The captain was responsive to the need to land and have paramedics take patient to a medical facility. The staff on Spirit were GREAT!!!! After landing and heading home we received and thank you from Spirit with a discount on our next flight. The crew were a class act. And the captain was very appreciative and concerned for his passenger as they all were. The passengers were soooo supportive as well. All were respectful for the person experiencing this event. That's a very valid point. In my home airport, American is notorious for that. They give you a 35 minute connection time and a 72% on time rate with more than one option. @@getmeouttatennessee4473 I couldn’t agree more about Delta vs American. I have had horror stories on American and dropped my credit card with them because their service was so bad. I lived in the Virgin Islands for a year and they were the only option, other than Continental (which is now United). With American I almost always had to change planes in Puerto Rico when coming back to the states, whereas Continental had direct flights to Newark. I live in San Francisco, and usually fly Delta when I have a choice. I took them to Barcelona in 2020 and it was a pleasant experience. If you’re surprised by that when you get on a flight with them and don’t like the high carryon prices, the fact you have to pay for drinks etc, then you should just pay the extra cost for a United, southwest flight etc. most of the issues I find when I go on spirit flights are the passengers. Jacob Greenwood I agree I am from the uk and most often fly easyJet as they literally have the best value flights and give me all I need, I have sufficient room and I get to my destination, so you can’t complain. I do find the big companies are better at dealing with things, but that is as they have more reserve aircraft as they have the money to afford it, and I find people hate on the low cost airlines as they always want to try and find something wrong.
@applerunner4 жыл бұрын
Having experience with both the EU/UK and the US Low Cost carriers, the US ones are way worst. They are tolerable if everything is smooth, but if something goes wrong it turns into a nightmare. Also the upselling and the trying to get you to spend more money is way more annoying. In contrast the EU/UK ones are pretty much just no frills airlines. The more important thing is that the EU/UK ones are way cheaper.

I must admit when you said the seats were fixed on Frontier my first thought was disgust. But it's actually a fantastic idea for economy. @@xcalibertrekker6693 That's unavoidable in economy. Most seats (on the same aircraft) are about the same width on all airlines because they can't make the plane any wider or narrower. @videogameplayer05524 жыл бұрын
xaifer, while the starting salary for pilots is pretty low, after just a few years, you can make like 70k at regional airlines, and then a few years later, you can easily be making six figures as a pilot. Ask any pilot out there, and the majority will tell you that they do it because they love their job. The joy of flying is enough, to be willing to start with a very low salary. And some regional airlines hire people without college degrees, who will typically fly the smaller jets, but if you want to fly the very large planes, across the whole country, or even all around the world, then the best path is an aviation university, where they combine professional flight training with a 4 year degree. These programs usually are very expensive, but if you take out a loan, and you finish the program, then you get to be a pilot, and you can pay off the loan after a few years. There are also airlines, that make a deal with you, where they 100% cover the cost of your flight training, as long as you agree to work with them for a specific amount of years.

Nice comment👍🏻People who dont fly often many times dont realise that. Same with the ammount of fees adding to your total cost if your flying for vacation with lots of luggage for example. And if its your first or only flight in ten years maybe with your whole family the amount disappointment and stress in that situation when youre left lost at an airport because the airline does not or can not care for you although it is often times their fault (overbooked flights for example) is so much higher than if youre a frequent flyer. And bad expierences with flying are often a constant reminder making you have negative emotions towards flying in general. If you fly enough to have missed a few flights and have spent a night on an airport bench you dont care as much anymore😂But it makes you appreciate service more and makes you give it a healthier balance against cost

Back when the Russia/Ukraine thing went up there was also a storm system on the East coast. I was on my way to Amsterdam (from Malaga) to connect to a Boston flight. I was already delayed by an hour. I got an email on my phone (as soon as I got data) at the gate telling me I was re-booked on the ATL flight, which was an even tighter connection. This is big shit when you're at an airport you don't know, are sleep-deprived, and just want to get home. I _just_ made it, thanks not to KLM but to the AMS airport staff that expedited me through the checks and called the gate to let them know I was coming. I jogged the length of Schipol and of course once on the plane the f*cking thing sat there for an hour, so I had to run in Atlanta too. Ah, the joys of travel... I was lucky in that I had access to email, otherwise I would have burned all the time trying to figure it all out at the xfer desk in AMS, and also I only had carry-on, so no luggage to worry about. This was actually the very first time I'd travelled light and it paid off handsomely.

I'm a flight attendant for a low cost carrier. In my career, I did fly for a major for over 8 years. There is obviously a vast difference between full service and ultra low cost service. Like someone else said, you get what you pay for. Your fare buys you a seat only. You have to pay for everything else including water. I think a lot of people who flew years ago expect that same level of service. I love my job and have a lot of fun with my passengers, but I have had to explain these two big differences quite a lot to people. The most important goal of any airline is to get everyone to their destination safely and on-time. Unfortunately, we aren't always able to do that and that's what we feel bad the most for. 😞

@@platonymous IDK ... I'd GUESS they don't "make them" but don't discourage it either.

@@TMAN30 Now THAT'S funny! They are like comedians though: they can tell the same jokes over and over and perfect them over time.

I flew for business every two to three weeks per month for over 20 years. With discount airlines like these it’s hard to be critical and I can’t really say that I have ever had a problem with any airline. Just as you can’t pick your family, you also can’t pick the passengers on a plane which is were any issue comes from when flying.

unrelated but what did you do that required that kind of travel? recent business grad interested in traveling.

The biggest travel hack is to fly Spirit but upgrade to the seats at the front for $50 extra. I tried that recently, and holy hell what a total GAME-CHANGER. More leg room, more width, embark/disembark first, and bathroom only 3 steps away.
