Nice fishing! "Tenkara"(てんから) is mainly for surface (dry) fishing for up to approx. 1foot deep water. If water is deeper, you can tie a yarn indicator and use beaded wet fly to fish like Euro nymphing. You may have to adjust length of the line (shorter). 4.5m long rod may be better for that.

When I was about fifteen my parents dropped me and a friend off at the mouth of a canyon late November in Utah I only had hip waders and hit a pocket that filled them to the top wind was absolutely whipping down the canyon this was pre cell phone days and our parents weren’t scheduled to pick us up for another several hours, I’ve never been so cold

Another great video. I really envy the scenery around you while your fishing. Beautiful. Tell me, are the flies you use all sub surface, like a nymph or a wet fly? Or are they dry flies?
@TenkaraAddict3 жыл бұрын
They're all wet flies.

Hello, I really like fly fishing in the traditional sense but have tried to take some gear hiking and it’s a bit more work than I’d like to get started. The Kara seems to fit the need, is there a setup or starter set you’d recommend for this purpose?

I have often found, when there are a number of fish in one spot busily feeding, they can be very selective on what they will take.
@johnyorchak51623 жыл бұрын
Looks like the fish were taking the fly on the drift for the most part or were you giving it a little action that maybe we didn't see?

TA, early in the video you are seen tapping the grip with your index finger. Is that the manipulation that you refer to? Putting motion onto the fly?

Yes. Tapping it, lifting the tip up and down, etc.

I think that river is more for white water kayaking than for fishing. By the way, I don't know if you are a millionaire or not, but how in the hell can you afford all those rods? I can't afford one and so am limited to string and tree branch!

I get enough money from making these videos to help buy the rods 👍
