Another great video for your dad… my distances are similar and I struggled hitting the hybrids constantly now I go 7wood 5wood 3 wood much easier to hit and much higher

I’m 52 and have been playing only up to a 6 iron in the irons. I’ve played a 5, 4, and 3 hybrid for the last 4 years after a spinal fusion/bicep reattachment and rotator cuff replacement. I’m down to an 8.5 hcp and will never play long irons again. I’ve found if I sweep the hybrids off the ground like a 3 wood they perform much better for me, and are certainly more accurate. I don’t play them as forward in my stance as a 3 wood, but I would have to say I’m not hitting “down” on them like my irons. I try to make contact with the ball at the lowest point of my swing arch and man do they fly. The key is just the same as any club…make ball contact first before turf interaction.

Thank you!!!! I enjoyed this video. See if you can find a MASTER GRIP 7 and or 5 wood for your dad. Then find a newer club with same specs. I love my 7 wood! At 58 and a swing that is gradually slowing, these MASTER GRIP clubs keep my score low. I just haven't the knowledge to know how to find an equivalent. I wonder if he will hook the hybrids as he likes the left the let side....please make a video n fix his entire bag! please. He seems very worth it!!!!!

Been struggling with my 4 hybrid as of late. Think playing with ball position might help a bit. Realized I need to start considering a 5wood soon. 3wood is starting to become my 270-280 club and my hybrid was there for the 225-235 gap when I was only hitting my 3 wood 250-260….. getting more consistent in ball striking is nice but damn does it mess up my gapping lol.

Used to love my 4 hybrid but my new 4 iron kind of took its place now I never really need it unless I need a high spinny 210ish yarder. I am horrible with my 3 and 5 wood so I went with a 3 utility and looking at maybe getting a 2 hybrid. Curious if your dad would do better with a utility due to the weight. I’ve also found the older people generally like the look and feel of the iron due to the old school clubs they used to use, maybe that’s the answer for him. I know some companies offer that 5 utility iron. I know my mom uses my old regular flex 4 iron instead of the usual ladies hybrid that is offered. Not the best ball flight but fits the distance gap

I think there is a lot of great information on KZbin but there’s as much poor information out there. I’d say stick with someone your trust. I think having a basic understanding of what I’m doing is actually more dangerous because I find something that works till I reach a point it doesn’t for any particular swing fault I have and I find myself in a hole week by week tweaking something else till I find something that clicks again. Seems like a ping g25 5 wood and 7 wood would be the perfect fit and cost about $70 total for both? And isn't the QI hl 5 iron 23.5 degrees and the ping g5 4 iron 24 degrees?

Your Dad’s bad shots remind me of me! When he doesn’t turn through the shot, it not such a good result, but when he gets a good turn thru, he hits it really well. Don’t know why we do it, we just quit on it. Any ideas for helping to turn through really well? Anyone?

You can try thinking back to target (back swing) and chest to target (follow through).

Sure can 👍🏻 Play with the ball position and see if getting it closer to your front foot makes it easier to hit. That helped my dad. You could also try a slightly wider stance.
