Btw the studio confirmed that it won’t just end with the movie, and more Haikyuu will actually be animated! Very Solid Video Essay, keep it up my man.

i agree with everything but the positivity of the match, i loved it so much because they are freinds first then rivals the moment when daichi hugs kuroo after the match i cried. in terms of length of the match i implore you have to read the manga its so much better, the pacing is perfect every character has his moment and overall a better match but the animation is crazy in the movie

Of course the manga is going to better, but my illiteracy has not allowed me to read yet :(

fr. playing against your friends in a match is like more competitive but has more positivity in it. Its normal for complimenting your friends in a match, they usually take it as a taunt so they get fired up more in the match.

I agree that it left me wanting more. I saw it in the cinema and left kinda disappointed, but the more I’ve watched it, the more I realise that for what it is and for what it was given, they did an amazing job. Haikyuu ranks as my 3rd favourite anime of all time and I wish it could get another 10 seasons rather than 2 movies. I’m not ready to say goodbye to it

I actually liked that there wasn’t a lot of internal monologues and it was more of just watching a Vball match. Both teams know each other, we know both the teams. There wasn’t much to learn this match about either team. It’s just a match we’ve been waiting for, I enjoyed just watching the Vball and the little battles and conversations on the court. It felt as real as a match irl gets. Especially with how fast everything was. Idk people are disliking it but I think it was a good change of pace from the show that made sense

If you want more, you could read the manga for this match, the movie skipped a lot of scenes and character interactions

As someone who plays volleyball against friends a lot, even when we're all playing seriously joking around between rallies is pretty common if you're close enough, for a lot of people i know, the more they enjoy playing volleyball the better they do, assuming they start out with a little skill

What a great video, u are rly underrated. Ik someone said it already but man you rly should try to read the manga. While I loved the movie it just left me feeling... unfulfilled. The manga is acc peak.

With this being a movie there was a bunch of content from Noya Tanaka especially Asahi and Kageyama lost their shine in this match even more moments from other players on Nekoma missed out as well I would’ve named a few but I’ll leave it as is in case you ever read the manga or if a tv release expands on the match hopefully

i loved the movie, especially the animation being so good, which im not so sure we would have gotten if there was another season, but there was a pretty big amount of cut content that i wish we could see animated. overall i felt like it was a 10/10 movie but 6/10 adaptation.

You can read the manga of this match so you can see more, also a season would have been best especially for this match because nekoma is very stall, defensive team, which is supposed to last long, and it sucks that you probably wont see the time skip and what happened

Honestly this match in the manga is the closest to being the best in the whole series. The movie is great but it’s a different experience reading it. It was like the most intense and wholesome match in the whole series. The match actually gives every character on both teams their focus . Asahi is the mvp of the match from Karasuno’s side and Yaku on Nekoma’s but because of the amount of cut scenes it doesn’t emphasize it. The nuances are cut so the movie ends up being a shallow version of the actual match. The next match is the best one imo but I have low expectations as the best parts of it are literally its nuances.

As a volleyball player and coach, i felt like this movie felt more like a volleyball game with how fast everything was. But I did wish it was more gameplay than story, a real best out of 3 game irl would Normally be an 1 hour-1hour 15mina if it goes to a 3rd set.

