I FINALLY Got To Try The Highlander Rework

Ive been having fun as a rep 70 HL main for the first time in a loooong time. The rework just needs a few tweaks and I'm good. I took a huge break from For Honor but this TG has me playing constantly. Lil tip for people feinting the kick back to Defensivr Stance, make sure to let go of R2 as soon as you input the kick if thats your plan. (To parry or block or whathaveye) Otherwise youll throw out an instant DS heavy. Takes some getting used to for sure. But damn, this is so much fun. Feels like Ive got more tools to deal with HL's tougher matchups. :)

I actually prefer doing the Defensicd stance heavy as it's now faster and can catch dodge attacks now. Got a lot of kills from late dodges and dodge attackers on kick flash lol

What if you charge heavy highlander would fake and enter offensive stance himself? just like the forward dodge attack. Instead of hard fainting it.

I am no HL main. The only thing I would dare to change,it's that the dodge attack on OS only confirms a heavy, right now in Dominion it confirms both the HL and a Teammate's heavy. And apparently, the devs remove his wave dash for some reason

As a rep 70 I love the rework although I’d like a few tweaks with the grab such as: get rid of the side dodge caber. It’s a little too strong and I’d rather have wave dashing back. A side dodge bash that can grab through light chains is a little much but keep the forward dodge caber toss as a roll catcher.

@@southyonko6455 I mean, it had to go down at some point, they are nerfing all damages across the board. Better like that with a lot of compensations than randomly in the middle of a season. For defensive stance heavies they are much faster also

The real problem is the water dash remuved and when u dodge and do the grab is faster then kick true but is not good the reason is when u are in revenge u cant grab because after the grab for 1 second u dont have the hyper armor so u cant punish the enemy grabbed and that is a huge nerf when u get ganked, if u dont belive me just go check it

It’s 4 am and I’m here for this! I personally hate the rework. I love the top heavy, not keen on the kick feint if I’m honest. Wavedash being nerfed is a big L. The animations are horrible. Side dodge grab ? BIG L. You can’t get any one oos due to grab throwing them down. Plus it’s ugly… I pray this doesn’t drop. I personally would like kick to caber with hyper armour and normal kick. Keep top heavy gb and I’m more than happy. Imo he doesn’t need a rework, just tweaks

I don't hate the rework but wave dashing needs to be kept. Make side dodge kick faster but unfaintable while keeping the kaber changes otherwise. Lastly something to easily get into os since mfs can just stare you down.

Dodge kick doesnt exist every dodge option in the past that displayed skill and matchup knowledge is gone... Replaced by catch all dodge caber same with his offense... No more layers and complexity, matchups be damned its feint kick 24/7 it is the 1 size fits all better than everything mix up he has now... And these devs and the idiots that buy into them say "you can play highlander the same" you cannot... Every skill from past highlanders is irrelivent to the new highlander... And i wish players would just shut the fuck up pretending like the 4 years I spent learning the character and his relationships with others in combat... Means nothing now I have 2 one size fits all moves to spam for my every offensive and defensive action... This game is shit for doing their crowning achievement as a 3d fighting game... So damn dirty

Honestly it isn't bad at all, but for me, it took some time to get used to before I started liking it. There are some things that need to be changed, like dodge caber toss and wave dashing, but those are my only issues. And my only problem with dodge caber toss is its speed. Slow it down to be in line with live dodge kick and it'll be fine

No, new players, and players who are non-highlander enthusiasts before... Love this rework... It murders the previous skill floor that kept them,from wanting to play HL before.... And it makes his previously difficult, and hard to use viably KIT... Into a handheld, button cycle every choice is the right choice moveset... Full of 2 easy, mistake friendly moves in dodge caber and feintable kick... So that braincells are less active in the defense and offense of HL... And less (none compared to before) skill is required to utilize him against any given matchup... To,me (4 yesr HL player) this rework,is shit... It doesnt buff him in good ways and instead makes his entire moveset play differently, and easier than before making HL an entirely new character thats nothing like the one we It's fell in love with. We dont feel rewarded for our skill and game knowledge we feel forced into a simplified cycle of red pill or blue pill with no real separation between people who know... And people who dont and just button cycle. Highlander used to stand out as if you have skill it shows in how intentional, and precise your actions were... There is JACK SHIT intentional and precise about new highlander
