So its not explained well, but the plannet they are on is not Earth. It's an "Exoplanet" called Copper 9, with an extremely thin atmosphere, not ideal for life. Basically its a small planet that is a huge copper mine. The worker drones were used as expendable miners in those mines.

Honestly figured they weren't on earth when "Life was wiped from the Planet" the worker drones was on, The Murder drones were sent from "Space" to slay the Workers (Implying they were from somewhere else & When Uzi hoped humanity "was sitting Pretty on Earth". Especially when uzi said the last line because it doesn't make sense to say that if she were on earth.

This show handles gore and eldritchian horrors fabulously. The murder drones have a lot of angelic/vampire imagery to them. And because of the fact that they require other drone's oil to avoid overheating is actually the reason they're susceptible to sunlight

Nooo, I don't buy that explanation. I mean, I deepdived everything for a fic I'm writing, and the sunlight vulnerability has yet to be even remotely explained. Ingesting oil just acts like coolant, wicking waste heat off their internals to prevent board meltdown. Doesn't suggest anything linked to photonic radiation.

@@sasha1mama Just because it wasn't explained explicitly doesn't mean it wasn't implied. Indie animation only has so many frames to convey it's story so there's no time to explain every aspect of the lore in intricate detail. The reason I believe the sun overheats the murder drones is mostly because of episode 4 Cabin Fever. Where a certain character reacts a certain way towards sunlight, but only by the end of the episode. Same with the latest episode where in a flashback, a certain character was targeted with intense beams of light to subdue it. If you know you know, but I'm keeping this spoiler free. And if I'm wrong (which I'm willing to accept, I'm not that smart lol) then I'm not sure what other explanation there could be for the sun being harmful to the murder drones if it isn't because it overheats them. I think it'd make sense considering worker drones aren't performing as many tasks that are demanding of their hardware and therefore can bask in the sunlight. Unlike the murder drones who regularly shapeshift and fly and such which is bound to be more demanding of their hardware and thus requires oil in order to remain operational. And let's face it, we the audience aren't really meant to think too hard about the logistics behind these drones

I recommend you either pay VERY close attention when watching, maybe even rewatching and pausing throughout, or watch analysis videos of each episode because there are a TON of important details in both the foreground and background that are very easy to miss and are essential to the plot.

I've been obsessed with Murder Drones and thinking about it pretty much every day since I started watching it at the beginning of November 2023. It had been on my watchlist for a while, and omg, I don't know why I had been sleeping on Murder Drones for so long because I love it so much. Episode 7 just came out on March 29th, and it was so good. I love the characters, the lore, the mystery, the dark story, the action, the comedy, the strong horror vibes, the character designs, the environments, the sound designs, and the score of the show so much. Best show on KZbin, in my opinion. I also love how much the animation improves each episode. I really hope that you'll continue watching the rest of the series.

You probably made connection at some point in development, but the murder drones have a lot of ties to vampires. Also a ton of lore stuff is in blink or more accurately pause or you'll miss it moments, tiny background info, mostly text in the environment or on screens.

What I really like about the first episode of Murder Drones is how we were introduced to them. The dissasembly drones, or the murder drones, are very maniacal killers with vampiristic traits. I love their character designs with the giant blade wings, multiple differet weapons, acid tails, and sinister smiles. When I saw the first episode for the first time, I thought of them as like vampire, robot, angels of death. I like the fact that their not mindless. Uzi was shocked when N spoke, saying, "Holy crap, it talks." What I find the most interesting about them is that they drink the oil from worker drones when they kill them so that they can survive because they have an overheating issue. N is the lesser evil of the 3 dissasembly drones, but he seems to enjoy that part of his job the most.

except...he explicitly doesn't. In fact he and his men are too scared of the drones to actually DO anything to protect anyone, rather jsut relying on the doors. the point is Uzi's dad IS a coward (due to the trauma of having to mercy kill his own wife) and ISN'T focused on protecting anyone.

ok to clear some stuff up without spoiling anything, kahn running could be becuse he probably has some form of PTSD which isnt confirmed or anything just a thought. The headbands on the MDs arnt just stylish its also their "real" eyes, helps them see in diffrent lights. the hair and clothes are all from dead humans on the planet as someone else mentiond. indeed the planet they are on is not earth, its a exo planet called Copper 9. The bots have a kinda meh raction to other bots deaths, think its programing, you can see a bit of that in the intro bit. The thing about the sun is that since they overheat so much, the sun would cause them to overheat way too fast, think of them like vampires. and yes please do watch allll of this its so bloody good, I adore the soundtrack to it.
