive version by the end, otherwise it probably wouldn’t be as different as it is).

You should really read the monster association arc from the webcomic. The manga has recently turned into a stereotypical shounen, while the webcomic stays true to its roots as a parody. Also I think Garou in the webcomic was handled infinitely better in the webcomic.

Artistically, its hard to say what is the best picture or scene. But for me, my favorite moment reading for the first time was when Death Gatling was using his special move against Garou. We were just looking at Death Gatling head on with his gatling arm. The next frame was the same picture but his face was a skull. Now obviously this didnt really happen, but that framing and pacing just made it feel so serious and terrifying. His intensity gave the perception of death and i was just like “Oh, Garou is screwed now”. Haha it didnt turn out that way, but it had me so engrossed in the story, and the artwork was just so beautiful

The MA arc started off great. I was enjoying seeing the expansion of the story and characters. I didn't even mind the redraws. Then Garou reached the surface and every chapter after that declines in quality. Chapter after chapter of empty spectacle. By the time the epilogue came around, how they handled the aftermath of the arc I was done. I dropped it. I cancelled my preorders for the next few volumes coming out and am happy to leave the manga there. The webcomic did it better in every way, it's a pity it probably won't continue

I highly suggests trying the original webcomic (or at least the garou part), cause it delves into the philosophy of garou deeper and focuses more around the topic of what's truly a hero. Compared to the goofy anti-hero who teams up with heroes in the manga, the webcomic version completely shatters the facade of being a fake but likable hero of all the S class heroes, truly completing his purpose as an Absolute Evil before having his philosophy invalidated by Saitama's words and simple observation skills. That's peak wtiting there, and the fact that the manga cut all these out but still has a somewhat good writing tells you a lot about the writing capability of ONE
