Idk I thought Breaking Bad's yellowish colour grading is stylised and beautiful. At least it isn't bland or grey/ugly looking. Another movie where I think the yellowish look is beautiful is Whiplash Yeah but I don't really like the blue tint in Twilight

its not 100% about mexico, in the show there is many different representations of things in color, mostly being in clothing and stuff like that. Yellow is usually connected to the meth business, and green being connected to his green and money and stuff. there was a whole video breaking down every color and its meaning in the show. This show had picked its color and color grading very carefully.

The point of color grading in braking bad is to represent about the characters and scene they are in, in a way by choosing yellow vince and his team gave albaquerque and desert a certain feel to it and sets the tone taking it out of won't feel the same way.

Its normal, since it is a compressed image it loses a lot of data in the color correction, if the original masters were available the colors would be more precise.

It's just a bit sad that the "fixed" version does not improve the movie at all. For both cases. It brings the "more realistic version" that does not help at all to tell visually a story. I'd prefer the yellowish version for almost 100% it is used when compared to the "realistic" version.

Can't agree less to be honest, color grading is one of the biggest parts in creating a creative, emotional and cinematic look. It supports and allows the cinematographer to achieve what he was looking for, without color grading films wouldn't be the same

@@merakyraw Every piece of media doesn’t need a filter put on it. People don’t need a color everywhere to tell them how to feel.
@merakyraw Жыл бұрын
@@101-q6t its not a filter but a creative choice, movies look like that for a reason, All quiet on the western front has a blueish predominance to feel more raw, harsh and war-like. There is not a single movie without a proper and thrughly thought color grading.
@ArnoldTohtFan Жыл бұрын
@@merakyraw For the overwhelming majority of cinema's history, there was no colour grading. The most emotionally riveting films of all time come from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, when there was no grading. Ergo, it is completely unnecessary, and everyone using it as a “creative tool” is a talentless hack.
@merakyraw Жыл бұрын
@@ArnoldTohtFan it would be a massive error to affirm that movies weren't graded back in the day. The absence of color didn't mean color wasn't something they played around with, every single piece of clothing and background objects were careful selected to generate a contrast in the black and white stock. And in revelation they played with how the film stock was reveled to cause a sensation or another, adding or removing contrast, playing with highlights... that is also color grading. They even painted manually some frames to add deepness to the feeling, so no, its not a talent-less hack but a craft that takes years to master and that makes movies what they are today.
