Brother you are way too young to have that much self-control, patience and drive to accept nothing short of perfection. OMG, your flooring nightmare has finally ended! 🎉 Congratulations!!! These videos are great. The 1st best learning is from the mistakes we make. The 2nd best learning is from our successes. The 3rd and 4th are from the failures and successes we observe. Using our own logical thought process is arguably next. Then reading, school, and being told come after that. Through this experience, you learned a lot. By sharing these videos, you let us observe and learn. You are one of my best resources as I start my van build. Thank you!!!! 🙏

'pressure sensitive adhesive' is what you should have used for this. It spreads on wet and when it dries, it works like a strong tape. You lay the floor directly on it and it can be pulled back up just with force or aided with a heat gun.

Seven, amazing stuff man - congratulations on getting it done right in the end - super stoked for you!! I am just about to start building out my 170" which I also bought from Riverside after finding my perfect van there. I found out about them after searching for the right van for four months thanks to your van buying video. Also Selenite Metallic, except I went for the 2wd with all the options instead of 4wd. I just finished driving her back to Florida after driving it cross-country from CA. I am 6'3" so need to do the same level of floor low-profileness as you - so learning all I can. Going to do the 1/2" thinsulate which just arrived. Will be following you closely. Thanks for teaching me as much as you have so far and for all your humour. Love the dedication! Hi, way to persevere lad 👍👍👍. I enjoyed your first build, the level of detail was admirable but you have definitely kicked it up a notch. I appreciate you showing the errors and issues you have run into, too often some channels just show the finished item with no indication of the effort and time it has taken. It also allows those of us watching to learn from your sometimes painful mistakes and hopefully avoid them. It was good to hear you reference Humble Road, another detail oriented builder I have been following 👍. I’m looking forward to the rest of your build, keep up the great work 😁.

WOOOOW!!! What a journey, I hope you enjoy the NEW floor. I'm a little weary of the vinyl because of off gassing in such a small space. I'd for sure be more inclined to do a well sealed wood floor.
@VanLand4 жыл бұрын
I had this same concern. But I learned more about Lonseal and found out that it doesn't off-gass. They have to follow extremely rigorous manufacturing processes because most of their products end up as floor material for commercial airplanes where the air is recirculated so can't cause harm in any way. Lonseal is really in a league of its own. It is completely different than what you would find at Home Depot and the like.
@andrewg89884 жыл бұрын
@@VanLand agree with this. We have used Lonseal in multiple hot yoga studios where off-gassing is a real concern. Lonseal makes outstanding products.

Hi 7 O. I appreciate your tenacity and perfectionism. However, my question is: why not use a thin foam layer over the wood floor same as in residential application on a floating floor for the vinyl underlayment?
@joeblow19422 жыл бұрын
That foam underlayment works great for vinyl and laminate planks because they are designed to float. The sheet vinyl he is using is glued down. Having said that, I definitely would have installed vinyl planks.

Another option which I used was an acrylic vinyl adhesive. It's supposed to be the best option, though I'd prefer the 3M 90 as it would be easier to keep it level and smooth.
@YT-MY2 жыл бұрын
Just came up as I watched other floor installs, yours is the best floor build yet seen. I like the non glued attachment and thinking about noise plus thermal. Not a fan of those that glue flooring down. Did not see if you cut foam stripes to go in floor channels, maybe some air gap is good if water ever gets under the floor. I might use a spline joint or tongue and groove for the middle connection. Do you feel, in the event of a sizeable water leak, that water could flow over the floor edge and out the van drain holes? Did you secure cabinets to the floor or just secured to sidewalls?
@seven_o_savage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Nope I used one sheet of foam under the floor. Yes I’ve had water leak (while installing plumbing system) and it gets out
