Arriving at her new college, Beca (Anna Kendrick) finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together. When Beca leads this a cappella singing group out of their traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of college music competitions.

Kendrick and Wilson have the right kind of sass to entertain; they may not be as glamorous as the kids in Glee, but in Pitch Perfect, they seem like the girls who are having all the fun.

John Michael Higgins, who plays the male judge, appears in both The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra! In Korra he plays Varrick, and in The Last Airbender he was the leader of the secret tunnel group. He always plays some kind of agent of chaos. 😄 Also, I think they had two reasons for choosing Lilly for the Bellas despite the fact that they couldn't really hear her. The first is that they were desperate for members, and the second is that even though she whispers when she talks and sings, she's actually very loud and VERY good at beat boxing.

The reason they lost the riff-off is because you have to match the exact word. She cut off at “It” and her lyric was “It’s” so it wasn’t the exact lyric so they lost.

I mostly go to female doctors. I have one great male doctor, but I have had a greater rate of success with female doctors listening and being more open to continuing to investigate what's wrong instead of writing it off and telling me it's just gonna be like that forever. Super grateful to all my wonderful doctors keeping me functional and maintaining highest quality of life, lol. So I'm glad there's increasing numbers. Thank you for joining the ranks, it's a tough job.

nodes are vocal damage from overuse. Mariah Carey has had nodes her entire career which is why her voice is getting harder to control. They can go away with rest but they can get to a point where they have to be removed for the vocal cords to work properly at all

Speaking of female doctors…I know phds aren’t “medical” doctors lol but I think at least half of my genetics program, if not more, are woman now. The year I came in with though was male-dominated and that…really sucked for me. But I love that a lot of women are getting biology PhDs nowadays, at least!

21:16 though in a general sense I don't think it'd be ultimately serious, it's fixable, but as someone who sings competitively, that's why it's made out to be a big deal cause you could lose those ranges you had before after surgical treatment. That's just what I think of in the logical sense of it though😅 29:50 apart from aubrey being a control freak, it was a cool idea to think that they redid the song they muffed up last year and succeeded decently well to start off the competition😂

I love this movie. I watch it pretty often because I like the characters, the comedy, and the music. It didn't feel to me that they took the time to make the sequels with as much care and effort. It was still fun to see the characters again, though.

As sexist as some of John's comments and jokes were, he had a point about women groups and low notes. I used to watch the Sing Off (a capella singing contest tv show), that's where the Pentatonix got their start, when it was on back in the day and there were very few all female groups. The few that did compete never made it to the finals.

Vocal nodes usually go away with rest, but they are essentially non cancerous nodules that can change the tone of your voice. Singing with nodes can lead to damage, but there is also a major risk of damaging your voice by undergoing surgery as well. I had thyroid surgery and scarred my vocal chords during recovery, and I can no longer sing - at least not like I used to. I can't talk for prolonged periods either or my voice starts to go out, this is less of an issue since I am rather an introvert. :P
