Nitro can be a pain in the ass for a newbie, but once you get used to being able to tune it right is when the real fun starts. Yes they are loud, but we all were amazed by nitros and/or 2 stroke RCs when we first seen them.

Been fudging with nitros on and off for almost 20 years. I still have the original tmaxx. I have 10 vehicles in various states of operation but I'm about to get my first electric truck. Lipo batteries have opened up a whole new world and my kids don't have skills yet to play with my nitros when I'm not around

Funny you did this today... I found a Traxxas Revo 3.3 at a yard sale a couple houses up from me this morning. Guy said he hasn't used it in a couple years but everything was there. Got it for only $40!!! Piston was seized up but after breaking everything down I was able to free it up and get the truck running today. First time I'm messed with a nitro rc in many years... probably since my original Tmaxx. It was actually quite fun though I still hate the thought of buying nitro fuel for it all the time. Not sure if I'll keep this Revo or try to sell, we'll give it another tank or 2 before making a decision though.

Hey kev, just a tip dont tune to temp because a lean lsn and rich hsn will have good temp while not haveing suffiscient lube.tune your high speed untill you have clean sound.

Nice too see the sledgehammer run nicer. Bit shame about the savage xl, might be hard too find parts for as hpi is in quite a bit of a financial trouble. What nitro % do you run atm ? Seems like you could go a bit higher for these larger trucks like 25% nitro while keeping the small 1:16th scale on 16% nitro & a tiny bit hotter glowplug like half a step at best & richen it up slightly more might speed it up a bit extra. Also feel free too do a mini series on perhaps some indoor rc cars. Like the team associated 1:24th scale stadium truck & monster trucks. Giving them external battery mods, changing the motor size from 7x17mm too 7x20mm rpm wise it should be about the same as any other generic 7x20mm motor - 45 - 55000 rpm. (Electronics handles them alright as you'll most likely be on less throttle anyway if my tomy gx buggy is anything too go by, runtime also goes way up as the motor has more torque it doesn't pull as much current under load.) this thing is nuts too drive now when you pin the throttle on a grippy surface with the smaller lipo cells i got. (If i do donuts with my little tomy gx buggy on a not so grippy surface like smooth concrete it flips over within 5 seconds if im not easy on the throttle doing donuts with it. (the tomy gx buggy is a 1:32 scale buggy which has been cloned a whole bunch since like 2012 like for example the virhuck 1:32 is based on this buggy, larger tires & probably the same electronics, full steering left & right proportional throttle. wltoys a999 if you want a proper servo in the front like the team associated 1:24th/1:28th scale cars. Built like a tank, seriously full speed 22 km/h + into things & nothing has broken even with my mods. Unless you count ancient thin sticky tape holding the wing on as a part that has broken & me melting a bit of the plastic away too fit the motor in properly. With a pair of lego tires, now it flips over with my largest 400 mah 1s battery doing donuts with those tires. Stock motor couldn't do it with those tires without heating up a lot as they are much heavier then the stock ones, but it takes that motor fine even with those tires. The 400 mah battery stretches across most of the chassis, i can perhaps fit on a 450 mah battery but not any larger 1s lipo. Speed wise I'd estimate my gx buggy with the new motor does about 25 - 29 km/h on the surfaces I've tried it on so far. For this tiny buggy they are too rough too actually get up too top speed with the new motor, still fun too drive around in the basement though. (motor is from a dead hubsan h107l quadcopter and it was just laying around for a while until the original motor finally gave up after 4 years of running on & off doing lots of abuse too it.)

My 2-stroke VEKTA.5 satisfies my engineering tinkering bug, They are extra work for sure. but is like throwing a handful of 50 dollar notes away if I bash it hard, it's over 20kg. So there is always electric RC in the kit if i really need to air it out, send it ETC.
