Love Orwell, I might be dating my age here but,,,,,,,,, my first new truck was a 1971 Pete cabover with a 270 cat, twin stick 5 and a 4. It's name was "Wind Walker" cus it could run 75 top end pulling a load! Had a Williams exhaust brake (Jake breaks weren't invented yet) put 6 million miles on that old girl! Decided she needed new paint (metallic blue with clouds airbrushed on the sleeper), first trip out, it got stolen at the 76 truck stop in St. Cloud, Minnesota on I-94 while I was inside eating. They took my truck, trailer and full load of 2X4's. It was parted out, parts were located all over the East coast. I really miss that old truck! I'm retired now, bed ridden and waiting to pass. Orwell let's me close my eyes and run down the big rode again in my memories

That's a sweet ride with a super turning radius, small sleeper, and pulls like a beast. You really should get it. I drove a conventional mack with real wooden cabinets and shelves all around the upper part of the sleeper. Turned on a dime and wish I had bought it and leased back to the company till I owned it. I miss that truck a lot. My 2nd choice of all I've driven is the Volvo with the hi rise sleeper. It had a great turning radius for its length. But then anything turns better than a KW, Peterbilt, or Freightliner, and Western Star. I'm sorry. Just giving my opinion on those I've driven in my 28 driving (OTR) years so far.

Yeah went from a 2000 Peterbuilt 379 to a Volvo. Talk about a hell of a difference in turning radius. I was bobtailing when I first picked it up and started to turn like I did my Pete and about did a u turn in the middle of the intersection.

I stopped by the chapel in Frystown, PA for years and only the trailer has been there for the last twenty years. Still active. Transport for Christ Still has a great following ( Congregation?) It's good that many are open 24/7. That's a beautiful COE Mack. Of course my first large car was a COE Transtar 2. So, I'm partial to sitting up high. God bless and safe travels!

Steve that Mack would be a nice score for FSC trucking. Too bad it's not the E9-500 V8! Those trucks ran well and rode pretty well and the E9 models were grossly underrated in their horsepower advertisement. They needed to get around the EPA so they underrated their HP specs. They had an air ride system on the cab similar to the Ford you picked up from them. That old bulldog would definitely make for some good content on the channel of you giving it the TLC it needs to be road-ready again.

Yeah I remember when national freight out of Vineland New Jersey in early 90s I don't know where they base themselves out of now, they had a whole pile of those. I drove one in my early trucking career for a while with STL sharky truck line on the Quincy Illinois old Jack had a bunch of those particular Macks too

@@John-kr7iz I have been driving for over 33 years and never driven a MACK. My dad had a 1974 gold dog edition. GOLD DOG means everything on it was made by MACK. It was a cabover with a v8 and 6 speed and had lots of power.

My dad was a diesel mechanic back in the day and worked on a lot of Mack’s along with other brands, but I don’t think I ever saw him working on a cab over Mack. Did see him work on a cab over Pete in the driveway that was dropped off one day. I don’t know if he’d like the modern trucks with all the “extra gadgets” on them.

Right to Repair, and yeah equipment prices are insane. Then on top of it you can't just swap parts - all the parts have to be registered with the computer and only a dealer can do that. So you gotta sit there for days to weeks with your equipment out in the middle of the field useless while your crop spoils, and pay top dollar for the privilege.

Back in the early nineties I drove a Mack COE day cab (I don't recall if it was single axle or not) a few times that looks like that model, the cab floated on air bags. As I recall it had a five speed manual. I've never seen any other rig with a five speed.

That Mack Cabover is definitely older than the two single drive axle Mack Cabovers (both had a Maxidyne Engine with a mere 5 speed manual transmission) that my dad and paternal grandparents had in their trucking company many moons ago. I know the account that those trucks were bought and used to haul 54 feet of cubed out paper products that were hauled in two 27 foot trailers from a point that was located somewhere on the south side of the Grapevine in California (I-5) to some point on the north side of that famous/infamous mountain pass. This Mack Exclusive engine was a torque monster that allowed that part of the run to be done at the maximum allowable speed limit. My dad told me the other drivers used to tease us, saying we must have been deadheading. Not knowing the account called for us to haul paper products, it seemed as though nobody could believe the idea that both trailers could be cubed out. My dad said he once won $50 from one fellow driver who kept ruining his mouth until pop got out of CB Range. My dad said he was in the middle of eating a meal at Milt's Cafe in Bakersfield California, alongside the southbound CA-99 (Milt's now sits in a retail shopping center that was just a dirt field on the last day my dad and I ate there in 1981). The guy could've caught an NCAA official regulation size softball in his mouth when he saw for himself that my dad was telling the truth about both trailers being cubed out.

Joe of the Only 4 Trucks KZbin channel;his dad has a Mack cabover;a 1980 or a 1981 Mack Ultraliner cabover to be exact,it's black with some pinstriping and is a tandem axle just like that metallic blue & white Mack Ultraliner cabover. The only difference between the Mack Ultraliner cabover that you saw at that truckstop;and the Mack ultraliner cabover Joe's dad owns,is that metallic blue & White Mack Ultraliner cabover is an early to mid 90's model as it has cab air ride whereas the Mack Ultraliner that Joe's dad owns,has solid cab mounts because it is an early 80's model. With a paint marker;a magnetic drill,and a bottle of drill oil,modifications can be made to convert an early to mid 80's Mack Ultraliner to have air ride cab mounts from Link Air Ride Suspensions.
