Great job in spite of tech issues. It was actually kind of nice to hear the happy passengers in the back and the engines spooling up on take off not too bad of a plus. You still give the best explanations of what a flight entails of about anyone out there. I bet that route is going to get EXTREMELY busy in the near future with Greenland's recent business activity. Take care!

I appreciate the kind comments and for always watching! I'm hoping to go back at some point. They just announced that the Miami Dolphins will play in Spain, maybe we'll go for that 🙂

Geez, Wally, it sounds like the old... non-radar days. Oh wait... that was Before your time! Hahahaha...........

It is the old days! Totally out of radar coverage, but ADSB and TCAS make things a lot safer!

Welcome to the club. I did it single pilot this year. Gander to Reykjavik, Iceland.

Nice! That'll probably happen if/when we go back again. Have you flown around Europe Single pilot? Any grief doing that there?

@@AccidentalAviator No issues. Flew from Iceland to Bilbao. Set up my own handler in Bilbao. Return trip spent 3 nights in Glasgow. Just used the FBO in Glasgow and everyone was really great. Going to do it again this summer. No one questioned me flying single pilot. Make sure you have a 2nd Class medical.

@@N2112_CJ4 Sounds like a great trip and good to know! I have the 2nd class medical as I fly this plane for the owner. I wound up getting a 1st class prior to this trip just in case because I have read stories of some countries not understanding that our 2nd is the same as their 1st class.

Why is mach entry speed important
@AccidentalAviator2 күн бұрын
This is a great question and one that I should probably have addressed in one of the videos! Since you're out of radar coverage, the pilots are replied upon to maintain a speed that they choose (mach entry speed) and ATC uses this to assure you safe distance from other aircraft. Further, when you give a position report you're also telling them your mach speed and your estimated time to your next fix. If you don't call in with another position report at that fix, then they know to notify search and rescue. You could see that if we told them we'd originally plan to fly at Mach .69 and we could only hold .59 where that could be a issue with other traffic flying the same route as we were. This isn't just the Atlantic routes, but any place in the world that you'd be out of radar coverage.

@@AccidentalAviator Was HF radio was used in part of this trip? I sometimes monitor Gander Center.
@AccidentalAviator14 сағат бұрын
@@W1RMD We did not have HF radio on board when we went across, just normal equipment. I mentioned that in the "preflight" video. We have since added an HF radio though, and are planning to head to Bermuda in the coming months!
