That was a really good deal actually, it looked ok. The check in warning was scary but at least you know the staff care enough to let you know. Shame things have been ruined by people trashing the place in the past leading to so many warnings, but it still was really good for the price.

Clean, comfortable, functional for £33 a night! What's not to like? For a short stopover, in budget, with no frills, this would suit me too! And sometimes these smaller hotels offer a lot more in information, help and friendliness.Thanks for checking these places out, Tim - very useful!

We actually stayed at the Hotel Iris a few years ago for a cheap week away and it was great. The owners were very nice people and actually upgraded us to a little apartment with a balcony for no extra cash. We would definitely stay again, but the lady's warnings were right, as two guys attempted to rob us in the lane outside when we came back from a night out. Luckily forewarned is forearmed and they got nothing. Nice little holiday though if the money's a bit tight.

Nothing wrong with that for 33 quid. Good sized room, air con, large bed, clean sheets and towels, soap, tv, shower, desk. The bar looked quite nice too.

It's almost like 2 different towns in one. The new town and old town are polls apart. The Old Town is still very traditional, whilst also having everything you need.

I went with friends last year and was quite shocked. It’s not somewhere I would have booked but I had an amazing time. Yes there is some tacky parts (like most places) But the old town was gorgeous. Lovely French wine and tapas and the beach is lovely.

@@WalkWithMeTim that’s very true. Never seen the shows like Benidorm but bits and just assumed it was all drunk brits, sunburnt eating full English and fish and chips! When I holiday I like to experience the culture and sights of the area not feel like I’m in a spoons beers garden. Maybe I’ll visit for a long weekend one day.

Well, that was indeed a surprise! Good of the lady to give the warning about thefts and safety, although it could be somewhat off putting. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for, but here it would seem (albeit pretty basic) you actually get a little more than what you pay for. Goes to show that if you shop around, you can sometimes find a bargain.

Honestly would be happy to stay there - it's clean - the owners / managers care about you, there's a small bar area. I used to hostel a lot and have done up until a couple of years ago - this is better than a hostel and probably the same sort of price. Love the content Tim!

I usta Hostel too and was forced to in 2019 Prague the cheapest hotel was $200,the 6 bed room,$25 with a fine all you can eat breakfast. The 4 Dutch girls left very quietly in the morning-hostelers are usually young and fun.

Thats pretty decent, and especially for the price, it was very good. It looked clean and although minimal it had all you need. In my early 20’s I paid way more for a hotel in Spain (I realise its a different place) that was an absolute state, but it was my first holiday alone with friends so I didn’t think to complain. This place you found would of been perfect if you just want somewhere to sleep, but intend to be out all day and evening(what I was thinking the place in Spain would be, but it ended up being not even up to standard to sleep) so I think you scored well on this place. Love the lady and her honesty, seemed very nice by looking out for you👍🏻

Hi Tim thanks for another excellent video. That Hotel Iris does not look that bad. The room had its own bathroom, a big wardrobe and very spacious and the bed did not look that bad either. The lady was lovely looking out for you and warning about crime.

I don't think it's in a bad area. It's a nice quiet side Street, but the main shopping streets are at the bottom of that street, tapas alley is a 5 minute walk from there. For me the location is perfect.

Love watching your vids (subscribed some time ago) I find them very relaxing. They have also made me want to travel again. I live in the states and will soon be heading to San Antonio Texas to stay in an art deco skyscraper from 1929. Stayed there before. There are 2 buildings old (1929) and new. The old is the tallest. Guests can go to the roof of both buildings as well as balconies in many different areas for some incredible pics. Also breakfast and dinner are free in the lobby. So excited to be traveling again. First trip since 2018! Keep the vids coming please!

Similar to the plug sockets, I have noticed some premier inns have all the light switches one side and only a some switches on the other. My thinking is that they like to put more on the side nearer the door to the room? And less on the side further away. Count the light switches when you're in a premier inn next each side you'll notice they are not the same number or functions etc!

2 mins in and you're in room 101 oooooo. I used to visit Spanish friends in Barcelona and stay in a really cheap pension in the Gothic quarter. Dark, woody, very cheap. The owners warned me of robbers in the area and to be careful. There was actually a street called 'robbers street' (in Catalan of course). Great fun, loved it.

I know men who were robbed at knifepoint in Benidorm, They didnt take safety precautions . They were out alone in the early hours and had been drinking so an easy target, This could happen anywhere though

The one and only time I ever ran into bedbugs was in Benidorm. It was a very crowded summer week and no rooms available anywhere. We drove from Valencia and met a guy who moved his 80 year old mother out of her flat for 2 nights so we'd have a place to stay and he could make a few bucks. Man, we were bitten up and couldn't wait to get out of there.

Seems fine to me. Characterful little street. The only place I’ve ever been warned of crime was a caravan park near Edinburgh, apparently the locals come through and nick bikes or anything valuable that has been left outside.

Always get right down to the mattress for inspection of anything unwanted. So was it a good quite night's sleep?

Interesting. A basic room at a good price. There are countless similar ones where I live in Thailand which go for about 25 quid. I really don't like the window security 'gate', and shower curtains are my pet hate. So much so that when I built an extension on my house I included a walk-in shower area big enough to hold a double bed. But yes, a good hotel to base yourself in. After all, how long do you spend in it, except to sleep.

hotel iris is a decent cheap hotel not a dive when i stayed there in 2014. I remember a stayed in a hotel in Dakar, Senegal once and when I checked in the receptionist spent 10 minutes warning me about the local area being full of prossies and drug dealers and slagged off the hotel as well it was a 4 star Ramada as well!
