don't worry about people saying I want to hear a cold start because it not worth tearing up your equipment to please them just start it with that pack running sounds better and you don't have to wait long for that heat either.
@whatever812511 ай бұрын
Beat me to it. Exactly what I was thinking. Until somebody drives up with that $500-$600 starter with a mechanic to change it, I wouldn't do it. Won't be tearing up my stuff just to appease a stranger on KZbin. Second thought, I wouldn't do it then either.

That mountain might have been, what we call Eisenhower, because of the tunnel. I believe it’s official Loveland Pass. However, you would have to jump onto Hwy 6 to go over it. All hazmat loads have to take it. Once was running with a driver I met running west and he had hazmat. It’s so beautiful up there, I take it in the summer if I have the time.

Challenger and 5501 is now in another place. UP only has 4014 and 844. they donated the challenger, the Centennial and the other steam engine to focus on 4014. even 844 has taken a minor back seat as she does not have the PTC gear that 4014 does.

It was donated and moved last year along with some other pieces of equipment including the DDA40X 6936 to the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America in Silvis IL. Only the 4014, 844 and 838 (parts unit for 844) are at the Cheyenne Steam Shops now.

I was taught to hit those chains with your bar after you pull that binder. Sometimes that can be enough to make them shift or turn a link over on its side and it pops lose again. But you always do a good job with your load securement. So what do I know? LOL I like your videos by the way. Orwell is looking good.
@HyperActive711 ай бұрын
From my experiences of being in the west, I learned if you don't plan ahead or don't have chains. it will test even the most experienced traveler when it wants to if you don't pay attention to the forecasts or hope you don't have to turn around and go back into the city because of a June snowstorm.

back in the 90s & early 2000s the fine was 500$ for each wheel position if caught by DOT depending on how many chains each state said you were required to carry. the company trucks had chain bank hangers so we carried chains year round. it was easier to carry them year round instead of trying to get by the office to pick them up.
