This is actually very normal to find in rivers, you see doors can't be waterlogged, allowing java players an air pocket while mining under water

Wow. That was a really good one. For a moment, before you described the creature, I was wondering if it was maybe going to be a leprechaun or something. I never really go on any trails or forests. I think I’ve seen too many horror movies and read too many scary stories to even want to try. But this one, the only thing that would scare me is the pitch darkness. When I heard the word “gnome”, my mind immediately wandered over to this little gnome I have in my apartment. It holds a sign that says, “Chill Out” and he’s wearing sunglasses. But yesterday, I accidentally dropped him and he broke… :(

The metric fugg ton of force it would require to open a door underwater is way more than a man could produce.

When my area was initially being settled, a creek was rerouted to be easier to access for crops and livestock. It made it very straight through the stretch of land, and the water would get very hot during the summer, killing the salmon in it. In 2004 or so, the straightest section of the creek was redug to give it some meander, and so it flowed closer to a stand of trees for shade. I remember working with the conservation district to go along the rapidly draining straight section and check for any lingering critters (mostly crayfish). I learned the following week of something that had been found in the straight section on the neighboring property. It was a door. In the side of the channel was a very worn, wood and metal door. It had a line on it where it had obvious been only slightly underwater at some point, but had later become completely submerged as the flow through the creek increased over time. When the landowner crowbarred the rusty and waterlogged door open, they found someone's ancient cold storage, complete with a rancid lump of what was believed to be butter, likely over 100 years old. There were clay and earthenware crocks, ruined by being submerged in the cold, stagnant water within the space, and the remains of wooden barrels. The smell of the space once the water had all poured out was apparently pretty unbearable. No clue who dug it or exactly when, since the property lines had changed dozens of times over the years. This story made me think of hearing about that, and wishing I could have seen it, even with all the stink.

11.40 what would that actually weigh? The water pressure of the river would be huge Also trying to get back out the same way would be impossible, you cant fight water coming in

Great story Clancy, I liked this one better than most for sure. Personally for some reason I’ve never been into the narrative style of back and forth chat room/forum dialog that tends to pop up consistently from time to time in the pasta genre. Still a damn great story hope you can do more like it
