Yay! Beautiful job Bayley. If I may, and forgive me if this has already been suggested - but a method I use for squeeze the water from my knitwear is to leave it in the basin, while you take out the plug and let the water drain. You can smoosh the knit against the sides of the basin and let that water drain - even go an have a coffee and leave it for a few minutes. When your ready you can scoop it up from the bottom of the basin - all together, rather than pulling one end or arm or shoulder - straight onto a towel - arrange it flat, roll it up in the towel and then I use my bare feet (!) and press along the length of the rolls up towel/jumper sausage to extract more mositure - from there it will be damp but not dripping and your blocking should only take overnight.

I do the same! It gets a lot of water out.

So glad I found your video! I'm in the process of knitting my first sweater as well. I call it a vanilla sweater as it's just a plain stockinette stitch raglan knit. I knit socks all the time, so it's time for a sweater!

I'm so impressed! I like your idea for the granny squares to do a whole bunch of centers, then add all the middles to each of them, then add all the edges - that's a strategy I hadn't thought of and is smart. I'm working on sewing teddy bears right now. They're fun.

Congratulations on finishing your sweater. It looks so beautiful and really suits you. After years of crocheting, I finally got the hang of knitting a few weeks ago! Although still very much a newbie, I agree that knitting in the round is meditative. I’m working on the “ Sock Yarn Cowl” from Noble Knits. Just an inch of 2x2 rib (which took me forever since it was my first time) and now the main part is just knitting in the round. I can highly recommend it if you’re looking for an easy pattern to relax with. It only takes 50 grams of fingering weight yarn.

Oh my word Bayley that is stunning! The style, colour and beautiful job you have done. Tino pai tou mahi! Love the new crafting addition to your channel, crafting is so wonderful (and my thing). Wool always stretches but I lay flat like you mentioned and along with my help with placement it shrinks back into shape as it dry's. My nana taught me to knit, crochet, sew, cook etc when I was a kid. Your channel inspired me to knit/crochet cotton wash cloths, kind of the smallest items to make, but for me big on satisfaction. which I have loved! 🌺🌺🌺

The sweater is amazing, it fits you so perfectly and the colour is beautiful. To follow the evolution of your skills is fascinating. I had to give up hope of ever becoming a knitter, but watching your consistency and progress is inspiring for my own projects. ❤

Completely enjoying your updates. Someday I will expand my knitting skills, but today is not that day.🙃 I have a stack of flannel to cut/sew into casual everyday napkins. I give them as gifts to my family each year. I also want to find a new cross stitch project to do as we head into fall.

I enjoy seeing all of your projects. You can knit a cardigan in the round and then cut up the middle of the front. The cutting part is called steeking. I've never tried it so I don't know how brave one needs to be.

@@bayleymadeit As long as you use 100% wool, it's absolutely fine. There are good videos here on you tube showing you how to crochet two and two stiches together and how to cut. I understand it can be daunting when you're a new knitter, so keep at it, you're doing great!!

Looks lovely! Sometimes I pick up stitches under the arm and knit through the back loop to twist the stitch and prevent holes. Also knit cardigans in the round can be cut using a technique called steeking. Best to try making a coffee mug cozy using this technique first or something else small like a baby cardigan. It’s how to make a colour work or fair isle cardigan easily :) Great job!

Hello! I’m working on my first sweater and I choose the Novice Sweater like you. I just put arm hole stitches on a holder. I’m really enjoying this process. Her videos are helpful, even though for me they are in a different language (I should say they are translated in English wording underneath the video) I’m making a small also. Fun that I found your videos.

Your sweater is gorgeous. I've just started my fifth sweater, but I've never knit a Petite Knit one. I've also never knit a cardigan as knitting back and forth like that would drive me crazy. I'm admiring your taking on that challenge and I can't wait to see the cardigan develop.

Congratulations! And well done, it's fun to see you get the bug ;) Beautiful yarns, too. I have several things on the go most of the time and currently just switching into winter knits and some bigger needle stuff, which I don't often do, as I prefer a 2.5-4mm needle size. I find 5-6mm much harder on the hands and I can't knit for so long at a time as with thinner needles. Right now I am reknitting some old yarn into an autumn jacket and also making a really heavy-duty Icelandic jumper for winter dog-walks; the latter is a Linka Neumann pattern with a pawprint design, she does very colourful sweaters in thick yarns, gorgeous. Another sweater has been thrown in the corner for now - by a popular new designer, I love the colours and design but her chart numbers/increases don't add up in my size and obviously it's not been well enough tested before publishing, which is so annoying after you've paid for a book. I should have known better, it's happened before with an inexperienced designer, and now I have to be in the mood to do the maths to correct the pattern for myself (I still want it!) and frog back a bit to figure it out. You're not going to have that problem with any Petite Knit patterns! I've made quite a few, including the Sunday T-shirt in a seacell yarn. Good luck with yours, I'll look forward to seeing what colour you choose!

The sweater looks lovely! And I love the colours in the Granny Squares! When I’m washing my kids hand knitted sweaters I place them wet between two bath towels and gently press to absorb some water…… I’m not a knitter so I’m not sure if that’s the done thing but it helps with drying time 😊

I do that too. Wash by hand and then roll in a towel and stomp on it. That's how my mum taught me to wash woolen jumpers and she knows how to knit. :)

The sweater looks amazing! How do you keep track of where you are on the pattern of each project? Having several on the go with different needles is probably good for your hands to avoid strains etc. you’ve come a long way from knitting dish cloths!
