Honestly, the rank soft reset along with the 7 wins/20 loss rank updates has killed my motivation to play ranked. The grind has always been tedious since it's a team game that only rewards wins and not individual performance. Artificially derankinf everyone just makes it even more of a grind, since you're (supposedly) just playing against the same level of skill players but at a lower rank. Add to the fact that matchmaking can be horrible and the meta not feeling that great, if I do play overwatch, I just play qp so even if I lose I don't get tilted out of my mind.

It'd be fine if the MMR was tied to your rank cuz then you'd get a bunch of easy games at the start of the season, what they're doing instead is stupid. In a year you'll have bronze lobbies full of T500s.

@@cyanite15 Yeah, I ended ow1 in low diamond. ow2 put me in high gold. After climbing back to mid plat last season (because guess what, I was demotivated), this season put me mid-gold. And yes my games have a bunch of diamond challengers and are not "gold" caliber. As support especially it makes me feel like it's not worth it to bother. Imo we should have rank OR mmr, it makes no sense to see an apparently meaningless rank yet have no idea what our actual skill level is considered to be by the game... because no one else's rank means anything either! Not that you even know what other people's ranks are 80% of the time...
