Turned out quite nice; for a 1st try to the finish, I'm impressed. Crafting the handle seemed as equally challenging as the blade.
@trumble7766 Жыл бұрын
This is legitimately impressive for a first time build, I couldn't tell you the number of times I've been watching "restoration videos" and they get to making the scales of a restored straight razor and they make something that looks awful and isn't ergonomic. Your scales look like factory produced ones made by a high end company. I've never seen a straight with such a thick spine/tang, but I'm fairly positive all of the production razors today are cut out of flat stock, heat treated, and ground out with no forging. Your shaving technique isn't terrible, but you need to pull downward/upward on your skin with your fingertips to pull the skin taut to get a really close shave, and avoid nicks and weepers. When I'm evening my sideburns I generally pull downwards at the corner of my jaw.

It’s been great watching your skills. I live in the UK AND ITS HARD TO FIND GOOD KNIVES HERE. I recently bought a Perkin bush knife, im no knife maker but the price of what the web site was showing for their knives made in the UK was really affordable for such nice looking knives. I waited over 8 weeks and when it arrived dissolution started Damascus blade, nothing like the picture dimensions and thickness of cutting edge differed from one end to the other. Handle buffalos horn either side of tang visually different in thickness, and cracks and dents on horn, Damascus finish really ruff. And to top it all the knives on the web site all made in Pakistan not UK. So when i look at my knife and look at the ones you are making no competition.
