I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

What I want to see is POST 10 taken to Justice Judy Court by the ABAA (the Angry Beavers Association of America). That would be - both literally and metaphorically speaking - A BLAST! Imagine a POST 10 dream sequence video with Judge Judy presiding over the case.... and the beavers are ready!

Speaking as a retail slave, many times when you find one of those weird deals on one can vs twin packs it is because they are discontinuing the single can package, changing brands, or just bought waaaaay too many and need to reduce volume (most likely here). Repel is a fairly large brand and not just a walmart knock-off. We've carried it for years in our non-walmart store. It IS cheaper than OFF using the same chems. You don't typically find the 100% DEET in anything but OFF products, though, which might work better on your flies. A mosquito head net should help keep them out of your eyes.

@@slc1161 The most effective spray I ever used was for treating military tents and areas only and had a UN chemical weapons warning on the side of the can. It also said if you're treating the inside of a structure to ensure ventilation AND wear a gas mask. We didn't have masks that day, so I tasted some "interesting" chemicals, and saw a few sounds.

I hate it as I know that wet rubber boot condition too well. Worst was in the army spending a week on mostly frozen swamp with leaking rubber boot and the other one was flooded too. Thick layer of skin just peeled off from the whole area after that week when my feet finally had chance to dry out. Pain wasn't really a thing as the cold took the feeling away.

Regarding the comment on the crowbar 15:00 - what about a fiberglass handled "drain spade"? They come in 4 foot handle lengths and would give you a little more flexibility than just a long metal pry bar. Just a thought - thanks for the double unclog video!

The machine cutting, sizing and de limbing is called a feller buncher, the other is either a (Grapple skidder) or a (forwarder,) This used to be done by a crew of people (Fallers) then they had to delimb it and cut to size though normally sizing and delimbing were done at the landing by a Bucker. Its amazing how much more efficient these machines are as well as the improved safety by not needing say 5-6 Fallers and the riggers, buckers etc. in the PAC NW the trees are in areas so steep you cannot use any of these machines you still have to have fallers, Riggers high line towers and buckers, loaders etc.
@davec2891
@davec2891 2 ай бұрын
The feller buncher measures the diameter of the tree as it rips off the branches to get an ideal length/diameter. As it reaches the end it'll run the tree back and forth to measure for minimum thickness, they're pretty impressive to watch.

Hey Post, I had deer flies plaguing me as I mowed since they're attracted to motion and dark colors, very annoying. What I did was get some blue solo cups (they like the color blue particularly for whatever reason) and spray adhesive like tanglefoot, use little zipties to affix the cup to an old trucker hat with mesh top and spray the cup. It catches about fifty deer flies per hour of mowing. Too late in the year to worry about it now but there's always next spring.

Did you know there are a few posts on here where the posters claim [and show evidence of sorts] that you can keep deer fly and black fly etc away by wearing a dummy dragonfly on your cap. The realistic dragonfly is on a springy wire about 10" long and bobs about as you walk. Maybe you could give one of those a try? I would certainly like to see your evaluation of them as fly deterrent. Keep up the good work please!

The beavers don't know it, but you're giving each other job security! LOL I used to love playing with the "helicopters" when I was a kid! Cedar and maple are the best smelling ones! Those automatic limber/cutters are pretty cool. They can limb and cut the trees into logs in a big area within a few hours in what used to take loggers days or weeks to do (my dad & grandfather used to log).

along with a crowbar, id say a must have tool for this sort of work is a mattock. A combination of a hoe (I think technically an Adze?), Pickaxe, and Axe, its great for digging out and cutting at the same time, so itll be able to cut through the branches in a dam while scooping out the mud. They can also work as a crowbar for some things as theyre often overbuilt. you also get ones with a fork instead of a blade on one side but I dont think thats the sort you want for this work.

Prices at Walmart are tricky. Often, the bigger size or the multipack is actually more expensive than the smaller sizes, which goes against everything we think. I caught it when shopping for A1 and ketchup. So now I check the price per ounce of everything at Walmart.
