I first raced at the Feeedom Factory when Tom Stimus owned it back in 1980. I drove a 1969 Dodge Charger with a 440 in it in the Street Stock division. I later raced Enduro's, and a Sportsman Camero there on Hoosier slicks. I was 20 when I first raced there. I'm now 65. If given the opportunity I would do it again. Lived seeing you and Matt there. I live less than an hour wast of the track. I'm going to try and be at the Freedom 500 in person. God Bless you all.

Hey, old timer! Back when it was called the DeSoto Speedway and the drag strip was the DeSoto Memorial Dragway. It's my local patch too. Hope and pray we get to keep it from the developers.

I've raced dirt track speedway my entire life and oval track bitumen once, the difference is huge. Matt did incredibly well and it's great to see the Utah Mafia finally make the grade at the best little racetrack on earth. That was one of the most fun to watch videos on this channel in ages, I smiled through the whole thing. I'm impressed with Matt's time, he may just have a chance. Garrett is just such a naturally nice guy, he can't help but make folk feel at home.

Yep, that's my town. The ice cream shop is at St Armands Circle and the beach is on Lido Key. The Bradenton Motorsports Park (drag strip) is over 50 years old and The Freedom Factory is right next door. Sarasota is a beautiful place to visit and has something for everyone.

Agree with Matt. That real fine Utah red sand is faaar worse than Florida's. Utah sand will go through your shoes, and socks, and turn white socks pink for days afterwards, lol.... (I did some hiking at Coral Sands State Park near Wahweep at Lake Powell. Same thing going on a Monument Valley tour. Utah sand sucks. 😁)

Sugar sand is way finer than beach sand, with a mix of sand and dust, so it doesn't really "lock together". I don't know if it's really worse because I've never been in blow sand, but it's pretty much the same technique for driving on. Air down, hold your speed😅

Robby, you were in my hometown and you didn't call or text!😅😂 If you get back to SRQ, you need to check out Walts Fish Market. Great place for locally caught seafood. Oh, the sand they were talking to about was probably from Siesta Key Beach, just few minutes south.
