The Director said that the reveal that Miles is the first anomaly is a meta-commentary on what led to the creation of the first Black Spider-Man. Some fans believe that Miles doesn't deserve his power or belong in the mask.

A few Fun Facts the entire lego scene in this movie was animated by a 14 year old. He got the directors attention when he reanimated the entire Spiderverse trailer in lego and posted it here on KZbin. Also Miles saying that he felt the new Spiderman was more Dominican is a reference to the fact that Earth 42 Miles is voiced by a Dominican VA. I didn't even realize that Miles 42 had a different VA until I learned that fact

Just to keep in mind, the OG Spiderman (Earth 616, from the comics) loses his Uncle Ben first, becoming Spiderman, then his then girlfriend Gwen Stacy's dad (Captain Stacy) gets killed, his last words telling him to keep her safe. Then Gwen Stacy gets killed by the Green Goblin (similar to how it happened in the Andrew Gardfield films). After that he meets back with MJ, and they get together. That's pretty much the best known canon events for Spiderman (there's a few more, like the Symbiote/Venom, but these are the most formative for his career as Spiderman). And, in the comics, Spider-Woman Gwen Stacy and Spider-Man Miles Morales get together as a couple for a while after the comic's Spiderverse story line

I rewatched this & couldn't help but notice that Miguel was perving on Miles & the gang as they were on their way to see him. But as they got closer Miguel changed the screen to pictures of him & his daughter. It's like he was preparing to emote when Miles got there.

37:24 Fun fact this is the Spider-Man of the Spectacular Spider-Man (2008 to 2009) Animated Series. He's even voiced by Josh Keaton as well and the Art Direction is pulled right out of the show. The creator of the show did have one explant though that being him disagreeing with Spectacular Spider-Man being okay with allowing Miles Father to die. In the eyes of the creator he simply couldn't see his Spider-Man agreeing with Miguel.

Before he was The Spot, he was not just a scientist quietly doing research at MIT. He was a mad scientist working for a criminal organization...sooo? Also, at the time Miles hit him with a bagel, he was chasing Miles down with some type of bazooka, attempting to kill him... soooo? He happened to also have a wife and kid. He may have even coached little-league, but I think the mad-scientist thing best defines who he is/was.

In the first film when Miles meets his universe's Spiderman both of their spidersense kick in Peter's is blue and red while Miles' is purple and green then changes to match Peter's blue and red. The filmmakers said that was a visual reference that if Miles didn't meet Peter he would have followed his Uncle into a life of crime. Also when Miles goes to find the spider that bit during the first film remember it glitches. Another foreshadowing.

“Who was going to be Spider-Man in Miles’ place?”. If you’re talking about in Miles’ actual universe, it was still going to be Peter. Peter was going to survive the battle he was in but because Miles got bit and was interfering with the battle, Peter died which wasn’t supposed to happen. Miles was actually supposed to become THE PROWLER of his universe. The Miles in the OTHER dimension was supposed to become Spider-Man. You can even see this earlier in the film where it shows you where the spider came from and you can see the alternate Miles Morales near it about to get bitten before it got teleported away. However, since it was placed into the MAIN Miles’ dimension, HE was bitten and became Spider-man. He was never supposed to be Spider-Man of his universe which is actually hinted at in the first film when Peter meets Miles for the first time and their spider senses go off. You can see the Prowler color scheme on Miles that then turns into the color scheme of Spider-Man signifying how his history changed from becoming The Prowler to now being Spider-Man So long story short because of this, the Miles who was supposed to be the Prowler became Spider-Man while the Miles who was supposed to be Spider-Man became the Prowler. Thus, things are out of wack and need to be fixed.

Comparing Miguel and Wanda makes me think that Miguel, as a scientist partnered with the spot, found his duplicate self and murdered his other self in order to have this other life. He blames it all on Miles Morales the same way the spot blames everything on Miles, even though they are at fault all on their own.

Donald Glover also has a really close connection to Miles. I think he once wrote a treatment for a Mile Morales story where he wanted to portray him. Keeping secrets by your love interest and letting your own father to die for the sake of canon events is the worst kind of betrayal a protagonist like Miles Morales would ever experience. Hope Gwen can learn her mistakes in the upcoming Byeond the Spiderverse but she first needs to earn his trust first. He would distance himself from her and Peter B after what has happened.

If you don't get that, then you don't get the first thing about being Spider-Man.” The Spider-Man from the Edge of Time would have sided with Miguel because his theories about canon events are inaccurate and letting someone to die is not only a red flag. But that is very irresponsible of using your powers. Having tragic moments doesn’t shaped you to becoming Spider-Man. The mask you wear is all about given people hope. And with great power, comes great responsibility. Miles understands this than Miguel.

