I just about have to at this point.🤠 I can't imagine a Klaus Kinski cowboy. But, if John Krasinski can play Reed Richards🤦♂, I suppose anything's possible.🤣 Good vid, and thanks for the suggestion!

I always though Micah was based on Ben Fosters portrayal as Charlie Prince in 3:10 to Yuma. Who knew? Top video brother.

Thanks friend. And he’s a mix of many different characters from what I can tell. Just a good portion of him I’ve noticed is inspired by “Loco” and some are inspired by Charlie Prince

I saw The Great Silence on TV as a teen, with no prior knowledge of it, and I was absolutely not prepared. I just sat there in shock as the credits rolled. In fact, the finale is so unbelievably bleak, that the producers made the director, Sergio Corbucci, shoot an alternate happy ending. The sheriff miraculously turns out not to be dead, he bursts in to save Silence and the two of them gun down all the baddies and save the day. It's available as an extra scene on some versions of The Great Silence DVD (ironically without sound). It's absolutely terrible, especially when compared to the sheer brutal impact of the real ending. The Great Silence influence on RDR2 is carried straight through from RDR1, where it inspired the snowy landscapes, many of the costumes and even the inclusion of the Mauser C96 pistol as a weapon, as well as contributing to the generally bleak tone. Rockstar's creative team clearly love Westerns and dug pretty deep for inspiration, especially into the 'Spaghetti western' subgenre, with lots of nods to Corbucci's other films (e.g. the Django series) as well as the more familiar tributes to the work of Sergio Leone.

Dang, I never knew about that Micah Wins cutscene! I’m not supposed to STILL be finding “things you definitely missed in RDR2” 😂 Thank you for finding and showing us the movie references. Before RDR2 I was not into Westerns at all other than enjoying Silverado and Frisco Kid, so now I have another movie to check out whenever I take a break from watching every episode of Gunsmoke 😁

I grew up with gunsmoke. Glad to hear you have a new movie to watch now!
@SPQRKlio19 күн бұрын
@ I binged so much Gunsmoke one week, I started dreaming myself in episodes singing with Festus. 😄 I should try something else, even if it’s another Western. I still love hanging around in RDO, but it’s not exactly giving a story. (And I have to admit, I got all silly sentimental when Law & Order SVU paid homage by showing the closing of the final Gunsmoke episode as the opening of their episode that broke the Gunsmoke record...)

@@RDBTheRedDeathgod I love the early black and white gunsmoke. All these moral grey characters rarely is someone completely bad. I want to watch it again but it’ll remind me of my dad and he just passed.

Silence is kind of the cult favorite among hardcore spaghetti western fans. Leone is king, but Silence is a discovery on par with your first time seeing Good the Bad and the Ugly. It's basically the reason snow westerns are a genre, but i didn't notice RDR2 borrowed so directly from it beyond just the cold setting.

Micah Bell can be referenced to anyone, Charlie Prince Tigrero, but he only has clothing, and references to them. His personality is completely different, he's more outword and brasher, lots of wild west fiction characters dual wield Wanna know who else dresses similar to Charlie Prince? Lyle Gorch from Wild Bunch, but completely different characters, but I'm not going to say he's based on him too. Arthur isn't based on Doc Holliday, lots of people died from the same disease.

you are some what close but John has more in common with Ben Hall rather than The Great Silence. Even the way John dies is similar to Ben Hall, both were forced to surrender and both were killed in front of family or a very close friend. I recommend The Legend of Ben Hall if you haven't seen it

The Great Silence has several endings, the generally accepted as canon "bad ending", and the originally planned "good ending", neither is perfect, and it kind of depends on what mood of Western you prefer. There's also a "neutral ending", but that one sucks.

@HM2SGT18 күн бұрын
Did RDR borrow elements from the long riders (bank robbery gone badly wrong), the silence (Micah), 3:10 to Yuma etc? Or has the Western genre been plumbed so thoroughly that it's impossible to do anything without repeating some aspect? Is it mined out, therefore making everything derivative? 🤔🤷
