10:28 NO - please do not confuse the "new" Visual Studio Code with the classic Visual Studio - There are lots of differences between the two, especially when the code your writing needs to be compiled or debugged. This is because vscode piggybacks of for example GDB which is installed along with the OS. In the classic Visual Studio, this is not the case, instead: Visual Studio installs not only a compiler, but also the debugging tools. Ontop of this the way you configure the two are VERY different. Visual Studio uses text files that are relatively easy to edit even using the most basic text editor. But vscode uses json and json has a few limitations: it does not support any kind of comments and the file is typically a single line, making it more awkward to edit it if your not used to editing json files.

Apple? The good guy? I don't understand...
@rezhaadriantanuharja33895 ай бұрын
I love Linux and have been using it for years but some of the ideas in this video just don't work: You mentioned freedom when talking about reasons to use Linux but the example you gave was hardware-related. I understand the argument against Apple but that simply holds no weight against Windows, since most Linux hardwares are simply old Windows Laptops. If you have the freedom to upgrade the RAM for Linux, you have the same freedom with Windows. Freedom of choice and Omakase simply do not mix. Omakase means you give up your freedom of choice and leave that choice to someone else. One of the main appeal of Linux is it being non-bloated. Modern Ubuntu itself is arguably bloated, Ubuntu with Omakub is definitely bloated, it being literally Ubuntu + pre-installed and pre-configured tools and apps. And why Chrome!? Why would anyone want a pre-customized tools that Omakub provides? It's like using someone else's neovim configs. Sure they have spent countless hours to make it beautiful and functional, but if it is not yours, you are not wired to use it efficiently. The argument that it is useful for someone new because it works out of the box and they can slowly customize things as they go is a tough sell especially if that someone is using a MacBook. Simply learn to configure and customize neovim and configure zrh. If they are comfortable doing these, they wouldn't have difficulties switching to Linux later on. I transitioned from MBA M1, simply clone my configs to EndeavourOS and boom I have everything configured, except the i3WM, which is not that difficult to configure anyway. The only valid reason to use Omakub is if you don't want to customize, don't want to use Windows, and don't want to spend a lot of money for a MacBook.
