And I finished it just in time for the end of 2023. In this week's video, I will be going over how I did all the trimming on this gown, as well as the making of the entire dickey-type neck piece. And of course, showing you the final reveal!

That red ribbon that you cut on the curve really adds a special touch to this dress. I actually like the projects that take a long time and require a whole lot of videos because it emphasizes all the hard work it takes to build an historical costume. It would take me forever so it encourages me as well. Thanks so much for all that you share and do.

I feel like a narrow red ribbon bow "tie" around the collar would make this even better. I just feel like that is a large blank expanse of that ecru color, and it's almost blending in with your skintone a bit, so having that pop of red right at the neck would help give some separation and indicate the top point of the collar a little more strongly. I think if the lace and dickey/bib were bright white, it probably wouldn't be an issue, because then there would be more of a tonal variance between your skintone and the fabric. But I also think the ecru is prettier overall than brighter white would have been, so I wouldn't change it by any means. I think a red ribbon embellishment of some kind there would be worth a try at least, anyway.

Bow OR Broach! Either would be lovely, and work to break up the sea of ecru. If bow, match to the cooor of the red ribnon in the overskirt.

Aahh, you look so pretty! The red is really stunning, and I love how it is dual tone, so elegant. For me personally, I realized that I'd have to see the dress up close to really appreciate the plaid, or have different lighting. Still, a gorgeous Christmas dress. And I so so want to make the green dress you modeled the bow after!

You should make a cosplay of the 2015 version of Cinderella! 1940s/50s meets Victorian! Sandy Powell deserves a 10/10 for her work on the Cinderella remake! She even made the Stepfamily look fantastic! I wish they had kept the original color palette of burgundy/mauve for Lady Tremaine! It helps sell Lady Tremaine's royal aspirations for her daughters!

I love this dress! It's the dress that never ends, but having seen the inside of extant garments, one kind of gets the feeling that at some point, they said ENOUGH! Just baste the damn thing in, we'll pin the rest, I'm WEARING THE DRESS!!! But seriously, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS DRESS. And I don't mind all the videos, heaven knows I've experienced the exact same thing more than once. It's like Cathy Hay said when she finished the green walking skirt "...just keep right on doing the blasted thing until it can no longer deny, that it is in fact, absolutely and irrevocably completely bloody well done." I'm feeling it.

I really love that red band that you put at the bottom of the front apron today. It looks so pretty and it just makes the dress I think. I do think you need to have a little help adjusting the bustle it looked a little different from what I would normally expect. But you did that without any other person is amazing. I am flabbergasted at the skills of KZbinrs. I can barely frame a picture straight. Stadium is a bit of a haul from Auburn . I’ve always thought it was beautiful, but I never had any events there even though my high school was just up the road in Federal Way. (Go Eagles!) I have loved that dress from the beginning because the fabric is beautiful and you totally made the right decision with the ecru versus the white . I was afraid you were going to just keep on going with that and waste all sorts of time because I could not see how that one was ever going to come out nicely, although you have surprised me plenty of times. I can’t wait to see what 2024 brings.

Beautiful, but I think the bottom of the plaid strip in the front needs to be finished with the lace for a frilly emphasis of having a luxurious second layer of fabric over the red. That high school is beautiful! And the bricks are perfect for the shoot!

Is that where the phrase "Mind your own bustle!" came from? I love that plaid. (Do you get brownie points for suggesting fun games for Costume College? I thought it would be fun for there to be a wall upon which participants could post copies of the original prints from which they are creating their costume. Then, when an observer can correctly match the two, they would get an 'atta boy' or somesuch acknowledgement. Perhaps that is too involved? Oh, well.)

Lady Rebecca, just wanted to say your dress is lovely, but i am curious about one detail, your gloves are they custom made or did you make them yourself? what material are they made out of? are they opera length? i ask because i want to have a pair made for an outfit that is gilded age and i want to make sure the look, length and material of the gloves fit the time period. thank you and happy sewing.

+ladyrebeccafashions *I consider the bustle-dress project a success.* The Gothic & Lolita Bible, a now-discontinued quarterly from Index Communications Ltd. (the last edition was Winter 2017, released 24 February), had fashion plates _galór_ for the 可愛家 _Kawaii no ke_ - perhaps ye could obtain reproductions of the included fashion plates?
@beatriceotter8718
@beatriceotter8718 Жыл бұрын
I think the problem with the first trim was indeed the fabric. Your fabric has a lot more gray in it than the fashion plate. From what we see on the screen, the plate fabric is pinkish/red with a bit of gray, and yours is gray with pink/red stripes. From a distance, it looks like the fabric in the fashion plate. Up close, it is a LOT grayer, and bright white just did not work with it.

🤩Gorgeous ! One of your best achievements.👏👏👏 But ... The volumes are not where they ought to be : too much on the chest, not enough on the shoulders and on the front top of the head. Hats were worn forwards and not backwards at this era ! It ruins the silhouette, the ensemble, to wear it this way.😢 I haven't watched all the video ; may be you intend to improve the accuracy of the haircut and hat. I hope so, 'cause you'll be absolutly astonishing when those little details will be settled. OMG !😉
