The "cat and parcel" bit is a lowkey reference to Schrodinger's Cat. It's a scientific thought experiment describing the fact you can't know both a particle's position and destination at the same time. You have a cat in a box. There's a tripwire sensor that detects the decay of an atom that will unalive the cat. Until you open the box to observe it, you can't possibly know if it's unalive or alive, leaving it in a "superstate" of both unalive and alive.