6:00 Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) does exist in the Mainline Marvel Universe of Earth-616 alongside Peter Parker Spider-Man. Think of it like the Bat family where we have Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Batwoman etc. But the Jessica Drew we see in this film is from Earth-404 and visually looks pretty differant to her comic counterpart. Here she's depicted as a black woman with an afro and a unique outfit themed around a motorbike rider but the colours match that of Spider-Woman. I imagine the universe of Spider-Verse Jessica Drew has a Peter Parker as well who I imagine is also Spider-Man alongside Spider-Woman, only assuming though. Miguel universe of Earth-928 also has Peter Parker as Spider-Man. Miguel Universe for the most part can be seen as a "possible future" of Earth-616 the Mainline Universe so alot of the events and characters are pretty similar to there mainline counterparts. It wasn't until a Mutant vs Human conflict broke up during the 21st Century that the universe branched into it's own timeline. From my understanding Peter Parker Spider-Man died during this event along with other hero's as well. Then in 2099 we get Miguel taking up the mantle of Spider-Man giving birth to a new age of hero's with many of them being themed after classic iconic hero's from the Age of Hero's. Many of Miguel's versions are also themed around classic Spider-Man villains as well. 28:35 Hobie Brown also exists in Marvels Mainline Universe (Earth-616) and is actually the original Prowler introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #78 (November 1969). Decades later Marvel created a new modernized and re-imagined continuity called the Ultimate Universe, also known as Earth-1610 starting with Ultimate Spider-Man in the year 2000. They introduced the character of Aaron Davis along with Miles and his family. In this continuity Aaron Davis is the one and only Prowler but Hobie Brown is mentioned on a list as a cat burglar so he does exist here just not as the Prowler. Miles universe in the Spider-Verse films are based on the Ultimate Universe. Spider-Punk, Hobie Brown of Earth-138 on the other hand was a homeless teenage who was bitten by a spider that was irradiated as part of President Norman Osborn's toxic waste dumping. He takes up the title of Spider-Punk and fights against President Osborn alongside other hero's and the public. In the comics he's not British though and is based in New York but I do like the whole British theme, works well with the Punk setting. He's also a pretty new character introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #10 (2015) but of course Hobie as a character dates back to 1969. I also recall watching the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon from like 2008/2009 and I remember Hobie being mentioned in the classroom setting by one of Peters fellow students. 32:13 Ben Reilly also exists on Earth-616 introduced during the 1970s Clone Saga as an unnamed Clone of Peter Parker, Alongside a Clone of Gwen Stacy who in a few issues past was killed by Green Goblin. The Peter Clone was assumed to have died when the lab went up in flames but during the 1990s he was brought taking Uncle Ben's first name and Aunt May's maiden name and becoming Ben Reilly. He also dyed his hair blonde to differ himself from Peter and took up the role as The Scarlet Spider working beside Peter a good amount of times. The Ben Reilly from this film though is from Earth-94 a fun nod to his first appearance in 1994 as The Scarlet Spider, also states that his world also has a Peter which makes sense. This take on Ben is more of a satire on 1990s edginess showcasing a more over the top edgy version of his character.

From Miguel’s perspective, Miles traveling the multiverse means he would break other Spiderpeople’s canons as well. Believing Miles to be an anomaly means certain events may not have to happen to him so Miguel was going to make sure his dad died.

Renaissance Vulture is supposed to be in a certain universe and if he goes to another he changes things. So it’s about keeping everyone where they are supposed to be from Miguel’s perspective. Miles is already changing things in his universe at least according to Miguel. Spot and the collider weren’t supposed to happen.

I guess the only problem I have with the story line is Miles basically saved Gwen and the fours lives by operating the collider and THEN fighting kingpin solo and none of them had the moral conviction to explain to him what was going on and basically turned their backs on him. That’s not how Spider-Man operates.

It's kinda disgusting what they did with this movie. In the first one, to try to make "the black Spider-Man" the most important one, they had two Peter Parker: one died and the other one was a joke, a deadbeat, a caricature of a man. Ok. At that point, racist people started arguing that Miles was *THE* Spider-Man, but that argument quickly fell because whatever happened in the first movie wasn't enough to delete 65 years of comic books. So the racists went for the next best thing, spreading the idea that Miles Morales was the very first alternative to Peter Parker... which comic book fans obviously knew wasn't true and they corrected the racists. Ben Reilly, the Scarlet Spider, was the first one. It was with him and the clone saga that the concept was introduced, and he even took Peter's place for a while. So the racists said that we all misunderstood and that Miles Morales is the first *_alternate universe_* Spider-Man. Of course, real fans knew that that wasn't real, either. Miguel O'Hara, Spider-Man 2099, was the first, and he was a big deal, even having a comic book crossover with Peter Parker. The 2099 universe was, in fact, the first time Marvel gave so much relevance to an alternate universe, with its own comic books (Spider-Man 2099, X-Men 2099, and so on...). This was before Age of Apocalypse, before House of M and looooong before the Ultimate universe, where Miles Morales was created. So naturally... to impose "the black Spider-Man" as the most important one (because remember: racially motivated decisions are ok depending on who you're defending and who you're attacking), the racists completed their work by making Miguel O'Hara a villain and Ben Reilly another pathetic caricature of a man. Because *FUCK COMIC BOOK FANS, WE HAVE A RACIAL SUPREMACY AGENDA TO IMPOSE ON EVERYBODY.* Disgusting. 🤮

Peter B is a deadbeat? He's right there, raising his daughter. Bloody brilliantly if I say so myself. He's hiding none of his life and everything it brings from Mayday. Pathetic? Bro was depressed like every Peter gets at various points. Peter B Parker is the bloody embodiment of "Spider-Man always gets back up" Far superior to the "I have a Batcave" Peter Parker who while being Peter in many ways, was lost in the sauce. Just like you are. You see yourself as this big authority on comic books and superheroes but you're missing out on the very core of why these characters are loved globally and not just the race, religion and locality they represent. If a kid can't connect to Miles because he's not looking like them, that kid isn't raised in a good environment. My brown ass that has never set foot in America had no issue connecting with and appreciating Peter Parker for two whole decades and a few years in loose change.
