In NYS if the ticket cost $20, the minimum win per number is $20, so if you have 3 matches, that's at least $60.

That's how it should be! Florida will put $2 on tickets, get a 5x, and you're excited, then it's $2 . Shameful how some states are with their lottery! Not to mention all the losing tickets!

Same for most European tickets. No fake multipliers are allowed. Can't speak for every country, but at least in Norway, if you get a 5X symbol on a "match and win" ticket that cost 50 NOK, you will win at least 250 NOK.

I moved to Colorado last year, and the letters confused me at first too. Apparently every ticket has three of them, and if it spells out an amount, i.e. FTY, that means you win. They get you by making the first two make sense every time. Also the fake multipliers here suck, that's why I don't play nearly as often.

I think the letters in the scratch area are just there as a control measure. In Norway, we have three control numbers that we need to enter upon scanning a ticket, to get our prize money. These numbers are hidden somewhere on the ticket. Usually in the "your letters" area on a crossword ticket for example.
