Does flamethrower do more damage against gligar than stone edge?

Stone Edge does 44 against normal Gligar, while FT does 33

Against Sandslash I always swap to wiggly when I get to 1 shields each and the Sandslash is half health, but is it really better to switch to wiggly right away?

what does xl mean? And does it improve the stats?

XL is for something that requires XL Candy to reach the PvP CP Threshold (this case, 1500). Pokémon that are from level 40-50 need XL Candy of their form to level up as well as stardust. Typically, Pokémon that have a lower attack IV can reach a higher level (which makes them bulkier) and in this case, this Bastiodon needs to be above level 40 to reach the CP it has with it's current IV spread.
