I have my OLD stuff. Some of it does not work on the newest Z9 body unfortunately. But the true magic of a photo come from the person behind the camera and skill they have. My favorite all time camera - the Nikon D800 bar none. Just used it this past weekend for some stars! 🙏💖🤗

Great video and beautiful pics John. Oh no not the D800! Hope it’s ok. And you’re a camera-appreciato remember that. Man some of those bee shots are so amazing. That old lens can still weave some magic yet. Thanks for sharing the video John 👍🙏

Adrian!! This comment did not disappear - I have had others that are gone as well..... Yes, the D800 - it has either a dead spot on the sensor or something that will not come off. I plan on taking it to the camera shop down the street for a full service. It has the richest, deepest color and I will miss it if it goes away. Most of the time I can remove the spots for birds, but I can see it clearly in the Milky Way lapse on the upper left side of the images. In that spot, the bees are in the perfect light and shooting with the amazing single point Nikon focus, it hits spot on. When the birds are in flight I was switching to the group of 25 and again, it was nailing focus. I am so impressed with this lens and glad that I found it when James asked me to check my lenses. This was a really fun video to shoot. Thank you Adrian! 🙏 Have a fantastic week. 🤗💖

Man, that old lens still has a lot of life in it John! Great photos and time lapse. On the side by side comparison of cameras and bees, that D800, rich colors and warmth, wow!! Looked like great fun. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Bill!!! Thank you. 🙏 I noticed that as well, and that is the depth that I always talk about with the D800 - as limited as it is, it just has a magic to it that can not be matched with the other cameras. I am so happy I found this lens in my collection. I put it in the drawer with other lenses I rarely take out, and I am SO glad I did. So much fun making this video. Thank you Bill!! 🤗💖

Hi John. I think I’m following you down the D800 rabbit hole. I was just now looking for something to compliment my new to me D800 and 24-85 and 70-300 lenses and came upon this 35-135mm! I wanted some info on it and your one year old video popped up! The close-up bee shot with the D800 blew me away. Keep shootin’. 😊

Thank you, thank you!! I keep falling farther down into this rabbit hole and loving every minute of it. This past weekend, I had rented the Z9 and the 200-500 to adapt to it. The reason is I had pulled out my old D800 a few weeks ago and fell in love all over again. So, ........ I just bought a new Nikon 200-500 to put on my D800. Man, I sure do love this old camera body. I will see you somewhere lost in the depths of the rabbit hole!! 🤗💖🙏

Thank you for sharing this video John. Someone suggested trying single point focusing with this lens. It may help to maintain more consistent and accurate focusing.

Single point is still one of my favorites and I use it all the time on all my cameras - even the mirrorless ones! 🙏❤🤗

Very cool there's something about those old lenses. I have a manual 20mm really old nikkor that's tack sharp. I reversed it for macro though. I should do some street photography with it

This is the lens I told you I have. I forgot all about it, but I am having SO much fun with it. It really does take some amazing photos. You will most likely see it in my hands next time we go out! 🤗

I have a load of old film nikon lenses and still use them. I wouldn't sell them. Use them with the Z9 and adapter when it comes out.

NikCan!! I will do the same if I get it. I have so many great old lenses. This was just so much fun shooting a lens I forgot that I had. I don't plan on selling anything and I will remain a Nikon shooter. Gonna play with some Canon stuff, but never again for Sony!! Thank you NikCan. 🤗🙏

@@NikCan66 I bought this little Canon M50 - it was inexpensive and I needed/wanted a new small camera for video. I figured as long as I have it..... The other thing I keep forgetting to mention is how perfect the Nikons feel in the hand.
