Your hair is so thick, pretty & healthy looking!! I use this product (thanks to YT) not for styling/definition but for the moisture retention. That's true about what she said...The hair growth was wild; but tons of people walking around with plastic caps on their heads all day outside and sleeping in them overnight for hours and not washing their hair often so that was not healthy. That era was crazy but the hair was soft didn't tangle so I guess that's what made it grow but it wasn't clean. Think of that scene and coming to America when those jheri curl people were sitting on that couch and left grease spots on the wall dripping. Lol!

All that is true concerning jheri curls and activator back in the 80's. The greasy couches, clothes and plastic caps all of it. Wasn't a movie for me though, I wore a curl. Haha and the non tangling and softness was not only because of the curl activator aka jheri curl juice, a jheri curl was a perm. The same chemicals for a relaxer was used, lye; except that the hair was rolled while the lye was on. The curl activator was required because if the hair was not in a constant state of of being moisturized, it would get extremely dry and break off, I mean severe damage with the quickness. Many people who wore curls, when they would grow tired of it would start wearing a press n curls and it would look so good at first but then eventually would break off if you didn't keep up the press n curl or apply the activator. Just like with any relaxer where one can't go too long without getting a touch up or press n curl, the new growth fights the permed hair and there is breakage. The perm had to grow out for the hair to recover or you had to go back to that greasy curl activator. I tried this curl activator on my natural hair yesterday and I was back in the 80's all over again. All that sticky glycerin it's not for me.
@melissa1124 жыл бұрын

Back in the 80’s and early 90’s The Jheri curl juice was used with a process to loosen the natural curl in our hair. This process, including putting the hair on perm rods, took anywhere from 2-3 hours to completion. It was not used on natural hair. If you search KZbin for Jheri curls, I’m sure you will find someone getting a Jheri curl and you will understand the process. The Jheri curl juice is not going to harm natural hair but it wasn’t made for it. 😊
