As a kid growing up, it was the best time for Transformers. You had live action movies, these games, and the tv shows. Man what a time!

2007-2012 was absolutely the golden age of Transformers. 2013-2018 were the dark ages for sure.

They finally ended tht atrocious RID show, TLK sadly underperformed :( , years later, the dam reboot was announced :/, IDW TF comics became too much (hence their downfall), the official toys became way to simple, that atrocious Netflix TF series. The birth of “Geewunners”. That was the dark ages.

@@EXT0RT98 2013-2018 gave us RiD2015, Rise of the Dark Spark, Age of Extinction, and The Last Knight. Yes 2015s Devastation is a great game, and 2018s Bumblebee was a good movie, and ultimately it did end the dark age, but it was at the very end of 2018, so I'm counting that year as well. Past 2017 is just whatever. The shows seem to be back to good, and Rise of the Beasts was fantastic, but unless Hasbro and Activision bring the old TF games to GamePass, I can't call this a new golden age personally, but not the worst we've sat through. As for comics I can't say anything about as I don't read them.

This was my favorite multiplayer experience… and I’m not big on online multiplayer, but I poured hours into this. The campaign was great… both games, plus devastation, it’s a shame they had to come from Activison.

Yeah this was one of the rare gems when it came to multiplayer for me as well. Was a unstoppable beast in this game when I was young and maxed out all 4 classes with prime. Can't say the same for FoC over the restriction of being unable to grab weapons from dead players since some classes like Titan or Leader class only had 1 or 2 good guns with the rest either being situational or a huge learning curve to get over since it's a wacky gun with it's own gimmick than just firing a bullet. Also that problem of what happens in single player is nerfed in multiplayer with any of the attachments being far more weaker in multiplayer.

28:30 There's been a variety of reasons. In G1 cartoon, it was because there was a lack of Decepticons on Earth, and Megatron needed all the troops he could get. It's also been said that Starscream is also very good at his position of Air Commander and Starscream IS loyal to the Decepticon cause despite not being loyal to Megatron. Many of the fans (myself included) believe that Megatron keeps Starscream around A) to help keep Megatron on his toes and his keep his edge, and B) to remind the other Decepticons what would happen if they tried to overthrow him.

I remember getting hooked into transformers around 2001 when they did reruns of g1 and 2 and bought a few action figures, and i gotta say its pretty cool how transformers after so many eras is still changing with the times, war for cybertron is a great game i remember spending countless hours into multiplayer

Admittedly, I'm more of a late TF fan, as my introduction to the franchise was the Robots in Disguise anime from 2001, rather than the 80's G1 iteration or Beast Wars. Not throwing shade at either series, in fact, BW is a good series overall, but I've always preferred the anime stuff (Armada, Energon, and Cybertron) a bit more, plus I have a soft spot for the Bayformers movies, convoluted and messy as they can be at times.

I got lucky that I was born at the perfect time to enjoy a pretty good chunk of the franchise's lifespan. My first TF was Beast Wars Razorclaw when I was 4, and I still have it on my shelf to this day. Removing myself from nostalgia as much as possible, I think Beast Wars and Animated are the best of the series (hardly an original take). That said, for me personally, Beast Wars, RiD, and Armada are all really sentimental, both the shows and toys. I didn't care much for Energon, but I did watch Cybertron religiously as well.

You are actually entirely correct about your idea of Starscream being neutral, All of the Troops on his station, While bearing autobot symbols are all in a yellow or grey neutral colour-scheme, Not the Red of the Autobots, The general idea thats established is that Starscream was put in command by Cybertrons government... Before Megatron blew that government up, With the Autobots painting themselves red, But keeping the same "Faction" Symbol as the former Government, Which is why all of starscreams bots have all got it. For your own viewing pleasure if thats of interest, Theres actually a set of videos by... I think Barricade24? That goes over the Neutral, Autobot, Decepticon soldier models and a lot of the Neutral-Video is actually a interesting breakdown of the differences between their models and the bot models.

One of the more popular reasons why Mwgatron keeps Starscream around is actually BECAUSE of the constant betrayels. It keeps Megatron's head on a swivel, as he knows that Starscream is likwly plotting some way to take over, so when someone ACTUALLY betrays him, he isnt too caught off guard.

I have to say, that those who are sure of themselves and seek power...are almost always the people you don't want to have it. The best leaders are usually those who don't want power for themselves, and who aren't so full of themselves that they're above turning to others for help and advice. Optimus seeing leadership as a burden is totally on point for him as a character.

God we had good with this duology. The whole being a prequel to Prime TV show not really working comes from that show writers. Hasbro gave them a huge storybible for how this shared univrse was suppose to work, only for the writers to ignore most of it to do their own thing.

I was never able to play the Cybertron games in their prime, but I always wanted to try them out since they looked really fun, and they were realize during a time where the franchise basically took over the world thanks to the first 3 Bayformers films and shows like Animated and Prime.

I love these games. Ditch the humans and give me giant robot high speed action! I bought the first one for the single player but the multi player was so much fun and had me hooked. The movement and classes made it something special.

It's more like Hasbro intended for the games, comics, novels and the prime tv show would be in the same continuity. However, the writers of the show didn't like that idea and just did their own thing that went against Hasbro's plans.

If I remember correctly in this universe, Optimus was actually Megatron's right hand man for a time while he was still called Megatronus and was building himself up to be a contender to become a Prime, however the Primes saw through Megatronus' ploy and refused to grant him the title. When Megatronus got pissed off about it and was ready to start a fight Optimus stood up and attempted to quell the brawl. When the Primes saw this desire for peace and understanding, they could also see Optimus' potential to join their ranks and took him in. This outraged Megatronus who declared Optimus a traitor, changed his name to Megatron, and began the war between the Autobots and his newly formed faction the Decepticons.

You’re generally right. To clarify, Optimus (then know as the data clerk/archivist Orion Pax) and Megatron were once close friends, even seeing each other as brothers. Together, they campaigned and fought for the equality and civil rights for all Transformers, as Cybertron’s society was now governed by a largely complacent High Council and Senate and an incredibly strict and rigid caste system that determined your station and role in society for the rest of your life based on what you transformed into (regardless of your own personal desires and ambitions). After amassing a large following, Orion and Megatron made their case to the council, where they voiced their opinion on how best to affect proper and lasting change for their people and homeworld. While Orion proposed to have a peaceful transition of power, diplomatically replacing the corrupt and ineffective politicians with ones that truly had the best interest of their people and planet at heart, Megatron by contrast argued for the complete dismantlement of the old establishment and the creation of a new one, with him as its head. He claimed that, given his origins as a lower caste miner and later gladiator, that he knew first hand what the iron boot of oppression felt like and thus would know how not to repeat the mistakes of the previous government. After hearing both propositions, the Council opted to side with Orion’s suggestion with some suggesting that he should be made a Prime, this greatly angered and hurt Megatron as he saw this as an act of betrayal on Orion’s part. As a result, he severed all ties with the Council and his former friend, and sought to affect the change he desired for Cybertron and their race by force. Thus began the Great Cybertronian Civil War between the Autobots and the Decepticons.

honestly I grew up with the unicron trilogy, born in 93 but didn't know about transformers till RiD/car robots in 2001, did find a G1 VHS tape but didn't fully like it due to how dated it looked, I do have appreciation towards G1 but I don't hold it in high regards like others do

I wish I bought this on PC before it was taken off Steam. Yet another game I can only play on my old 360. Fall's the similar. No more co-op campaign, but the story is better. Similarly flawed but unique and fun multi-player.
