I think you almost understated the properties of titanium. It will most certainly not poison you. Titanium is used in the medical field inside the human body for its extreme bio compatibility and very high corrosion resistance. In this case its “good thermal properties” are actually good because it has terrible thermal conductivity, keeping the handle cool. It’s totally overkill to make a ladle out of, but that is what make the ladle amazing. Edit - spelling.

I wonder if rough unfinished Ti like that has the same level of medical properties compared to polished pieces (apart from being less abrasive for tissues ofc).

@@Mr.Leeroy in some applications where you expect bone growth to ensure a more stable interface with the implant the material used is porous or at least has a rough surface because bone adheres better to it (there's more places for it to grab to) for example in dental implants some of the parts that get screwed directly to the mandible have a porous part so that the bone grows into it and holds it in place

Thank you for sharing the discovery of snow pumpkins with us. That was adorable. Also thank you for sharing forging a ladle. I've seen old (steel) ladles that look like about midway through your forging at 7:48 and now I understand how they got that look. The ones I saw growing up must have been made without much grinding back in the 1920s or 1930s (I'm not quite that old, but my grandmother is). My family in that time period was living in rural Missouri and I know they did their own metal repair work on a tractor from the 1920s so I'm pretty sure the hand forged metal pieces she had were made either there or in the nearest town. Sadly we don't have a lot of info and she didn't tell us a lot about that time period when she was still able to but it's nice to get a hint at how it came to be that way.

A Will Stelter premium forged cookingware set sounds like a fantastic Christmas gift. Im glad to see that the titanium didn't fight you at all besides the sliver that stuck you. It can be spark heavy from what I've seen.

Love the dull matte colours hot titanium makes. To receive a chunk of it from a legend like Michael Walker is a real treat, you’ve got some amazing friends and connections Will! Ladle looks great, personally a fan of the 22.5/80 volt blue you can get when anodizing but not everyone wants a blue spoon!

That forged look is awesome! In Copper and/or stainless steel I bet it would be a hit seller!
@murmenaattori6
@murmenaattori6 Жыл бұрын
Why would it not be a hit seller in titanium? Titanium has better corrosion and thermal resistance than even stainless steel, and leaches 0 toxic material while stainless steel still leaches chromium and nickel. The reason titanium is used in implants is because it does not react with the body in any way. One of the least toxic metals. Of course titanium is more expensive, so it cannot be made cheaply.
@GeorgeBP81
@GeorgeBP81 Жыл бұрын
Cheaper and easier to work with.
@murmenaattori6
@murmenaattori6 Жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeBP81 Oh you meant hit seller as in the profits it makes, not units ordered. Sorry. By the way, copper should be avoided as cookware due to toxicity, it leaches when in contact with acidic foods. Most sauces are too strong to be used with copper. Copper cookware always comes coated with steel, teflon or traditionally tin.

@murmenaattori6
@murmenaattori6 Жыл бұрын
Much better for long travels because of it's low weight. Of course it's not as strong against impacts as stainless steel but it has better corrosion resistance and unlike stainless steel, titanium does not leach chromium and nickel.
