Reminds me a little of the old Henry Cotton tyre drill.

I too am learning to let my natural athleticism take priority over the overthinking lump on top of my shoulders. And when I put it all together, it's the best feeling! Keep on keeping on!

Fellow towel smasher here. Thanks for helping me find Liam's TGN site. Am now a member and swing has never felt better. Can't wait for more content from the mother land.

Liam is a revolutionary in golf instruction. So interesting how he can spot swing issues and use such subtle drills to help fix them. Great video James

Love the drill, but the wife is getting angry that the bathroom towels are disappearing. I keep blaming the kids, but I feel like she's catching on....

I think you are right James. The towel drill works for you. Some drills resonate with me and make huge differences. Others have a negative effect even though they are designed to fix the same problem. I think the towel drill takes away the temptation to overthink the positions. Good luck, you are a very good player.

I do the drills at home hitting balls into a net, and then take the feels to the range. Not ideal, but wouldn’t live long retrieving a towel at the shooting gallery us hackers frequent. Smash Bag Towel is definitely changing my swing but I don’t trust it yet because it feels like I’m hitting too hard and trading “control” for “dynamics”… but for now my goal is tempo and a more natural athletic swing. Mostly just seeking really solid square contact and feeling power through (not at or before) impact. The smash towel really helps this feel.

Golf is hard so don't let it get the better of you. Look at the positives, in S Africa doing what you love, living the dream. Be happy whatever the process, its never a grind just extra goodness on top of what is already great.

Keep plugging away James. My take from the original lesson was that Liam wanted you to repeat the drill before taking the shot and that meant even in competition 😳 - makes sense when your trying to get it ingrained after playing a certain way for so long 👍🏻 Edit: not the towel but obvs but certainly the one handed drill 😂

I get how the towel is better than an impact bag, but it would be nice to have an aid that you don't have to chase around but at the same time, won't snag the club.

Imagine being at the driving range & having to continually pluck your towel from the head of the gentleman on your left ! 😁😎

@@Quicks792 yeah try 3 towel, then 1 golf ball on the range 👍

The key is to do like 15 reps or the towel and then immediately hit a ball without spending any time thinking about it. That will start connecting the muscle memory to the swing.

So my neighbours don’t continually have towels going into there gardens , would a smash bag do the same ?

I dont understand why you are still looking for something to unlock a swing . I seem to remember you had a lesson with Marcus at GRF. Ive watched a ton of his lessons and yours with him and i use the methods myself to great effect. Why are you still struggling? I think its fair to say his methods are next level, he teaches in a completely different way to traditional positional coaching. I would've thought that his lesson would have sorted out any swing issues you were having. Hope all goes well.
@qbb012 ай бұрын
He is severely stuck due to his backswing and is looking for a way out of it. Getting off the ball like he does is making it very difficult for himself and he’s always going to be fighting left shots with it. He can fix it pretty easily by just turning on top of the ball. I had the same issue for years but after I saw grant field (cam smiths coach) I was fixed after one lesson. My ballstriking has never been better with less practice. The way you load really impacts your end result and consistency and he is really not loading in a way that will lead to automatic shots that are consistent. I tried to leave him this info multiple times but I don’t think he reads the comments much.
