Nicely done. Great instructor too. I’ve instructed many new shooters and many of them shoot very well from the start. There’s a lot going on inside your head when you’re instructing, beyond what people see. You’re observing the shooter and helping improve their comfort, confidence, knowledge and marksmanship. But you’re also keeping a very close eye on safety. Not just for your shooter, but all over the range when there are others present.

For many of us enthusiasts, there are few things more satisfying than introducing someone to firearms for the first time. Like the Steven said, "blank slates" often do not have bad habits. With proper instruction and time, many people can be excellent marksmen. It also brings in more people to the community. Steven did great by starting with smaller calibers. I've met more than a few people than were given something waaay to powerful and it either hurt them, made them develop a flinch, or scared them. Those people go on to despise all firearms. Those fools that do that to newbies don't realize that it isn't funny, and it's hurting the community. Steven also did great by focusing on safety and slowly building on good habits. That gradual procedure is how everyone should learn. Safety 1st, Fun 2nd. Very well done!!!

For pistols, if they still make them, the GSG 1911 pistol would be best, or the sig sauer Mosquito (I believe it is discontinued) Rifles, Ruger 10/22, S&W M&P 15-22 Sport, Marlin Model 60, or any 22 rifles is best.
