Unapologetically, I've been to a panel at an anime convention for the Host Club. The twins are my favorite! Couldn't tell you why but they're so mischievous and hilarious, so there's that. Even got pictures of the people dressed in the cosplay!

The twins thing is that the girls who go to the host club like this type of incest dynamic, so they act like that for the girls, but they're otherwise just kinda codependent, and even that gets better after Haruhi joins the club.

Matthew please I need you to understand this entire series is satire 😭😭😭 I love tf outta this series, and I always get so sad when people take it at face value. These tropes are cranked to the max for a reason, and we can 100% discuss why what was said and done when it came out was problematic, but I still desperately love this mess bc it does make fun of all the shojo and fujoshi tropes while keeping some serious moments in for humanization and understanding of their behaviors! These characters are insane and weird, and Haruhi's the straight, poor man to their stupid, rich asses, and something about her being the most normal out of them all is just. Charming to me. She doesn't care what pronouns you use for her. She's smart, and she learns that, even though they're all rich and spoiled, they do have familial issues of their own and their own traumas and uses those experiences to better approach the situations she ends up in with them. Again, it may be all rich people problems, but their friendships are all important and help them all grow into better people. (Most of the time at least.)

Wicked is how Idina Menzel (Elphaba/Wicked Witch) and Kristin Chenowith (Galinda/Glinda the Good Witch) became part of the common cultural zeitgeist. I'm pretty sure they were already fairly big names in the theatre scene, but Wicked blew up in the same way Hamilton blew up. Interestingly, Wicked and Hamilton start the show telling us how they end. "The Wizard And I" is the I-Want song, sung by Elphaba (Elf-uh-buh) when she is a college student, and is a song with a whole lot of dramatic irony because she is the Wicked Witch. "No Good Deed" takes place after Elphaba's boyfriend gets captured and is being taken to be executed. It is also one of her lowest points in the show and so her magic is starting to falter as she tries to cast a spell to save him. "Popular" takes place right as a real friendship starts to develop between Galinda and Elphaba. This is one of the songs in the show that illustrates the theme of the show (fight me in the comments if you disagree). My personal favorite song of the show is similar to this one, "Wonderful" in Act 2 is also a "theme" song. I would not say Wonderful is the best song, but it is my favorite. "Defying Gravity" is the climax of Act 1 of the show, big show-stopping number. It is a spectacular song coupled with incredible staging, and is both inspiring and heart wrenching in context. You really need to listen to the whole musical through, because you get a lot of context and there are so many spectacular songs. Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith are absolutely STELLAR performers and have unparalleled singing voices.

Now you should watch the show! It is quite a wild ride xD

Context for "daddy": Haruhi (the short hair "boy") is actually a girl. Tamaki (the blonde) is not her actual father (though he calls Kyouya - the one in glasses - "mommy" cuz based on club positions). But made himself a "father figure" cuz everyone is protecting her gender identity...but he's also jealous another girl had a crush on Haruhi cuz he likes her too (but he's super dramatic). And one of the twins likes her too. Just watch the show lol
