you see all those old people around? They all grew up sitting in the front bench seat of the family car between their parents... and they're old, meaning they're alive. Safety was important; we just considered it more important A) to be competent drivers and not have accidents B) to not rely on the technology rather than... competence, and C) to build cars that didn't turn into a squished trash can at the first sign of a collision.
@sandpiperr
@sandpiperr 3 жыл бұрын
@@fs127 Ha! Tell that to my best friend's mom who, in the early 90s, used to drive us around on the highway, in the front seat of her station wagon, with no seatbelts! Oh, and did I mention she was a cop? Of all the people who should have known better... There's a reason seatbelts are mandated by law now and it's not just to collect ticket money. It's because so few people make the right choice on their own, and those who don't have the agency to make their own choices (like me and my best friend were at 6 years old!) can get hurt. And if you're about to say 'well you're alive so I guess it wasn't that bad'...fuck off. I'm alive because I was lucky. Are you really saying it's okay to put whether a 6 year old lives or dies in the hands of luck? If so, fuck off again.

In Poland, Home Alone is a huge part of their Christmas popular culture. It's shown repeatedly during the season. In 2010, Home Alone was not aired and it caused an uproar and protests until the network relented and aired it.

The second one was not only good as well, it's kind of a self aware satire. The third one just tosses all of the emotional depth, and focussed on the slapstick, and the movies have been downhill ever since.

Darwinism at its finest. Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate the equally dumb parents who apparently took to drinking laundry detergent so they’d have ‘something to talk to their kids about’. Like, really? Bad enough your brainless brat kids eat the stupid pods full of chemicals for a worthless meme (I hate memes like that anyway)-even dumber for grown adults to deliberately drink chemicals just because they think they have nothing else to chat about. Fucking hell. The fact that this is even a thing we have reason to discuss is deeply embarrassing. Humans truly have a limitless capacity for stupidity. I shall now cite my favorite Einstein quote: “Only two things are infinite-the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not so sure about the universe.” -Albert Einstein

You should watch Ready or Not! (don't look up anything about it because you will get spoiled) but it's basically a thriller where a girl is babysitting a kid and his friend when weird things start happening and it turns into a night of survival, and it's Christmas themed and I think you'd love it!

Everyone loves the conversation in the church, but I have to say I've always loved the scene with the smoking Santa too. He's such a good Santa, given it#s after hours and how little he's presumably being paid.