But I will say I wish it was more gameplay than back story

I feel all your problems with the movie would be solved if you read the manga, the full match is beyond anything done before I really love the movie, I do, it's amazing and beautiful but I hate how much they cut. In most matches we get to know something from at least two or three players from other teams and the rest get their moment, but in this match we already knew every single member so we got something from everyone, every single character from both teams, even Nekoma's bench players (they did much more than in the movie). Everyone had their own moment or more than one that weren't in, Tanaka, Daichi, Kageyama, Yamamoto, Yaku! anyone from either team, Inokua had a way larger part, in the movie I don't really see the impact he had. Hell, even Kenma had more amazing moments and Hinata was way smarter and did a lot of tactics, he didn't just rely on Kageyama's set and the BOOM jump, beccause that wasn't enough to stop Nekoma, they adapted to it very quickly. I feel they rushed to much the first set. We rarely get to see a full set of Karasuno losing, especially animated, they usually rush through them (like the 3 set in shiratorizawa that was longer in the manga while in anime they almost didn't show a single point) Even though I knew Nekoma was going to win that set, I felt Karasuno was scoring more, until they showed the score board and apparently Nekoma was in the lead, I didn't feel that by the way it was presented. Karasuno also celebrated waaay more winning the second set, and with reason, it was the first time they took a single set from them!! It was to the point that people passing by thought they were celebrating winning the match, not just the set. Also, yes, the animation and direction was amazing but every time they did an amazing rally my first thought wasn't about the quality, it was "Wait! we are already at that rally!? but what about x,y and z rally? they were important" they rushed through the sets in a match against a defense specialist, where the rallys were made to feel looooong and eternal on pourpose What also hurt me was the subtle yet significant change in Kuroo's backstory, in the manga it was all about him actually being super shy, even more than Kenma, the complete opposite to movie Kenma's "he was always like that", I was like "NoO!? What do you mean he was always like that? he wasn't", the way it was presented in the manga made me cry, probably because I relate quite a lot, I don't know it hit different. And don't get me started on the libero moments that were cut!! They usually don't get as much attention, and they cut the most coolest moments from both of them! In a match with a defense specialist team!?? There were also scenes such as Tsukki telling Kuroo "thanks to everyone it's fun" that were just a tad longer but that made it more impactful and emotional to me. And also Daichi and Kuroo had a speech that ended with "that's why we hate those guys" showing both teams smiling at each other... It just... there were many moments like those that were soooo emotional to me And Kenma!! I liked the first person pov, I really do, it's amazingly done, I wouldn't change that for the world, but the faces Kenma was making, especially at Lev, they were priceless!! The "idoit! The ball hasn't fallen yet!" and "It hurts..., I'm tired...I don't want it to end" they had more focuse since we could see Kenma's desperation (and weren't just amazed and focused with the animation), and it was incredible I know it was impossible from the get go to have every single scene, unless it was like 3 hs long, I'm aware, and I know they did better, way better than expected, I'm just a bit sad that some will never read the match at it's full potential, also, I'm scared since they did that with the most anticipated match, I don't know how they'll handle what's left. Besides, the reason I find the ending perfect, personally, is because they take every single detail and give it a satisfying resolution, if they cut those moments then the ending looses it's impact
@toekneetalks7153Ай бұрын
I've just never been a manga reader unfortunately. If I were to read one, Haikyuu would be the first. I'm sure all of my qualms are resolved in that, but it's just a little unfortunate to see some of the "rushed" scenes through such an important match.
@tesshh1Ай бұрын
@toekneetalks7153 oh, believe me, I completely understand the disappointment, and I fear it's going to get worse. There is just too much to cover, and only one movie announced. I completely understand not being a manga reader. In most cases, I'm the same, but haikyuu is honestly worth it. The amount of detail and payoff it has is amazing, and I highly recommend it. If you do start but don't want to read what was already adapted, don't worry, the first two seasons are almost panel to panel the same, and what was cut from the other two adds to the story but it's nothing major, you may end up liking and understanding characters like Semi or Shirabu and the Shiratorizawa dynamic more though. What are completely different are the Tokyo preliminary matches that are the land vs air ovas, if you are interested in going farther with those characters, which helps for future matches. I also would suggest reading an arc you already know so you get used to how action is drawn, especially if you don't usually read manga. Sorry I tend to get excited when someone is thinking of picking it up. Warning, the characters are a bit more unhinged and goofy in the manga, especially Daichi and Suga, they aren't as maturely perfect as in the anime, I'd say they actually captured Suga's personality much better in the movie

I don't agree with the "all Karasuno is the protagonist", haikyuu excells at character developing in general so everyone has the spotlight, but clearly Hinata is the main character
@gabrielvidal511Ай бұрын
Like you don't have to be the best character or the one who carries the team to be the main character, but when the narrative has the focus on him the longest, it becomes obvious
